how to fix hustler raptor DRIVE belt ( how to route on kawasaki motors) !

NOTE : IT APPEARS THIS ONLY WORKS ON KAWI MOTORS - the DECK belt NEEDS to be removed first - thanks for commenting. The Kohler motors appear to have a pully that needs to be removed first....
Hey guys in this video I explain how to re route your hustler raptor drive belt. This is the belt that sends power from the drive pully to the 2 hydro pullys. Basically lets you drive LOL. Its pretty straight forward but a look ahead never hurts. If you would like to support the channel please pick up the belt from amazon with the links below! Cheers!

  • Thankfully - Hustler improved the design by revising to "cogless" style. I just ordered the new style. I expect it will last longer than my first two (those were original style with cogs/notches). Though, honestly I have only ever had trouble when putting the mower in a precarious position. Never any trouble mowing on flat or relatively ground.

  • Same thing happend to me, I got a new belt and then it kept jumping off then I realized the pully that attached to the tensioner pully had a broken lip so apparently they belt couldn't stay on. But I wanted to say also be aware a common issue on these raptor sd mowers there are multiple brackets that will break on the mower and everything will start to move too much and throw the belt . They made a repair kit with thicker brackets and reinforcements for multiple spots to fix the issue. The new raptor xd is the new raptor sd and they are made way thicker frame and all and better design .

    • +1 on the hydro bracket kit and get the replacement transaxle crossbrace while you're at it if it already hasn't been upgraded. The crossbrace broke on my Hustler and then the flimsy trans brackets gave way. Putting the thrown belt back in place was a walk in the park after replacing all those brackets. You have to practically be a contortionist to reach some of the backer nuts! Pleased with the finished product though. The new brackets are seriously beefy and come with upgraded hardware.

    • @@GilbertGardens the way this can be done is so simple it’s nuts. First disconnect the battery, Second remove one end of the deck belt tensioner spring. Third remove the deck belt from the main engine pulley. Fourth loosen the rear transmissions nuts and bolts on both sides of each transmissions. ( DO NOT REMOVE THE NUT AND BOLT / JUST UNTHREAD THEM TO THE END OF THE BOLT) Fifth, now the transmissions are lowered enough for the belt to slide in to each transmission pulley. Sixth install drive as shown in Hustles Parts Manual. Now retighten the transmission bolts (both sides) put the deck belt back on and reinstall the tension spring for the deck belt and reconnect the battery and you’re done. I forgot to mention to remove the drive belt tension spring, remove it as you go. Steve
