2x YES LET? Willstrop wasn't amused!
James Willstrop and Henry Leung played an amazing match in R1 of the World Championships 2023.
It all came down to the tie-break. And a couple decisions by the referee. What two decisions would you give in these situations?
(You can find a link to the full match in the comments below).
First scene- Willstrop isn't prepared to play the ball, but Leung still finds himself in James's path to the ball- Let Ball. 2nd scene- the second bounce is right next to Leung and Willstrop is prepared and able to strike the ball- Stroke.
That second one... STROKE. 😬😬
Stttttrriiiiike I mean stroke.
It’s hard to tell from the camera angle. The length of the first one was very poor, so it could easily have been a stroke. The second one sort of looked like it was coming back towards the middle, so perhaps even more of a stroke(?). But nothing will ever compare to giving Palmer a let on a super obvious stroke on match point for the title. Worst call I’ve ever seen. Cost him the title.
Man, disrespecting a legend like that smh 🤦♂️

Let Ball
It wasn't a stroke because Wilstrop wrong footed initially into a wrong line hence resulting into a let call.
But the shot was loose as a goose. He recovered and should be a stroke more than a let.
On the backhand possibly no let(he needed to go to behind Henry to hit it), on the forehand possibly a stroke, he's a big gangly b is James.........lol
They were the right calls
Both very poor shots and both Strokes
Both calls were correct...Willsttop being a drama queen...time to retire oldman 😂😂
You have to give it to Willstrop he is one of the few that does not throw a complete tantrum after a controversial point…
Instead he does a theatrical face ;-) his second love
