  • I run my D5mr right beside the hannya, yd2, and mst chassis at my local track. I dont feel disadvantaged at all. Infact my car is on the faster side. Good electronics are more important than the chassis. I run a d10 motor, XR10 stock spec esc and a full futaba s.bus suite. R33 receiver, gyd550 gyro, ct500 servo. My whole car even with top of the line electronics cost about what the other spent on just their chassis.

    @DJ.1001@DJ.1001 Жыл бұрын
    • This is my mindset as well. As long as the chassis can be adjusted the way you need, and its durable, it should do just fine. I also agree that money is better spent on electronics, for a better driving car. Thank you for reporting your feedback on your rig!!

    • @@upbgenoob5488I’m like you if I want to start a new hobby I’ll buy in as cheap as possible for me that was buying a used Sakura d4 that was rtr for $100. It was brushed also. After a couple tweaks and a different set of tires and a LOT of practice. Because it’s unlike any other rc driving experience. You need to practice practice practice. You’ll get better and learn the car over time. I now have thousands invested into rc drifting. If I could start over I’d change nothing.

  • I have an old HPI sprint2 from back in the day and want to get back into drifting. Thoughts on making it RWD? I’ve just kept it brushed as it came and upgraded the ESC to handle lipo. Just as fun :)

    @JohnnyTsunami_@JohnnyTsunami_9 ай бұрын
    • Hey Johnny! I would say it wouldn't hurt to try, if you are getting back into the hobby. It likely won't have the same geometry as newer rigs, but you've already got it! You could remove the front belt, but you will need to add a gyro inline with your servo, and hope your servo will be compatible. I wouldn't spend too much on it, and would suggest spending money on a newer chassis, if you are wanting to seriously get back into drifting.

      @turtlelaboratories@turtlelaboratories9 ай бұрын
    • @@turtlelaboratories That’s a great idea! I was debating on getting a Yeah Racing RWD suspension kit to get something similar to the geometry of newer chassis but it’s $140 :/ Im gonna give it a shot and see how it goes. Do you think a stronger motor is generally necessary for RWD drifting vs AWD? Stock came w a 15T Brushed motor.

  • I have a brushless combo in my FTX Vantage 2.0. would this be ok in a drift car?

    @cyborgbadger1015@cyborgbadger10152 ай бұрын
    • It would make the car go, but I would suggest going a different route. That FTX Vantage seems to come with a sensorless motor/esc combo. A sensored setup will have more control over throttle input and feathering. Also an ESC that is tunable helps dial in the car to suit your driving style.
