Self Balancing Motorcycle of the Future is more like a car

You can call this a two-wheeled car or self-balancing motorcycle, from Lingyun Technology.
This is not the first time a two-wheeled car has been attempted. Many have tried and failed; most recently being Lit Motors, which started with a similar concept and ran out of money. But this one is promised to make it to production by 2020.
Features
The futuristic interior provides the elegance of a luxury car and comforts you wont find in any motorcycle.
The touch-screen allows you to interact with the self-driving mode, monitor battery levels, and control your smartphone.
The left door provides a dock for your smartphone and controls for the self-driving mode.
The joystick driving system is on the other door, it's nothing like drving a car or a motorcycle. A version with a steering wheel will also be available.
Price
The gyrocar will cost around $16,000 if assembly lines can produce 10,000 units a year. The previous version, with a steering wheel and brake, will probably hit showrooms first.
The primary obstacle to the gyro car’s mass appeal is whether it’s legally a car or a motorcycle. This is because current rules don’t address two-wheeled gyrocars.
Specs
The gyrocar can reach a speed of 100 kph, equal to 62 mph. While its battery has a range of 100 kilometers.
There are plans for the batteries to be removable and rechargeable at home.
Although this is a copy of Lit Motors' plans we are glad that at least one company made it to the finish line.

  • I love it. This eliminates most of the parking problems associated with cars. Its perfect for a quick trip to the shops or that 16km/10 mile trip to work. Lets face it 90% of journeys are with a single driver and within that range. Its small size will also reduce traffic problems. It will be much more comfortable and safer than a motorcycle. The price of $16,000 surely will drop and be so low a lot of people will have one as wells as a car. Self driving technology is almost ready, already available on certified roads for some cars in some countries.

    • I wonder how it works. I imagine there are counter rotating spinning gyros that can be torqued to level and bank the car in combination with a pendulum. Once the vehicle is moving the gyroscopic effect of the wheels will allow the torque gyros to be nulled.

  • i just found out about you today 02-22-2019. Mr Kim, You are a genius. You have destroyed every other two wheel designer with Gyro technology. When the Eco Cycle first came out I loved it but didn't particularly care about the out rigger wheels. You have solved that the out rigger wheel problem by eliminating them. I have been motorcycle lover since 1959, i'm now 70 years rebuilding 1999 Buell 1200 cc bike. Like have crashed at high speeds. I still like gas and think you should diversify and offer a Honda 1100 cc V4 with your gyro technology it would be killer. I want to buy one as soon as possible. I would even like to work for you company. Test drive your bikes what ever you wanted me to do. I have an Associate in science in Electronic Technology and thirty years experience in manufacturing set up and design.

  • I really like to ride one of those in the future. But i notice the choice is only autonomous drive, so i guest it doesnt allow passanger to drive just for fun. I also wondering if they have enough bagage room, since it need big space for gyro ballance equipment. The other thing is how if there is suddenly a power failure? Does the ballance affected?

  • I need a 350 km range and a 150 km/h top speed that can pass US regulations. If you can do that, that would be the dream commuter car. Just needs room for a laptop and a bag of groceries.

  • I like the looks and the concept BUT needs 3 things for me 1. Fast charge (Use Tesla's global system) 2. much more speed ~70-80 highway cruise.. 3. ~150 mile range.

  • is that true that the C1 from Lit Motors have buy Apple? And the C1 was more powerfull about 180 kph. Many people around the world was waiting for the C1, because it is ideal for everyday use, but now this version with only 100 kph and only 100 km range its not for use out of the city.     • @@CaptainGizmo Damn! They went bankrupt? I use to follow their progress back in 2016. They claimed they were in the final stages. Basically just getting their supply chain set up, manufacturing system and final programming. Their prototypes looked a lot better than this, had a passenger seat, and more power and range. I hate that they couldn't find a billionare or a lottery winner or even go on shark tank to get someone to invest in the project. I got tired of waiting. I had the $16k on standby and I was willing to pay for one, then they jacked the price up to 25k. I had that too but I wasn't willing to pay that much for a product that hasn't had real world long term testing. I eventually gave up and went and purchased a Porsche Panamera Turbo. Otherwise, I would still be waiting.

  • I have not been optimistic about this vehicle since the company launched the prototype in 2012 (perhaps 2011). In my opinion, if the vehicle does not change the concept of maintaining balance forever, it will not be mass-produced. When the motorcycle turns at a high speed, it needs to be tilted inward to against the centrifugal force. If the motorcycle cannot be tilted because of the gyroscope, there is a great danger.

  • i think it is great to replace a motorcycle. I rather use this one than a motorcycle. If more people have this two wheeled car/ motorcycle, would be a great solution for big cities. Everyday you see a single person driving cars to work, park and leave it there for 8 or more hours. This is great. most people do not drive more than a few miles to work anyway. I would buy one.
