The X-Men have a wide array of colorful characters, and Disney will have a lot to choose from when they first introduce them to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but there is one character that fans know will be quite challenging to recast. Wolverine has been played by Hugh Jackman ever since the first X-Men film, and he brought the character’s arc to a brilliant and tear-jerking conclusion in Logan. The franchise has gone through all kinds of different continuities, thanks to the introduction of time travel, but the story of Wolverine has a definite beginning, middle, and end, so let’s take a look at the explanation of it.

A guy who killed his own father, left house when he was still a kid,live in almost 2 centuries, been in several big wars in history including world war, his wife died, his friends and lovers died, his professor/old friend died,force to kill his lover, saw a lot of people died, lost his memory, was betrayed, live as a soldier, a cage fighter, a lumberjack, a teacher, a driver, become a human weapon, experimented, did a lot of sacrifices, suffering, killing and left his kid without knowing it. before he died, his body has so much pain due to old age but nothing can compare to the pain he's carrying in his heart and mind for all those years he had lived in.

  • A bit of a correction: it wasn't Charles Xavier that wiped out the mutant population when his powers got out of control. Rather, it was Alkalai-Antigen - in reality the remnants of the weapon X program - that slowly poisoned the mutant population through spiking certain foods and drinks that gradually suppressed the x-Gene, as well as prevent it from being passed on through reproduction. It was even so potent it's got past the healing factor of wolverine. That's why Logan's healing factor began to fail and why his body was being poisoned by the adamantium on his bones. All these years his healing factor had kept him in his prime and the metal from poisoning his body. Now that these poisons had invaded his body on a continuous basis, the healing factor had begun to wane. It could also explain what happened to Charles, why he had lost control of his powers and caused that psychic backlash that killed his students and the X-Men. All of this because the company wanted to control mutants; they aimed to breed them and train them as weapons.

Dude’s already played two comic book characters, is a real household name which would make it a lot harder to have Wolverine as his signature role like it was for Hugh, and it’ll be way less likely that he’ll make loads of movies because of that too. People like Tom Hardy, Taron Egerton, Zac Efron, Daniel Radcliffe, etc are all generic choices who are only considered because they’re decent actors who are white, kinda short & have brown hair. Not one of them can be picked out though as truly the human embodiment of their character. None of them are as perfect as Kelsey Grammar was for Beast, or Fassbender for Magneto, or JK Simmons for J Jonah Jameson, etc. So if none of them are perfect (imo, in many others opinions) then I wonder why there’s a hurry to make sub-par castings rather than waiting for the perfect candidate to emerge.

  • A nice summary of the movie timeline. However, remember the movies are based on the comics. At time mark 8:43, the narrator makes a sarcastic remark that Wolverine 'miraculously' has his claws back. Going back to the comics, Wolverine broken his claws in one story line. Afterward, another character makes reference to it, to which Wolverine replies 'Don't worry, it'll grow back'. Within the movie timeline and the comics, adamantium is fused with his bones. That means it grows.

  • Movie LOGAN is based on an alternate timeline version of Wolverine, as depicted in the comics 'Old Man Logan'.......he is not the same wolverine we see at the end of X-Men: Days of Future Past. ‘Old Man Logan’ takes place in an alternate future that basically has no chance of coming to pass in the current canon timeline. The events that lead to it didn’t happen in the main timeline and never will (barring time travel). This was made abundantly clear to ‘Old Man Logan’ when he found himself in the main timeline and started trying to kill off all the people he blamed for the death of his family. His timeline and the main one are completely different.

Plus the decision to include DP is what got him mainstream to begin with because before that no one really knew who he was. He blew up in popularity after that eventually leading to his own movie franchise with what I assume to be a more accurate portrayal of the character.

      @MrWolfchamp-xi3cu@MrWolfchamp-xi3cu4 жыл бұрын
    • @@MrWolfchamp-xi3cu yeah Deadpool was met with a lot of backlash. I for one thought the concept was cool, but the deadpool character was already in cartoons and comics, so it's not like they had no references. I'm glad it got us the new movies, but that's because it was a bad portrayal. Not a bad concept for an original character though. And like I said, I loved the movie, but for anyone who ever watched the Spiderman cartoons that came out a few years prior, it was obviously not correct. He was in MULTIPLE movies, cartoons, and comics. But it's forgivable. Also just to clarify, Deadpool was by far one of THE most popular characters in marvel comics to anyone who read them. So he wasn't unknown. People had been waiting for his inclusion in movies for a very long time since Xmen 1. That's the reason it received the backlash.

    • I actually like it being in that timeline. Makes X-Men stand out as one big tragedy, where the villain, Magneto, was right from the beginning and the benevolent Xavier both directly and indirectly, led the mutant race to extinction, both because of his ideals and the powers that once brought mutants together. Stryker was shouting that someone will finish what he started one day back in 2003, and it did happen. It’s also a callback from Hank’s theory of how time is like a river and throwing a rock in there only temporarily disturbs it but the flow quickly keeps going how it was supposed to like nothing happened. Let alone the fact that Logan is quite possibly the best film of the whole franchise. It redefines Wolverine’s purpose of being a hero in the context of becoming a father and making sure he stops his daughter from turning out like him, after the most savage Berserker rampage we’ve gotten in any X film.
