These bodies make every camper's heart beat faster: Individually designed and extravagantly furnished long-distance motorhomes are the latest craze on the caravan market - at least for those amateur campers who can afford the unusual models. The off-road companions and rolling luxury suites have no upper price limits. Who are the owners of the most expensive caravans in Germany, and what about the hoods of their rolling homes?

Why would we? you lied about this video. The title is motorhomes for adventure. Off road caravans. This is about a fire truck conversion and nothing else. I'm sorry do you even watch these shitty videos before you post them. It would really help when you get around to naming it. Ass Face.

As a Swiss citizen that speaks German, I have to say, this is one of the best English translation i've ever heard. 👍
That german people are at another level. They build exelent machines.
This is what happens when rich people find out about camping
Lool
Camping is where there is fire, canvas, quiet, stakes and ropes. This is motorhoming, as in NOT CAMPING NOW!
If your gonna camp, camp in style
Camping?
What happens when rich people find out about camping? U.N. Agenda 21.
I swear this is one of the greatest channels on KZhead. I can't believe how amazing the content is. It's like having Discovery Channel, Built it Bigger, Megabuilders, and Building Giants all back at once.
Welcome aboard!
@@WELTDocumentary Thanks guys. I love this channel. I have it bookmarked on my browser homepage. It's like having a whole new Discovery or Engineering Channel. The production value is off the charts!
To everyone at WELT. Thanks for all the awesome episodes. It is channels like thís that make me watch KZhead👍🇿🇦
Ja, baie lekker Boet!!!!
Uses a 30 year old truck as his working truck. That’s cool as hell!
Well done!!! driving without seat belts fastened and off road with the free seat shock absorber !!! really congratulations !!!
High level expertise - these guys are really impressive. German engineering 👍
German precision, both bottom and high end, pure perfection.
Andre is the brain behind everything, smart guy

@@fas8437 Really ? you need to get that checked out.
love the solid liver German shorthaired pointer he has.. GSPs are probably the best dogs for this lifestyle.. besides being great on the trail they are so loving and cuddly!!
Das sehre shune und unglaublish,it’s just absolutely incredible.
Amazing - both!!! Rarely have I enjoyed a KZhead documentary as much 👍🏽
I watched this video last night. My whole life I'd never seen a firetruck like that since I live in the US. So Im stopped at a light a few minutes ago, and what pulls up next to me? THE SAME RED MERCEDES FIRE TRUCK! In California!! It was the two bay version, but other than that identical!
noooo, give me a TOUR of the awesome INTERIORS!
Andre is very innovative.......its amazing work.....very captivating to c how they turned an old truck into a beautiful motorhome.
I like that the Berlin boss still has a haircut from 1989... probably kept it as a souvenir after "die Wende"
WELT is amazing.......the way they turned and old fire truck into a beautiful motor home is lovely..such hard work and precesion ....you guys are amazing...
That's one well preserved Firetruck container. Damn...
Good job Andre and team!
great documentary. i really like the small outfit that work with the older vehicles. the MAN was nice but shows that if you throw enough money at something you will get it.
Just brilliant! I'd be happy with either of the motorhomes, but bigger is better if one can afford it.
Speaking as a truck driver, I thought that old Mercedes would be a dog to drive (having plenty of experience with that model) But after the upgrades, it looked prettty swish as it goes. I've got to say though, That M.A.N is a real beast. I'd love to take it on holiday, but i wouldn't want to go into any wilderness or dodgy countries for fear of bandits. My destiniations would be plenty tame!
I love my off road rv like that , bought it out of Alaska
Very Interesting, Really Enjoyed
I really liked the smaller one much better. That other behemoth will have so many limitations on where you can actually drive lmao
giud fírvyiu
Two completely badass vehicles. It blows my mind that the smaller of the two only has a 280hp engine, for reference my BMW S1000RR motorcycle has 205hp. The fact that the smaller vehicle is so capable of moving that amount of mass so efficiently yet only has 75hp more then my motorcycle is mind blowing 🤯. Nice work to all the gentleman involved in both projects 👍 👏 Truly beautiful work. 👍😉😎👍
Its all about torque and torque conversion
Your bike, if you can call it a motorcycle. That piece of art is designed for speed, style and raw horsepower. If you do that to an engine it may fail, failing is usually fatal or atleast takes it out. Underpowered engines last longer.
Amazing work.. this video was well put and details and approach wonderful.. awesome wrk 👍👍👍👍 well done projects so professional
German engineering at its finest! 👌🏼
Beautiful and elaborate smart building process, I wish you success always
@WELT Documentary keep making great documentaries hope to see more .
Essa Man é um monstro! Eu ficaria um pouco feliz com um desse. ❤
This is the 3rd time I’ve watched this video and like the previous twice I’ve watched it it’s just like watching it for the first time it is that good and thank you for making this video. 🙏🙏🙏
Amazing watch, thanks.
We have many "Grey Nomads" traveling around Australia in RVs and caravans/trailers. Some of them want to go north, up Cape Yorke. Very few of their vehicles survive more that 20 km or so off the bitumen. They shake to death on the corrugations. Proper off-road vehicles like these are the way to go. We've been building them for at least 60 years, but probably not as lux as these ones.
the rockers are crazy amazing
I love those pass through doors
This quarantine made us watch countless hours of different videos.
The MAN is so beautiful and so much power from the engine
Great job! But what happened with the green cabin? As was said "repainted". But the silver one is kind of medium size between the red one and silver.
This is freaking awsum & of course alot of work, yall did a excellent job. I would love to have one but whew the 💰 for them is ouch so I would be happy just to check one out.
I’d rather have the fire truck version. Both are beautiful trucks, but to me the fire truck guys are kinda the underdogs coming in for the win!
Wow! I want the 8x8 but with a isx15 Cummins engine with all of the manual gears possible! And I want lockers all the way around! And a 100% bullet proof and bomb proof construction!
Agreed! Me too, especially with the bullet and bomb proofing. Hell yeah. Love this shit.
The quality of the build would amazing if this were offered by any of the bigger camper makers, but it's downright staggering for a DIY. The level of clear vision and innovation is just amazing. The bathroom looks like it works well and the inside/outside pantry access will be standard on top tier campers in the future. My only possible change might be the exterior color to better blend in with the intended operating environment. Although, as many boaters know, white yields less thermal stress on the skin and makes for a cooler interior which is a big plus in the warmer climes, and/or seasons. All in all, on a scale or 0-10, I'd give a "100". Out of ten. That's how beyond full scale I see this.
Awesome!!! Every second of this video was worth watching! Content you can actually learn something from.
This video is epic guys!! I’ve got an off grid short bus camper. Not quite as gnar as these but I overland with it! It does great! 🤙🤙
Nice, this was very interesting! But the 8x8 MAN is being tested on ground that can be driven by a normal car without much problems.... the old Merc, now thats a proper test! i really like the look of the MAN but if had to choose one i'd go for the 4x4 mercedes. the builder is right, the older engine and such can be fixed way easier in the wild.
10:15 “A truck weighing machine,” also known as a “scale.”
I can't help but think that gonna look nice when it tips on its side and wrecks those "real glass windows"
Thank you for this excellent documentary!
*THIS type of vehicle is my dream home!* ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
keep dreaming my friend.. = D
Amazing documentary production! 👍🏻
Excellent hard work, high quality stuff used
👍👍 Absolutely stunning and jaw droppingly impressive!
after this i just remember tornberry's family
Those were them days....😌
(26:36) - Don't like the way that ceiling edge "underlaps" the side wall. OK, it will be sealed but after a few years of harsh sunlight and other extreme weather, the sealant will become brittle and crack. All along the top edges is just rain-leaking waiting to happen. If only the outer edge of the ceiling *_overlapped,_* rather than underlapped, then any failing sealant would be much less of a problem. I wish the guys building this thing would comment on my concern. >
I agree. Or add another flap outside for double lapping.
Yep, it's a silly mistake! If it's overlap there's no sealant needed
@@checkmilu That was in purpose, they want the prince to come again in the next few years for service... lol..
Takes 'glamping' to the next level! I will camp in my element thanks.

great video loved it one best i seen for long time
This is one of the things I'd spend a big windfall on. I have been away in Africa and South America in overland trucks on Safari and crossing the Amazon, and there really is nothing quite like it. With this current situation, I can't think of a better way to travel short of a private jet and megayacht.
@@onlysolutions6612 payback for what? I don't follow, I was talking about how useful an all terrain fully contained transport that is capable of travelling to the sparcely populated parts of the world far away from suburban pandemic lockdowns would be,
This is how you get robbed in south America or Africa
Great video. Keep them coming OR translate the other ones :-)
Hello you...
Truck weighing machine ? A scale, perhaps ?
Done a few trips to Africa and South America in vehicles similar to these, no luxury but you definitely get off the beaten track.
Thanks KZhead for the recommendation
16:47 "De-cabitated" lol 🤣😂🚚🚛
They said they were swapping the single cab with a double cab with 4 seats. The finished vehicle only had the single cab with 2 seats. Did I miss something? Where is the double cab?
It is a double cab
I was thinking the same. It's neither the origional cab nor the green one, Probably one they made earlier!
It's an extended cab back backseats fold down
this is actually a double cab manual sep fold bi-tech system, so youre wrong...the double cab is directly imbedded in an al insertion pipes, taking big d in the bum while cabbing the truck swartz had that in his detailed conversion planning.
Thank You ..
I love how the campervan comes out looking like the HVY Brickade from GTA V/Online
This is exactly what I would consider traveling in or even living in on the road. This so amazing 🤩
I like the princes monster but I would have added all wheel steering because with that tandem front end you have the turning radius of an ocean liner.. other than that it is awesome
It isn't really meant for the roads. It's more of a cross continent vehicle. I watch a couple small KZheadrs who take theirs across different continents and don't really take paved roads very often. Adding rear wheel steering is just another thing to break while offroading.
@@deekamikaze yeah but on a tight trail with a long vehicle it is worth its weight in gold..
The vehicle is almost useless w/o some kind of compensating turning/steering feature for the rear wheels...without it, when run off road (truly off road) will constantly run into malfunction junctions....tight turns especially and with such a high center of gravity extreme care would have to be exercised negotiating grades which require a steep traverse...analogy might be, vehicle is like a beautiful woman that can't do anything in bed...lol And it would be pointless to pour so much into a project like this unless it could truly off road.....
@@deekamikaze which channels? I'd like to watch that.
@@CuriousGoose Peter Strub is the channel that comes to mind. I can't remember the name of the other channel.
excellent work
nice and perfect vehicles
“But after 30 years together, the 2 are far from willing to part” idk why I loved that line so much 😂
It’s a rather romantic comment.
This team of young mechanical engineers have made the dreams of these adventurists come true. This documentary certainly promotes those who have the wherewithal to live and give their kids that feeling of the outdoors and adventure. Fantastic construction and brilliantly depicted. Thanks for the thrills
How much do comments like this cost, you transparent shill?
To be fair, the "Old East German Crane" is in fact Swedish - HIAB from the North of Sweden! 😉
Impressive. I really like my Tundra/ FourWheel camper.
As always, love the Germans total dedication to quality from start to finish. Seems to me the problem of allowable weight for the rating of the owners driver’s license could be improved by the driver qualifying for a superior rating? It becomes evident that this isn’t a huge factory set up with high end equipment to do the total build under one roof. That’s ok for me. It shows they hustle parts and trucks from wherever they can and then have to engineer on the fly, take in customer requests and modify to supply. They are a small group with broad skill sets. They discussed the length of the chassis may be a problem over harsh terrain. Would it be possible to have some kind of articulating knuckle in the middle so that you could momentarily accommodate a high center type of situation. It would offer the owner/driver an option to safely drive his rig out of that unbalanced scenario. love the mock-up on the separate wooden unit that will be the layout the customer wants.
They have that artic in the center in certain dumptrucks, it's called a wigwag and it's a complete fuckup. Look up center steer or wigwag fuck ups. They're rather spectacular
Yes unlike the American auto workers who always are looking for short cuts at an over inflated price. The American AUTO Workers have always been notorious for COST OVER RUNS of cheaply made products. Lately the Americans have become parred with China in cheap goods. But unlike China the American cheap goods are extremely expensive. I really love the way Germany works with extreme pride in their work. It's their dedication for perfection that really impresses me.
Yup, Germans "Engineering stuff on the fly" is something of their specialty, yes?
What they fail to discuss is how many place you can actually drive those things - the beautiful, desirable locations don't allow giant trucks tearing up the pristine landscape. In the locations nobody cares if it gets torn up, nobody wants to spend much time in because it is dull and un-glamourous. Expensive overland vehicles overland about 20% for actual overlanding, the rest of the time, they will be where everyone else is - in campgrounds, in parking lots, and on roads.
Mudrunner mods are looking good!
one of my favorite rabbit holes badass
I WANT ONE OK, I LIKE THEM ALOT.
The servants will follow behind in 25 of his Toyota Land cruisers.

Thanks for sharing, good vid' we apreciate to talk about prices. With a good used truck (old army) we can expect a good camper for a total price less than 100 000 US$. The word is "travel as light as possible" And for me the 30 Years truck merco is the limit. I used the same for heavy jobs such as jobs with oil companies. But spare parts are expensives.
chraséler bybrré miñí van unver 10000
Impressive
Did I understand this right, they are using the existing motor from one of the trucks, and not even a rebuild, or what I would demand, a fully new diesel crate motor? Interesting vlog Welt, Thanks
Shouldnt the frame have been Z cut before welding for more strength?
R CC good point.

yup
6.000 working hours for the carpenter is like almost 3 YEARS. Is this possible!?!😨😨😨
Ok, I like the size vehicle and the box size that they made for the prince, I liked the separate shower area that’s a plus! I also liked the end to end winches, another plus? The other thing is instead of a full size bed could you get a queen size instead? In the kitchen area can you get a drawer type frig with freezer and a dual cab…..just asking? I liked the slide out as well and the teak veneer touch.
Saw the larger truck in the intro and immediately thought "This is something an Arab prince would by for one season, clout, and have it occupy a garage until they resell it five years later. Then they confirmed that 10 minutes in.
Made in Germany 👌👍
The prince is really hands on with his camper not sending his lackey to take care of it like all the other rich people and their toys
Amazing
Its very insane, i just keep imagine having this truck
