He is wrong when he asks all opposition parties to unite to drive one man out. Multiple opposition parties with different ideologies were always there in India. India has never been two party system like US. So the way he is mentioning all opposition to act as one cohort to drive the ruling party out, is not a the democratic system India follows or will ever succeed in following. Simply because each of those parties has a different ideology, aspirations, motivations. May be with difficulty they can come together for election, but they can never run a cohesive government for 5 years. And that will be a disaster for India. Indians who have grown up in late 90s and 2000s have seen this first hand and know this very well and that is why even if some voters don't vote for BJP in state elections, they vote for BJP in general elections.
True that the opposition when combined may lose efficiency, but that also brings in compromises in legislative and other matters thus giving representation for all communities. They also debated on Russia Ukraine war, Israel Palestine conflict, dangers of AI, etc. Oxford is an academic institution,academia has no boundaries, it is not limited to the borders of UK. It would be rather hypocritical and arrogant of us to take all the praises from foreign countries and call ourselves vishwaguru and then when the same countries criticize us reject the criticism by saying that they shouldn't be involved in our matters.

It's not supposed to be a speech. But a debate. He handled it as such. I see no fault in his approach. He maintained a very balanced pov, not embarrassing India by dissecting the domestic affairs(which are many) on an international platform. He legitimately questioned why the West is bethroned on the high horse. When was India on the right/wrong direction? He is a very seasoned anchor, with some theatrics. Absolutely gold standard line of questioning as far as I am concerned along the lines of who made the West the judge of the world.
