If mower veers to left on level ground go CW half turn with front nut on left hydro to speed up that side.
If mower veers to right on level ground go half turn CW with front nut on right hydro too speed up right side.
You can also slow opposite side down to correct tracking but you might lose some speed.
Remember, the mower will never track 100% straight if on a slope unless you steer it straight with controls, thats a skill you need to learn over time.
This adjustment can also be made up at the bottom of the handle, there are adjustment point on both ends,so whatever works best for ya!! Bump bump!!
Correct me if I'm wrong, but the bottom adjustment would only work for handle leveling and not for speed or tracking right? I just tried that yesterday and what you wind up with is some seriously offset handles. That's the whole reason I came looking for you. I got my answer in a minute and now both fixed in 5. Great vid.
@@lukerazonski9598 Yeah brother, those are just for handle placement.. glad I could help you!!
Forgot to mention I have 3 acres. It blows through it. I made the bracket out of 2" angle and about to put it through the test. Thanks guy. Will stay in touch! 💥
@@williampatterson5030 awesome brother glad it's kicking butt for ya..let me know how your new bracket holds up man.
Excellent video. Just adjusted mine, hardest part was finding a 1/2" wrench. Had to remove my wheel and still took less than 5 minutes. Thanks for the quick concise video.
Great video! Very informative! Thanks for sharing the knowledge!!
thanks for getting to the point quickly. I was watching another video and it was 20 minutes before he got the actual adjustment.
Haha,no problem bro Im from Jersey so where always in a rush!!
positive i just watched the same one and gave up lol
I thought my left hydrogear was going out again, two full turns and I'm up and running. Thank you!
Sweet dude!!!
Good video 577 my lawn mower tracks uneven so now I know how to fix it thanks for a good video I hope your doing good have a good day
Thanks for the lesson!!!!!
Thanks for posting this. I was concerned that I would have to take my hustler to the dealership to get this fixed. Hopefully this will save me a whole lot if time and money
Your welcome .Glad I could help a little!
Quality video. Exactly what I was looking for. Thx dude!
No prob brother glad I could help.
Thank you sir!! Another quick project in the making. Nice finding to the point how to’s.
No problem brother, way too much bullshit out there these days!!!
577 Jersey Customs Adventures Actually Sister but I agree.
@@southernday2daycharm751 oh crap I'm sorry sista lol😅👍
Thanks for the video,, good info
Just what I was needing. Thanks!
Your welcome man.
Thank you 577 from 662.lol. Man,I have the exact machine. Been broke down for over a year due to a broken bracket I couldn't see. But anyway thanks for this info. Very informative!!! 5 stars bro!!! 🤘
Oh man dude I broke a couple brackets I ended up getting the upgraded bracket which works really well I have a harbor freight welder and that fixed it up a couple times enjoy my brother.
@@577buttfan I love that mower. Is so bad to the bone. I messed around and cut the neighbors yards to no appreciation. We live and learn. It is that bad. I broke the whole mower apart to find the broken bracket. The transmission belt kelp coming off. Hope this info helps someone with the same problem. My advice is don't go out of your way to help unappreciative neighbors.lol Thanks 577!!!
Great information thanks.
I've been looking for how to fix this issue on my SD. Thanks for the info.
Cool, half a turn is all you really ever need :)
Awesome helping me out a lot bro much appreciated😅
No prob, after 300 hours or so the holes in the hydro plates get elongated from the rod pin and cause slop. You can remove them and beat the hole slightly shut with a ball peen hammer and that will tighten them up for another few hundred hours :)
Dude this is the best get to the point video I’ve ever seen phenomenal fucking job my friend
Hahaha..thanks man!!!!
Phenomenon
I'll try it. Thanks man
Just go small at first..half turn.
I got a few more cuts this season. When it is dead middle of winter I will go into the shed and still smell the grass and dream of a time when everything was green.
haha yep you may find a peanut or two in them there treads. I have had a week solid of sitting around and I have all these idea's for next season, it is making me anxious.
I needed know how fixing my hustler brake and walker brake to
What are those springs in the back for
They retract the controls to neutral from reverse.
Right arm on my mower seems like it's at about 75%. Thanks for the explanation better the arm and the pump and the speeds. Another video I saw they had the wheels off to do this. Can this be done without removing wheels?
Oh yeah you don't need to re move the wheels just get a 13 mm wrench in their very simple.. pushing the handles all the way forward makes it easier.
Good video my brother
Thanks dude!!!!
Do you have to retighten the back nut after adjusting the forward nut? Also when you say clockwise from which direction are you indicating ie from your video would it be clockwise from the front of the mower or back or another way if veering left do you turn the front nut towards you or away from you
So just to confirm, if veering left loosen nut on back as if u are trying to remove the nut from bar and turn nut on front in direction towards the inside of mower (clockwise as if viewed from the back of the mower) which would move the front nut further down the rod in the direction towards the front of the mower and then retighten the back nut? Overall makes sense just want to clarify before do it. Don't quite understand point of loosening back nut to begin with since the front nut will be going in opposite direction as back one unless I am misunderstanding something (which is probably the case)
Or is it u are dping the clockwise counterclockwise from different ends on viewpoint and you are ringing both screws towards the back end of the mower as if u kept going it would take them off
K, think I got it u either move both screws towards end of rod towards back of mower in same direction (to address veering left) or thread them further down towards opposite direction towards from of mower, correct?
You can adjust at bottom of handle instead. Worked for me
Make a video showing us,that would be cool!!
great tip!
Glad it was helpful!
Hey Buddy Thanks....What are the adjustments with the springs/Bolts at the base/bottom of each handle for? My right handle isn't touching the frame when in the full forward position...What would I adjust to even them out.....They are even at the neutral position Thanks again
I'm not sure but I had to eventually grind away part of the frame so I could get full forward and reverse deflection at pumps.
My handles are closer than I thought at full forward position,But the rod adjustment at the Hydros as you showed how to adjust are no where near adjusted evenly...So will tinker with those a half turn at a time tomorrow well the right side since its tracking slightly to the right...Thanks Bro@@577buttfan
Looks like if the hole where the rod clips in 1:09 wasn't worn out, you'd get the tracking back to stock specs and you wouldn't have to compensate by adjustments.
Oh yeah, the tracking issues are due to wear and tear on all the pivot points especially where the rod connects to the pump plate, that hole gets bigger and the pin gets smaller..good observation my friend :)
Thanks I will try it
I only found two spot in front wheels to grease. Is that a grease filter on the left side shape like the gas filter? Does that need to be changed often?
The Raptor SD has no grease fittings that i found at all so Im not sure what machine you are referring too?
So do you turn the front nut toward the back of the mower or the front of the mower if your adjusting the side shown in the video? Some clarification would be greatly appreciated. My husband made the adjustments but I'm not sure which way he turned the front nut (toward the back or the front of the mower). I drove it into its parking spot. Went out a few days later to mow and the mower turned a little and now won't budge when I move the handles forward, backward, one one way or another, it won't budge.
Sounds like you have another issue if the mower wont move at all,i think your hydro lock valve might be pulled out,not sure though? A minor adjustment on that tracking nut will not effect the mower from not moving at all,you just go 1/2 turn in the direction shown in video. If the mower tracks to the left on level surface you want to slow down the Right pump a hair by screwing the front nut toward the front of the mower on right side, same goes for right,if mower tracks right you have to slow down the left pump :) Also whenever you move a nut you have to tighten the rear nut back up to lock everything in place..hope that makes sense.
Thanks for the reply. Can you tell me where that valve is. My husband is working out of state and I'm trying to get the mower going myself. Need to get the yard mowed.
Its hard to say but if you watch my hustler hydro pump service video I show you exactly where they are,and they would need to be unhooked and pushed in. Hope that helps.
What is the lever with the ring loop next to the steering rod and do they need to be pushed in or pulled out?
Allison Basden that's them they need to be pushed in but you have you pull them out hard and un hook first then push in😁
👍👍👍
👍🏼
How do you make these adjustments without taking off the wheel? And are the nuts 1/2" or 13mm. I am not able to reach the front nut at all it appears unless I take off the wheel.
I can get a wrench on the front nut no problem?
same with me. there’s no way to get a wrench on the front nut. what are we missing?
Isnt this moving the handle or slowing it down bc the allen bolt looks maxed out?
It still has a few mm doesn't take much...but if your plate is hitting the Allen head then yeah either slow down this side or speed up the other.
I started getting a metal on metal scraping (actually like a screeching sound) from the left rear wheel on my 2019 SD Raptor. I tired greasing where the wheel hub connects to the hydro but no luck. Any idea what the issue maybe?
Wow i hope its not the bearing inside??
@@577buttfan Is there any way to check the wheel bearing?
@@pablocruze9307 I would see if it has any up and down play.Maybe you can shoot some lithium grease in there with a small hose.
@@577buttfan I did put some grease in where the wheel hub meets the hydro drive. I'll check for movement and I will also see if I can record the actual noise. It only happens when in motion...thanks.
It took longer to post this than watch the vid and fix the problem. Got my answer in about a minute and the problem fixed in 3. You just can't get better than that. Almost as if the video itself fixed it.
If I'm all the way to the stops already, is there any way to make the mower drive EVEN FASTER? I've got 6 acres and could use more speed.
My bars where hitting the frame not letting me go to full speed so I used my 4"angle grinder and removed some material from the frame where they hit now i have full travel again,Its only a mower, grind it and paint :).
@@577buttfan I've already cut the grass chute wider, I'll see what I can do for the handles too.
@@joshtargo6834 Have at it,lemme know how it goes for ya!!
Don’t move all the way to the stops!! You’ll do severe damage to the hydro pumps!!
@@isaiahsmith5397 what the fuck are you talking about I have 500 hours on this mower and it works fine.. mine has no stops the frame was getting in the way from allowing full travel on the pumps so the valves were not opening all the way and it was running slower than it was when it was new.
So simple and the idiots at my local dealer couldn't get this straight. It still drifts to the right! I'm gonna take it on the road and run some tests and adjustments. Now is it possible to increase the speed? I don't think mine is going as fast as advertised.
You can make sure your pump lever goes all the way..I had to grind a little metal off the yellow frame so the bars would go farther without hitting. Also make sure your engine rpm is set to 3600 I believe.
Would this work on a 2014 fastrak sd my is pulling to the left.I will give it a try.
I'm not familiar with that mower but you should have a similar adjustment back by the pump and also where the rod connects to the control handle.Check it out and let me know what you find bro.
Bump bump
How do you adjust the speed controls on fastrak? My left side is slower than the right. The fastrak is different than the Raptors.
Not sure Warren id have to look at it,I'm sure it's similar.
Thanks for responding. I think I might’ve figured it out.
@@warrenmayfield3160 just go in very Small increments like quarter or half turn at a time,a little usually goes a long way.
Mine has threads on each end of the rod. I have turned it about a full turn to me and it still hasn’t helped. When do you decide you need to go to the other side and slo it down.
@@warrenmayfield3160 will you have to make sure that the hydro arm isn't moving anymore and it's all the way at its farthest position and when that's the case then you can go over to the other side and slow it down I would assume good luck
hey man, i have an issue where I had a leak in my left hydro pump due to a crack. it took almost a year for me to find a replacement pump. i got it in this week and it works perfect. the issue now is that the right wheel wont move. i didnt do anything to it. any idea what that could be?
You have too bleed the whole system man, sounds like air. I have another video showing how.
so this is second hand and the overflow plug is like a hex key but is stripped, any other way i can do this if i cant get that off?
@@TheLankyWoodsman if the pumps are tied together you can try to just use one over flow make sure you get close to 4 quarts in both and bleed them well..no promises..without getting that overflow bolt out gunna be lots of air.
@@577buttfan thank you, such a pain.
Is it fine to adjust it while the mower is running?
No!!! Very dangerous. The pump cooling fan can cut your finger off..never work on a mower while it's running!!!
why would u want to do this adjustment while the mower is running?
@@AyGrom I was joking
Anybody know?
but what if left stick is 1 1/2 inch forward of right stick but still does veer right or left on flat road , all these vids are on veering too much left or right but the problem is even though mower goes straight, left stick still is off only when in the most forward position
There's a bolt on the bottom of each stick in the front where you can adjust the position of the sticks that does not affect the tracking check it out.
@@577buttfan i know and the left stick is as far back as it can go in the slot and right stick is is far forward it can go i complain to the dealer since i got machine
@@dwaynemaslowski9398 ok good luck bro sorry i couldnt help ya much.
This adjustment is ONLY for neutral position and shouldn’t be used for tracking issues. It causes neutral to be drive/reverse and the pumps whine like crazy. The repair manual details the right way, along with this adjustment which again, effects neutral…
Bullshit!! If you only go half a turn either way it works perfect!!Use a little common sense so you dont go too far and make the machine creep. Been doing it for years and aint about to stop cause some manual says so. Do what works for you and Ill do what works for me. Thanks for watching!!Make a video showing us the right way then!!
@@577buttfan Lol, that’s a helpful response… I used this method and common sense instantly told me it was off. After digging, and looking at the machine more in depth, it’s pretty clearly wrong… Sorry I triggered you
@@rackemwells No problem man you didnt trigger me..I know about the 2 cap screws for the lever stops but too make a quick adjustment on the fly the way i show works great as long as your not creeping. After time all the components wear out and you get slop in the linkage so either way will work.
@@577buttfan Can’t argue there… My 42” raptor is on its 5th season and I only cut 3/4 acre but already have quite a bit of slop in lots of the linkage and my right side parking brake is broken. I’m happy with the Hustler in general, def wish it was a little more stout though…
I have over a thousand hours on my first SD and after 600 hours I had to grind part of the frame away so the controls would deflect the pumps to full operating speed both ways. You could replace all the steering parts or just do what works so you can get stuff done.
