A behind the scenes look with the cast and crew of Dune: Part Two

Пікірлер
  • Watched Dune 2 last night. Turned my friend during the final credits and said " I feel I have really been to the movies tonight" . I actually had Dune scenes running through my dreams during the night. That tells me it was an experience and more than just a movie.

It saddens me -- not because you don't share this opinion, but because I know that not everyone will have had the same experience I did.

  • It helps that Denis tried his best to make it so every set was on location in a desert or if not it was actually built and real so they actually got to travel and experience the world of dune and even just see places they probably have never been before, i here so many horror stories from actors like Ian McKellen on the set of the hobbit saying it is incredible soul draining to act in a green screen room for 80% of filming to the point of depression which is where Hollywood films are sadly going nowadays so it’s nice to see someone still trying to make their movie an experience in its development and on the big screen.

  • Its a fantastic pair of movies, as movies go, but it is very unfortunate that Villeneuve had to throw his clearly large ego at it and betray Herberts story in such wrongfully significant ways! He blatantly downplays and diminishes the miraculous aspect of the Kwisatz Haderach, he basically eliminated the spacing guild and their importance from the narrative and turned Chani into the Fremen equivalent of a woke idiot by divorcing her from a Fremen history, that regardless of the Bene Gesserit influence, would have held far more sway in who she was as a Fremen and pitted her against Paul in a disgracefully opposite way than how Herbert wrote her, their love was transcendental and Villeneuve turns her into a pouting fool. And downplaying Pauls acceptance of 90 generations of collective history, his own, the Bene Gesserits et al and having him oppose his own destiny was equally disgraceful when compared to the reality of Herberts story. Some changes in the narrative are perfectly acceptable but those foundational changes likely have Mr. Herbert rolling in his grave. Very disappointing.
