  • IMO The skipper of the Invincible could have either increased speed by a few knots to lift the bow, or otherwise by quite a lot to lift the complete hull. From experience these big cats are quite comfortable tackling larger seas than that at speed with an approach angle of between 30 and 45 deg.

  • The deep V hull design is perfect for the conditions of the inlet. Quarter the wave and allow the hull to slice through the wave. Deep V hull combined with the right motor and you can handle just about any wave encountered. I think it was Reggie Fountain who really fine tuned the deep V hull still being used today. Current design now boats have the three tunnels that allow for more speed with the boat riding across the water with only quarter of the hull on the water. I could be wrong but I think that is what I learned from his video on his life.

      @johnbumpus7138@johnbumpus7138 Жыл бұрын
    • @@Stephen85 not necessarily faster... with more props in the water for same power (than 2 big i/o or inboards), you get more drag. All these outboards could actually be heavier than 2 larger engines of same power. Also, all the weight is on the transom, whereas with inboards you have engines deep in the middle of the hull. However, maintenance and engine swapping MUCH easier. Basically pros/cons for both.

      @searay7723@searay7723 Жыл бұрын
    • @@searay7723 yeah there is a lot to it but I was trying to be short. Some of the blue water fishermen specifically tune their inboard diesels to raise and lower in pitch in order to draw billfish up towards their spread of baits. You get a lot more transom space to handle landing large fish and a boat with twin inboards can hold up on a spot much better than a boat with outboards. You can basically pivot in one spot by reversing one engine and running the other one forward, which makes docking a lot easier too.

    • Navigating an inlet the right way calls for experience A lot of people have recently moved to Florida and want the whole Florida experience so we get a lot of noobs and credit card captains who instead of being sensible and learning how to navigate on a beginner boat, decides their first boat will be a 36 footer that they go off and do noob stuff in
