    • He is certainly not a genius Not when he resorts to making fun of Susie Boyle who has Asperger's Which she didn't ask to have,so she can't help it This is not me being a snowflake but when an alleged stand up comic, has to resort to using offensive words, they go down in my estimation

    • Ricky Gervais!..the human equivalent of a Michael Bay film. Lots of noise, explosions, and CGI, but ultimately hollow and forgettable. You throw enough controversy and shock value around, and sure, you grab attention, but what's left when the smoke clears? Just another dude in a bathrobe yelling at clouds, mate.Turns out your whole 'edgy provocateur' schtick ain't so edgy when it's your only trick. It's like juggling chainsaws...impressive the first time, but after the fifth time, someone starts wondering if you just can't ride a unicycle.

    • I think he's entered the territory, here, though with the Susan Boyle stuff. Woke is part of the power system but an inoffensive little middle aged woman with learning difficulties isn't, so why the personal attack? I can't think of a single era in history when that would be acceptable. Up until now I have been on his side, but not in this instance.

    • What an opportunist to target minorities. Perhaps a word on eating disorders would have been appropriate, where people do not have their free will... often due to traumas caused by 'middle-aged white men' making 'funny second degree jokes'. The pseudo-vulgarity assumed is rather consistent with the character, I validate this aspect. In other words, it's been seen for decades, it's boring, and retrograde.

I pointed at his gut and said that THAT looked like torture. Can you imagine carrying your twin strapped to your midrift?! Glandular? oh BS! my diet? mssg me

I went into a major bank at 10 in the morning and tried to withdraw $5000 in cash and they said the best they could do was $3000 and I'd need to get the other $2000 at another branch down the street. Any more and they might not have enough for other customers the rest of the day. Probably why I can't remember the last time I heard of a bank being robbed.

  • He is brill! The Office is a genius piece of work. Those of us who have worked in that environment saw it all so clearly! The Susan Boyle sketch is exactly how the whole of the UK thought and more cynically how Simon Cowell thought…ker ching ££££ he thought once they hear ‘the mong’ has the voice of a great singer I’m quids in. Not staged at all! Tear jerker!!! Played the UK public like a fiddle. Ricky says it’s how we all see it but are too programme to not to. We should be vilifying the puppet masters like Simon Cowell, politicians, big companies and the society that says we must conform, not realists like Ricky, who does it with humour but is clever enough to make you sit and think. X

  • I am a huge fan of Ricky Gervais both professionally and personally. I do have to say, however, that I didn't reallt appreciate the manner in which his humour turned against Susan Boyle. Whilst his words about Britain's Got Tallent' are correct and even the exageratwd talent of Susan may have some merit, I feel she is also very vulnerable and has had a very difficult life. Further, even if her genere of music is limited and perhaps límited in its apeal, she clearly is hugely tallented. I have read her biography and I came away from reading that book with a huge amount of respect for her and felt she wad very deserving of her new found success even of she was not emmotionally equiped to deal with it as others may be. This sketch lead me asking myself if Ricky had perhaps over stepped the mark of decency here and actually indirectly insulted Susan just.as Graham Norton did on his Radio 2 show when he played one of her.records and as Jonathan Ross did to the Iseralie trans singer some years ago when she was a guest singer on a show. I reallt thought Ricky Gervias was better than this.
