The Blue Ring Octopus is notoriously the most deadly animal on the planet due to its extremely venomous bite. Just one chomp contains enough venom to kill over 20 people!
In this video Mark Vins will attempt to touch this creature to prove the blue ring octopus can only harm you if bitten...or so he thinks.
Will he survive this daring encounter? You’re about to find out!

Got to love a sweet octopus! Cheers mate

9 brains, 3 hearts, camouflage and the ability to kill up to 20 humans. This octopus is definitely OP
He’s the final boss
Did I miss the update or smn
OP-topus

Blue ring octopus needs a nerf
That's kind of crazy that it doesn't produce the venom, but collects it
The part that blows my mind is that it somehow it “sorts” through the bacteria and keeps the stuff it wants.
Yeah that’s some crazy stuff
Yeah, God made it special
there are also mammals like the platypus and slow loris that secrete venom. some i think collect from eating venomous insects.
Yep
I had one as a pet in 2011. Local pet store received it in a shipment of live rocks. They didn't know what to do with it so they sold it to me. They are extremely smart. It recognized me and would turn white whenever it saw me. My sister, on the other hand, it flashed its colors at her on sight. It hated that she would tap the glass.
did it die?
Live rocks?
@@xxthecoremanxx3448 , yea. Had it for two months. They don't live long. No idea how old it was when I got it.
Are they venomous when kept as pets because you can change their diet like poison dart frogs or does their essential diet include this bacteria?
@@joshuamirabal3617 I didn't test it, but assumed it was poisonous.

@@DianaGarcia-ey2tlseems to me you’re not too much a fan if you refer to coyote Peterson as the OG guy and mark as some other guy.
If you were to get bit, we don’t stand to gain anything from it because it’s already known they are truly deadly. I don’t like these kind of risks! It’s enough to just see one up close and personal. Please be SAFE!
True
100%
It’s enough for us but I think that one was a personal goal of his lol he probably wanted to touch it because he knows he isn’t supposed to
It isn't much of a risk because they are extremely docile and aren't interested in biting something they can't possibly eat. Just a gentle poke like he gave it was not threatening or painful to it so it wasn't going to react. They are just creating drama where there really isn't any. It's a TV show remember.
it's irresponsible to do it for clicks because now someone will repeat it saying "if this guy can survive so can i" you'd never even feel a bite you'd just die later we don't learn anything
The Box jellyfish: “am I joke to to you”
The fact that this isnt one of those "Im going to let this thing sting and bite me just to test how painful it is" and was more of a "Oh SH** it touched me!" *Anxiety attack* vid, just proves how truely deadly those things are.
"Nothing is more toxic than this tiny little octopus" wait till you meet my ex
Haha I feel your pain
This dude is gonna be like “this is a .45 ACP fired from a colt 1911. They say that just one shot to the brain will kill a man. Well I’m here to test that.”
Mark literally had the balls to touch the most dangerous octopus. I give Mark and Coyote so much respect, they are brave!
And that’s why there called the brave wilderness they deserved it 😂
Technically, if you bit him: he'd die too 😂
Also if you bit it, you’d die too as they are not just venomous, but poisonous too and have the same type of poison as puffers. They’re really toxic little buggers across the board.
U both r so right
if coyote would have been bit by it, theres no way the venom of the octopus could survive coyote's arm full of venom
I think coyote was bitten by one once. After 3 days of intense agony, the octopus died. xP
@@SuperSoundtracks3 days? I heard it was three minutes…
Love these guys, thanks for taking stings for our amusement/knowledge. Keep up the amazing work.
This is a dude who knows EXACTLY what he's doing here. He's done all the research he could possibly do and, intentionally, is only barely touching this animal with enough venom to kill TWENTY of him. Imagine all the people who have no idea about this octopus and have had the misfortune of accidentally stepping on one or picking one up, getting stung and thinking nothing of it then suffering the consequences
I used to think these animals where kinda just a bit painful, but this channel makes me actually realise how dangerous these cute lil octopi are
You're the reason this vid had to be made on such a known channel :3 There are so many criminally cute things that are dangerous (most recent one I got curious about was the tasmanian devil)

Respect? He molested it for clicks.

Absolutely gorgeous animal. I love octopi, and the luminescent blue is just so striking. electric blue is my favorite color and this animal is just so cool, and to top it off, having one of the most toxic venoms in the animal kingdom makes it all the more cooler.
Mate please dont put yourself in that situation! no one on this channel is asking you to touch it, or any animal in fact. It was sad to see you have such anxiety and panic over being bitten and to think of it HAD gone for your finger... is your life really worth the amount of likes from this video? (which wouldnt even be uploaded if you had died!?) We are here to see the animals and to learn about them, not to see you be scared around them! Keep yourself safe!
They've been doing this for years. Testing out the pain and venom of bites so we don't have to, and so we know what to avoid. But, I agree. Just saying, don't come at me.
@@thetimingog7516the bites and stings they’ve tested up until now haven’t had the chance of being deadly. Painful yes, but not deadly. This proved nothing. Everyone knows it’s deadly. Same reason they don’t test the bite of a rattlesnake.
@@thetimingog7516 Iknow, and I do love those sting episodes and such but THIS was a different level
my point still stands. None of us asked him to touch the most dangerous animal on the planet?... Your logic is flawed. If you worked as a carpenter and you were training someone , would you go touch a spinning saw blade and hope it doesnt chop your finger off? Well maybe you should because youre teaching someone, and the newbie is learning@@dreampainter2011
@@thetimingog7516 No, not really. If you've grown in the countryside or just in touch with nature, with Coyote you immediately get the vibes he wants you to get. While Mark, still educating on how these animals behave, we do not need to know how dangerous they are. They are dangerous enough for us to know that we need to be extremely careful around them. There are no variants to each individual: you don't get treated, you'll die. "But he got stung by a stonefish..." in an extremely controlled environment. I remember my first venomous snake encounter. Nearly walked into a Cottonmouth that was on the trail. Not more than 10 minutes later, two more Cottonmouths coiled up near a wood boardwalk. I had a "caffeine jitter" high for nearly 30 minutes after. A little stressful from the near-accident, but mostly really excited to have had such an encounter. I've had several sightings since and it still gets my heart racing a little. Thank goodness for stabilized camera lenses, right?
Why is everything in Australia just so dangerous. XD

You can still educate people without having to touch.. Very amazing creature!
Need click bait to lure in ppl and be able to educate them. Ppl don't normally just look for a blue ring octopus video.....ik I wasn't lol
It's part clickbait, and part showing that these animals don't exist just to bite and kill people
Exactly what I was thinking. "Catching the deadliest octopus" would have made the deal
This creature is the very embodiment of look but don't touch! After hearing the litany of ways this creature will kill you the only question I have to you wanting to touch it is.......why???
Coyote has said in interviews during his King of Sting run that he did it because it brings in more viewers than just showing video of the animal.
Mark is pretty genuine and relatable so to see a vid on the blue ringed octopus really shows me what has more of a chance of happening out of the three.
That octopus gave him a tentacle handshake with his finger. The Anxiety of it saying hi was bonechilling and cute. You have my respect and I wish you many blessings and safety
The cameraman seeing the blue ring the whole time but keeping it to himself
Cameramans are known to possess skills that are beyond thinking. For example how they fly around a black hole and document them. Crazy.
It's almost as if some of these scene are scripted or at least repeated for the camera, because they can't keep rolling all day long ...

I was envenomated by a blue ring octopus in northern Australia many years ago around small rock pools like these. Thing is I hadn't been bitten, I had put my hand into the water to pick up a small stick I had been using to play with the octopus, not knowing that you can be envenomated through the water though the skin! It was not serious I had difficulty breathing for maybe a couple of minutes but sure to say it was the last time I tried that. Don't put your hand into the water nearby one of these they can poison the water around them and their eggs
So , what happened next ?? Did you Survive??
@@chrisiswinchristian15 it would appear so don't you think champ. I got an idea. Why don't you try handling one of these small creatures and find out for yourself?
This is awesome! I didn't know that there are four varieties of Blue Ring Octopus, it was nice seeing that one. I guess you could have seen any of them.
Before my first trip to Australia many years ago, I studied up on the deadly creatures there…and then I decided that going to the beach was a bad idea. Walking around in nature seemed like a bad idea, too. Even having a hotel room on the ground floor seemed like a bad idea. One day, we were walking along a sidewalk on Sydney Harbour and we saw the most gigantic box jellyfish I’d ever seen swimming along near the surface. I know the really big ones aren’t the deadliest ones, but it still made me secure in my decision to stay out of the water entirely.
The venomous box jellyfish are native to Queensland in Northern Australia not South Eastern Australia, if you were in Sydney that Jellyfish you saw in the water there wouldn't have posed you any risk. The water at beaches like Bondi is very safe when it comes to wildlife, the worst thing you might encounter in that water is a blue bottle which is a sting that's slightly painful for about 20 minutes, I got stung as a kid and didn't even cry for reference. The biggest risk of the water in Sydney would be the rips not the wildlife, but as long as you swim between the flags you would be fine. Also missing out on the nature in Australia because you're afraid of a snake is silly, realistically only 1-2 people a year die from snake bites. I'm 28 and have been bushwalking, camping and hiking my whole life, and I've literally only encountered wild snakes once in my entire life. Snakes like to avoid people. Also no one has died from a spider bite since 1982 and the most venomous type of spider the Funnel Web is very shy, they burrow themselves in deep holes. The other venomous verities like Red Backs would be comparable to Black Widows you get in the US, it's not something to really worry about. So yeah largely the danger of wildlife in Australia is way over-exaggerated.
I live in northern ireland and entering the water makes me wary because im so scared of sharks and crocodiles and we have neither and in fact have no dangerous animals in water but there's always a little bit of who knows takes over me by water
Meanwhile children swim in our beaches lol. Just to put into perspective how ridiculous this comment is. Also just noticed your name says Texas and if that's where you actually live then you should be this scared at home aswell.

Mark:Talks about the blue ringed octopus being the most dangerous animal on earth due to its toxins Also Mark: *proceeds to get bit by it*
So, if the blue ring octopus gets its venom from it’s surroundings, then if it’s born and raised in captivity, in a tank with clean water it won’t have any venom in its bite?
The Blue Ring Octopus 🐙 is definitely one of my favorite animals
"My name is Coyote Peterson, and today i am gonna be jumping into an active volcano!"
The fact that you are lucid and aware of everything happening but unable to communicate is probably the most terrifying part. Imagine getting CPR and the person thinks its too late, youre gone but youre screaming at them in your head that you're still alive.
Tbh I think the octopus used to send venom, but due to environment changes I think they mutated to store venom. Really cool feature they have
While this animal is indeed deadly, none of the lists I looked at have it as #1. That honor often belongs to the box jellyfish.
I wish we could eradicate them all. I hate them.
I honestly never saw a octopus or squid but mark lets me see this and Coyote and mark gives us a very educational life’s lesson just to observe from a very safe space and they show us what happens if u mess with it
He be describing what he is feeling while dying
I will say it was very interesting to witness how debilitating anxiety can be. How Mark's anxiety started to mimic the initial symptoms he would have experienced if actually bit. When I lived in Australia (I am from the US), the list of animals to avoid is intense especially coming from the US where there are very few animals capable of killing you (our venomous snakes and even our alligators pale in comparison to all the venomous snakes and saltys). Hell, there is even a bird in Australia that can kill you. All that being said the blue ring and the box jelly fish were the ones we were told there was no coming back from. I would love to learn more about this venom/toxin and what makes it so lethal.
I have a feeling that most Americans don't understand how much more dangerous Australian saltwater crocodiles are in comparison to alligators or even any other kind of crocodile, makes alligators look like big puppies.
I’m not even surprised that you did the challenge with the Blue Ringed Octopus. It was amazing to see Miller here also. Blue Ringed Octopuses are absolutely beautiful. Stay safe
“I’m Coyote Peterson and I’m about to die”
I’ve been watching these guys since 2019 and I’m always entertained
He’s trying to die at this point.
There's no value in touching it. At least the stings are interesting. But this is like massaging a sea snake.
It’s interesting to me that 3 of the 4 blue ringed octopus species have overlapping ranges, with the blue lined completely overlapping with the greater blue ringed. Wonder how they came to speciate and what if any niche partitioning there is?
Personally, by him deliberately touching it was asking for trouble although it was educational and informative. Really shouldn't mess with them or touch them. They are a very beautiful creature but deadly and should be appreciated by a distance to be safe.
I almost had a heart attack looking at this man being bit

A few years ago I went for a muck dive, to see some octopuses. The first one we saw was a big one, hiding in a jar, and our dive guide played with it and grabbed it. Later we saw two tiny cute looking octopuses, and I started playing with one of them, touching it and putting it on my hand. I heard the guide snap his metal stick on his oxygen tank and wildly signaling me to stop. He told me after the dive it were two blue dotted octopuses

since you're in Australia, @BraveWilderness, try and look up any info on a large spikey spider. they're usually yellow, orange, blackface, white tips on their feet. very large, look like a cactus. i hate spiders, but this type has interested me for years. just think it be great for the channel if you found one or any info on the type and if they're dangerous (likely, being in Australia)
I did some research based on your description and found a spider called Austracantha or Jewel Spider. Is that the species you’re referring to? It kind of reminds me of a species we have in Florida called the Spiny orb weaver
I had a pop up book as a kid ( maybe 5 or 6 yrs old) "deadliest creatures" , had a black widow, monocle cobra, and the last page was a blue ringed octopus, accompanied by stories the BR was about an Australian surfer that picked one up as it was beautiful and dropped dead walking up the beach...that book messed me up man lol. I collect venemous snakes and rare tree tarantulas, have an american alligator i take on leashed walks , and have had some pretty serious saltwater setups...THANKS MOM!!!! youve cost me about 300k over the years lol😅 Oh, and -> SICK VIDEO BROTHER
When I was younger (definitely old enough to know better) my cousin and I went rock pooling at this exact spot. Within maybe 15 minutes we caught 2 or 3 blue lined octopus in a glass jar wanting to watch them light up. We knew they were pretty venomous and used sticks to coax them in but looking back it was incredibly dangerous (no gloves and wearing thongs). I've told a bunch of my friends this story so it's cool to have a BW video at the exact same spot for some proof!
