  • OK. I got the skinny on the Hatteras. It was originally a 65 and it was extended to an 82 ft'er in 2000. It was named Catchin' Moments. She does have stabilizers so she shouldn't roll that bad if they were working. She has 2 generators to run power so the hydraulics for the stabilizers should have worked. She has twin 12V71 w/turbo's, 870 HP and both were overhauled in 2005. She was for sale for only $599,000 but was taken off the market. It is now named Catchin' Feelings.

  • As a non-boat owner at the moment, what would have been the best way to get out of Haulover/ anywhere else with similar conditions?

    @hengamanx3@hengamanx36 ай бұрын
    • Generally speaking, get the boat up on plane and trim the nose up. Get on plane by speeding up, most boats are made to lift up higher in the water. Watch some more of WaveyBoats and Boats versus Haulover videos. BVH he talks about how they are doing, grades who "wins", the boats or Haulover Inlet.

      @markshutt1476@markshutt14766 ай бұрын
    • On plane, and trimmed way up. Pull power going up a wave, apply power going down a wave, keep power on inbetween. That'll keep your bow up. Inexperienced captains are afraid of visibility issues, so, they don't trim up, and wind up pushing their bows through the waves instead of over them. You really do have to trust that people are going to use proper channel etiquette and stay on the proper side. Or just get a bigger boat. 40+ foot yachts can mow through hallover without much drama all day long. Also, wear a pfd in conditions like this, always. If you bonk your head as you get yeeted overboard, you're dead without one. Maybe dead with one, but, improve your chances you know?
