All respect to Charles but people were quick to say “Khabib retired to avoid Charles Olivera” wouldn’t it now make sense Charles Olivera became a champion because Khabib retired. Khabib didn’t even need to come out of retirement to prove there is levels.
Fights are not pokemon games, every fight is different. Yeah Charles suck at defending ground and pound he got mauled by Paul Felder, but it doesn't means he doesn't have any chance

Khabib is a tank, Islam is a Ferrari. I have not seen many that is as aesthetically pleasing to watch as him. To me there's Anderson Silva (in some fights), there's DJ, and Islam. These 3 get me the feeling they just flow through opponents, like watching a movie.
Exactly my thinking Khabib is like "you are outgunned, outskilled, and out of your mind and I dare to show you, and even the world" Islam on the other hand "I will execute the plan so flawlessly, you won't know I already overlapped you twice"
I think Belal Mohammed summed it up very well, with Kabib he will just destroy you he will have a chance to finish ut ignores it and keep holding you down and hitting you with the most vicious GnP to break you mentally and to show you he's levels above you. With Islam, he said ''he shows mercy" he doesn't do anything he doesn't need to, he doesn't overexert himself, and always goes for the finish as a way to stop the fight as soon as possible.
Clearly and by far the best grappler on ufc, he's not a specialist on a specific grappling art, but he knows every aspect of grappling, in every situation he know what do, he knows how to submit, how to control, how to clinch, how to grapple against the fence, it's just scary how him and khabib are the best grapplers ufc has ever seen, abdulmanap was something else.
@now dig on this they are better grapplers than gsp, didnt you see what islam did to charles? has ever gsp faced a grappler of the level of oliveira? gsp is top 3 mma best wrestler ever, i agree with this, but he didnt had the judo of khabib and islam, he didnt had the bjj of khabib and islam. just look at their record, islam and khabib have 6 and 5 ufc submissions in 13 fights, gsp has only 4 in 23 ufc fights....

Perhaps the most complete fighter in the history of MMA. He can do it all - wrestle, trip, submit, strength, perfect timing, strike, strike with power, solid defense (both on the ground and on the feet), and has high fight IQ. Absolutely amazing.

Honestly, people should stop calling him a wrestler. He is much more judo than wrestling. He is a great, great wrestler, but elite at judo. Compare the takedowns here to Khabib's. Khabib is a wrestler, Islam is judo. Islam mostly uses his wrestling for takedown defence. Look at the fight against Arman. Probably the best takedown defence I have ever seen. The balance was outrageous.
Islam is a complete grappler, he can do it all
Combat sambo is a development of judo, while judo only takes defensive parts such as grappling and throwing from ancient Japanese jiujitsu, in combat sambo added offensive parts such as kicking and punching. so it is ideal for mma fighter
or we can call him like coach javier did, a complete martial artist

Man those dagestan fighters make grappling an art...Islam's style is clearly different from Khabib's... Although he has good positional grappling his main goal is to get the submission...He's so technical with his takedowns doesn't use a lot of energy as opposed to guys like Usman , Colby and Khamzat.
Makhachev uses a lot of judo.
Khabib is the better fighter, but Makhachev is the more complete MMA. Highly technical, clinical, methodical. He's just elite AF

What we confirmed with olivera vs makhachev fight 1. Khabib is the LW GOAT 2. Charles could not have beaten Khabib 3. Tony had no chance against Khabib 4. Sambo is better than BJJ 5. Who you have fought doesn't really matter to earn a title shot. IF u say makhachev has better striking,thats why he won against olives. He's the more refined version of Khabib. He has better kickboxing and better clinch-works because of his wrestling-sambo background whereas Khabib relies just mostly on single-leg like all folk wrestlers with vicious GaP.
That's what I noticed. Islam's takedowns seem to come more from the clinch vs khabib would shoot for your legs and grab a toe, and anaconda his way to a takedown 😂😂. Both of these men are legends but it's just so awesome that they're fighting style is so similar yet different.

Khabib have better fight IQ. He knows how to handle all situation, he will never lose. Makachev more complete weapon, but ,he will find trouble, and lose again.

I have noticed something.....like if u agree.......He always allows his opponent to use his legs, islam just baits that right leg of his opponent and waits for weak defence to break his opponent's left leg balance. Then he takes you to the ground and rest is best ground game and make your opponent tired and submits. Truely great style and technique

From surface, we see both fighters didnt do nothing, seem "hugging" each other, but its some sort of technique, they want do more damage / control, do / avoid punch or submission. so please respect grappling / ground game / wrestling in MMA. If u cant believe what i said, just watch any breakdown, u will be more appreciative and fall in love.

Watching that fight you could tell that Islam was fighting down to Thiago's level, he was treating that fight almost like a sparring session which explains why he made slow work of the otherwise underappreciated Thiago.

The best grappling match that was close to him was aman tsarukyan. If many think beneil can put problem to makhachev, put beneil vs tsarukyan first. If he can survive or dominate tsarukyan then just might be he can put problem to islam.

Hey Martial Liam. Why didn't you include Makhachev first takedown against Charles Oliveira? It wasn't a slip up by Oliveira. Rather Makhachev attempted Judo-ish body-lock takedown against Oliveira using Charles own momentum against him. Hell even Luke Thomas and Alec DeLoe confirmed it was a takedown.
Everyone thinks it wasn’t a TD b/c DC was so damn eager to make it sound like he wasn’t bias that he was giving Oliveira credit for shit he didn’t even so, like pull guard in this instance. He didn’t pull guard he got rocked by a better striker then flattened by a superior grappler. Then his bjj proved entirely useless against Islam’s groundgame and we all know the rest from there

It makes no sense that these guys come out of nowhere from total obscurity having had no presence in Mma and all of a sudden are dominating MMA in unison. It'd make more sense if it was just one guy like it initially was but then several more follow immediately and have similar success If it was one guy it could easily be explained as "He stood out among everyone else where he's from" or "Someone took a chance on him and he became great" or both. Because these guys wrestle since childhood. They learn the punching and kicking part on top of that (which is much easier) and you get what you see. Only issue is getting connected enough to sign for UFC and establish yourself in a foreign language. Ocne Khabib made it he is being able to bring all the talents along or help others outside of his gym
