Tommy Robinson is the co-founder and former spokesman and leader of the English Defence League (EDL) "street protest" movement, and also founded the European Defence League. For a short time in 2012 Robinson was joint Party Vice Chairman of the British Freedom Party. He led the EDL from 2009 until 8 October 2013, when he was persuaded to quit the organisation and to discuss alternative ways of tackling extremism with the think tank Quilliam.
ABOUT THE OXFORD UNION SOCIETY: The Union is the world's most prestigious debating society, with an unparalleled reputation for bringing international guests and speakers to Oxford. It has been established for 189 years, aiming to promote debate and discussion not just in Oxford University, but across the globe.
The Oxford Union is deeply grateful and encouraged by the messages of support in response to our determination to uphold free speech. During our 200 year history, many have tried to shut us down. As the effects of self-imposed censorship on university campuses, social media and the arts show no signs of dissipating, the importance of upholding free speech remains as critical today as it did when we were founded in 1823. Your support is critical in enabling The Oxford Union to continue its mission without interruption and without interference. You can support the Oxford Union here: oxford-union.org/supportus

He deserves what he gets and shouldn't be aloud to visit any other country since he's so against people coming here. As a white British man with myself, people who support Tommy Robinson are the embarrassments of this country. Never speak up to actual foreigners, all just flock on KZhead comment sections to team up against them lmao 😂 are all your Mrs's seeing foreigners behind your backs? Are they taking your land, your jobs, your people? Now,I may not be able to personally prove his accounts to be truthful, but due to my own personal experiences and witnesses, he's absolutely on point. I just pray for peace among real humans who are not persuaded religiously to blindly defend what they've been thought to believe, but hopefully be truthful to ourselves for the sake of seeking and achieving peace amongst ourselves

  • I am born and raised in Telford. I went to school with some of the convicted groomers. My childhood experiences were very similar to what Tommy is describing here. I knew girls who where groomed and raped and they were called liars. My friends 13 year old cousin was ran over and killed by her 19 year old "boyfriend" because she tried to get away from him and his grooming friends. We had a school assembly about how to be safe around cars while the police and teachers ignored the uncomfortable reality and truth of what really happened. Many of the victims were vulnerable girls from vulnerable homes and easy targets. Almost 20 years later I work in social services because I wanted to be the change and I'm sad to say absolutely nothing has changed. Those of us that truly care just get burned out by the weak minded who would rather call us liars and ignore the truth than risk their pay check. I used to think it was ignored because people are scared to be labelled racist. Now i realise its more because society is just so broken as whole, people have to turn a blind eye to protect their job so they can pay their bills and keep food on the table instead of doing whats right and fighting to protect those that are vulnerable. It takes a very strong person to walk against the crowd and stand up for whats right these days. So many children are still being failed. You dont have to like Tommy. You dont have to be friends with him or support him. You dont have to be a racist. But you dont have to ignore the rape of children either. Its a choice you are making.

    • Can't believe people fall for this old guff. What's grooming got to do with changing your name more times than your undepants, getting arrested several times for inciting violence and trying to emmigrate to America under yet another false name to avoid justice in the country you apparently love so much? It's like you're so desperate to say something good about "Tommy Robinson" (fictional name) that you accuse his dissenters of ignoring child rape. I don't remember people marching in the streets protesting for freedom for paedophiles. But, asking for the murder of Palestinian children in Gaza to stop seemed to get right up "Tommy's" nose. I guess you prefer mass murder of children to rape then.

    • +Jason Harris I was going to mention maybe adjust that to say "these extremist muslims" as its a small group riding on, and within, a larger religeous group to the detriment of the whole ( I would suggest ) - but you made me realise even if you do hate anyone or culture ( well founded or not ) I dont think you would kill them given the chance you value your own morals far too much - sadly this cannot be said for this small group whose morals are seated in hatred for us, and seemily impossible to defend against due to the nature of their values. More sadly, muslim or not, wanted here or not, there are one or two more to come to add to the ones already in the fabric of English blood,... it does seem however the whole group does lean towards re-engineering our culture to fit their own without compromise - seems our polital AND public stupidity for letting it evolve over the last 20 years. Maybe us natives were too busy counting our welath or watching pretty celebs to notice. There is no solution I can imagine as history does not tend to reinstate on this scale, and this rather retarded worldview to primarily destroy is the only one they are interested in. Be hopeful you likely won't be around to see it bloom fully as they here for the loooong haul even if it takes centuries, and thats no guesswork Im afraid. It was fun while it lasted up to last century, but realistically it will never over.

  • Thank you Oxford Union for putting this on. I had very negative views of Mr Robinson/Lennon for many years, however, I have heard a lot from him recently that has changed my opinion.. Incidentally, I studied in Luton at the University in the early 90s and lived in and around Bury Park.. Even back then the town could sometimes feel like a tinderbox (I'm from Manchester which had enough of its own violent problems in the 90's) however I could only imagine how much worse Luton became in the years after I'd left. Listening to his story made me see the man in a new light, and with a respect for him and his values in standing up for both his community and beliefs.

I fear for the future of my children and grand children. My heart breaks for Tommy and his family, for what they've been made to endure. The police are a disgrace and need to be investigated and held accountable for their wrong doings. Tommy has my greatest respect for raising the issues and raising awareness. • @@peaceisthewayforward3297, 'hate' isn't automatically wrong. YOU hate plenty of things, don't you? You hate child abuse, don't you? You hate the fact that some people are rapists, don't you? The hate that Tommy is spreading is *justified* hate, hate of a dangerous religious ideology: Islam. He has every right to shout of his hatred. I hate Islam too. Hating a religion isn't illegal. Moreover, hating a religion isn't hating the people who practice it (this is a crucial fact that most people cannot understand). Now, would you hate someone who made speeches about his hatred of something weird but uncontroversial e.g. Peanuts cartoons? he would have the right to make his speeches and express his hatred. It would make people call him names and argue that he was a nutcase, but it would be fair and legal expression of his opinion. So why do you hate Tommy Robinson for the speeches he makes? Is he targeting you? No he isn't. He's targeting a religion. However, his hatred isn't irrational, like a hatred of Peanuts cartoons. His hatred comes from evidence of evil criminal behaviour by radical Islamists; and *their* speeches ARE of a people. Radical Imams PREACH hatred of PEOPLE (all non-Muslims) and exort them to violence against those people.

He is paid to be the boogieman, the evil and racist 'White Nationalist', that can be used to convince White people that supporting nationalism, makes you an evil racist that is on par with Hitler. He is used as a weapon against nationalists, to convince the more 'moderate' voters that they will incur the same hate if they refuse to support our globalist 'ideals'. It is social programming. Anjem Choudary is no different. He is also a paid shill, paid to speak on a public platform, telling everyone that Islam will take over the world, because they have an ongoing Jihad against us etc, which is done with the purpose of convincing the audience to hate Muslims. This is how the game is played. It is easy to pay people to wear white hoods and turn up at rallies, pretending to be members of the KKK. If Tommy Robinson was a real White Nationalist, outside of our ruler's control, they would never give him a platform to speak, and none of us would ever know his name.

He seems pretty selective with his listing of horror stories, but doesn't reflect the actual history of how these gang conflicts started in the first place. He is also lying. His target is all Muslims, not just the gangs he picked fights with. The same question could be asked as to why his gang of Nazis is allowed to operate freely.

This is a MAJOR problem and tommy is right about what the authorities are doing, which is nothing and they always turn a blind eye due to political correctness. All communities of the U.K, wether you're white, black, brown(basically any nationality which lives here and love this country), Cristian, Hindu, Jewish, Bhudist, Sikh, Muslim, Rasta,etc......, we ALL need to stand together, shoulder to shoulder and stand united against this hate against all of us.
