It needed the genius of Villeneuve plus his having read the story as a teen (like so many of us!) and its story sticking with him from that time period onward. Those decades of the story 'cooking' inside his brain, along with the rise of the perfect set of film technologies to bring it alive; and the cast/crew's pure dedication to it have - wonderfully - created a masterpiece. • I think 3 watches of the first film is optimal for understanding. The second one is waaay easier to follow yet I wanna watch it about 400 times

    • Agreed, especially the "only the messiah would say he's not the messiah!!" Was so funny in such a serious film😂

    • Not to mention the ministry of silly walks. In the end I was disappointed that in 8000 years most people still believe the dumb things they are told. Seemed a bit dated. The religious pageantry just got boring.

  • I must say Javier Bardem carried this movie. His character felt very real and comical at the same time, very entertaining.

    • Avatar??? Are you really comparing the story of Dune, which was written in 1965, to a movie from 2009? Tell me you're not serious.

    • @@AJ-zz7hu I'm comparing two well acted well directed movies that both are/were blockbusters. what do the years have to do with anything btw?

      @Error23801@Error2380126 күн бұрын
    • @@Error23801 You made it sound like the story of Avatar is super original. It's not. It's basically 'Pocahontas' or 'Fern Gully'. Sure it's visually stunning, but it doesn't have an original story. the story of DUNE has been around since 1965. So if anything, Avatar is copying stuff from Dune, NOT the other way around like you made it sound.

      @AJ-zz7hu@AJ-zz7hu26 күн бұрын
    • @@AJ-zz7hu Ah, yes I know that Avatar isn't an original story, and I didn't mean to make it sound like Dune is a copy, simply meant to say that it's causing the same hype and making people watch it again and again. Not to mention the visuals which are simple yet the way they add to the story is marvelous. And Avatar did the same with its visuals. I'm not saying one is better than the other.
