I'm excited for my grandsons birthday in 50 years when OLED gaming monitors with perfect response time and HDR will finally be a thing.
Bold of you to assume we survive covid
U be dead anyway gg
You mean MicroLed
I think your grandson would say: "OLED-what?" "It is a screen technology for home use" "Oh, grandpa, you sweet old man, you mean that ancient technology from before the 2040's? We don't use that anymore, we have our augmented contact lenses."
Not perfect response times, but hella fast. But almost black transitions are slow though and u see black smearing.
DUDE I'M SO HAPPY!! This morning I saw your Omen HP 27" 1440p review, right as I finish and settle on buying it, it's sold out everywhere and don't feel like waiting so I settled for this one (but didn't know you review it). Picked the last one at BestBuy, came home, tested it. Now, only to see (and watch) that you did review the VG279QM and that your title boosts it. Not only do I feel good about my purchase, I can't wait to see what you can teach me about it! Yay! :D
Thank you for the review!! I suggested this on the last review and appreciate you listening to your viewers request very much🙏. Alien ware recently released the AW2720HF which is also a 240hz ips display of you are interested in continuing the series. However as of now I’m sold on the Asus monitor. Keep doing your thing!
Me, still having a 10 year old, HD Ready monitor... I feel like the built-in speakers are the most useless thing in any recently released monitor thats above $150
@Josh Wallace my aoc 24g2 is the version with extra speakers and a usb hub... didnt cost more. it is an okay extra, yeah the speakers are shit, but they are an extra
built in speakers are something I appreciate, since I always use headphones and don't want a set of speakers cluttering things. So when occasionally I want my wife or kids to be able to hear, flipping to some shitty monitor speaker is perfect. The actual useless feature is probably the extra 40hz, given the already small to non existent benefit of going from 144 to 240
I use my built in speakers all the time on my asus MG279Q. They come in handy for youtube viewing when just sitting about eating lunch or casually watching content. I'll use my headphones otherwise but the speakers are very nice to have.
I guess the speakers are there to support consoles for people who don't have a TV. It is sort of a gimmick. But to me it is a welcome one even with the crap quality.
@@fVNzO Soooo terrible though. It was one of the features I looked for when I bought my monitor and they're basically useless. Zero bass, zero treble all mids. I laughed so hard the first time I heard them.
"They're offering 6 overdrive modes labeled Zero to 100." Makes sense.

man your videos are really descriptive and packed full of required informations. All your monitor review videos were great.
This guy is literally the best hardware reviewer, genuine tester on KZhead 2020. Keep it up!
At 2:55 you should put a clip of you describing the monitor's flexibility on the screen while you were making the adjustments. Would be extra work, but would've caught me off-guard and imo would be humorous. Awesome vid!
I’m excited for the day when there’s a single decent monitor in stock at any store 😋
This. And have you noticed how 60Hz monitors have become more expensive lately?
I've been trying to buy the AOC 144HZ IPS for the last month.
@@bocconom getting new 1080p 60hz monitor is a waste of money anyway
Totally THIS! Also I got disappointed when this was actually in stock but only 1080p not 1440p...
Shanez1215 lamp good luck. That thing is always out of stock.
Monitor manufacturers should feature an "adaptive" overdrive option that adjusts for the best overdrive at each refresh rate.
Thats pretty much what Monitors with an actual Nvidia Gsync Module can do. They adjust the overdrive impulse based on your refresh rate. Sadly Freesync monitors do not have that kind of feature.
G-sync? 😋
@@TheThunder168 its not an g sync exclusive feature. Some freesync monitors have it. Its extremely difficult to make for the vendor. Thats why going for gsync (which already has it) can be easier but ofcourse more expensive aswell.
@Manuel G yeah samsung did a great job tuning the overdrive on g7 and g9
I think I need to upgrade my eyes to appreciate this.
Even 2 years later this monitor holds up extremely well. If you pause at 5:40 you can see the refresh rate compliance and overshoot is near perfect at 240hz so I use the monitor at 240hz fixed refresh rate. Even in 2023 I'd recommend buying this. I also have a 1440p 240hz samsung odyssey g7 and for games like valorant I still much prefer this monitor (the 25 inch version that is)
Can you give me the colour profile for the 25inch ? For best color accuracy
I need this too. I also need the best Response time to use from 1-100. I’ll really appreciate it
@@elijnr If you can maintain 200+ fps in the game youre playing and you have the monitor at 240hz, then OD 80 seems perfect.

Hi I’m new to this monitor and just purchased it. How often can you over lock you monitor before damage begins to occur?
This is an amazing, quality review, please Sir never stop doing those in depth monitor reviews, you really are unique in doing those.
your videos helped me in my purchase for a fast performing monitor and i gotta say the aorus kd25f name is still easy to say and its still a beast! thank you Hardware Unboxed
"Welcome back to hadron box" - Well, I guess it's time for the brandnew physics-merch collection to be released.
I think that the idea behind 27" 1080p monitors, despite the pixel density concern, is that compared to 24-25" panels, you can put 27-inchers farther away from your face to produce the same effect while being more easy on the eyes for longer game sessions. I use a 27" 1080p 165Hz monitor (Asus VG278QR) and I have to say, playing for 8 or so hours straight doesn't make my eyes feel fatigued at all and I've been doing that pretty consistently since the start of quarantine here.
I agree. I have both an LG 27 inch 1080p IPS 144hz and an AOC 24G2 with 24 inch ips 1080p 144hz. I mainly use Lg 27 inch and prefer it. The pixel density does not bother me at all. Plus my gaming Pc can run games easy 1080p res.
Please make a review of the Acer NITRO VG252QX 240hz IPS monitor, it looks like a really interesting budget option especially considering it's 1080p at 25". :)
Thanks for this upload, I was using the overdrive 60 for like a week now lol
thank youu been waiting for this
I would love to see a side by side comparison of the Asus VG279QM and the BenQ ZOWIE XL2546 for motion blur and features etc. Cheers!
Great Content as always! Any chance to see an Alienware AW2720HF review?
I got the VG278 some years ago and it's been a fantastic monitor. Maybe I'll look at upgrading to this.
Hey man absolutely LOVED the video, also, I loved the city top view wallpaper that you used, it would be great if you could tell me the name of it. Thanks in advance!😊
ELMB @ 240/270Hz might've interesting to test, given ELMB locks the OD @ 80 and seemingly anything below 200Hz in this case has noticeable overshoot with this model, hence why I guess the 144Hz here has the inverse ghosting and crosstalk. For whatever reason, the 280Hz ELMB not much clearer than the 280Hz with OD 80/ 140HZ ELMB seems a bit clearer overall, safe for the artefacts. This makes me wonder whether 240/270Hz might've yielded a better result. Sadly, with fixed refreshes 165, 180 and 200 are not options. Unless you're using VRR + FPS Limiter or something.
I bought the ASUS VG259QM which is the 24.5” version and I absolutely love it!! My games never played so good.
Same here!
Buying It Now! Thanks For Your Unbiased Review. It Was A Battle Between This And The LG Electronics UltraGear 27GN750-B 27 Inch.

Im with acer kg251qf over year , so happy with this budget monitor picture look great for tn panel. Right now for 200 you get ips 144hz
Ahh great review.. Would be SUPER interested in seeing you guys review the Alienware AW2521HF, the 2020 model 25 Inch 240HZ 1080P Fast IPS panel. Just bought one straight from Dell based on what little information I could find online and on KZhead. It's REALLY promising. Would love to see how it stacks up since Alienware is claiming its a "True" 1ms GTG. Wonder how it performs with overdrive and overshoot.
Have y’all seen the secret OD120 option for the smaller VG259QM? Average response time of 2.6ms with the slowest at 3.4ms giving 100% of the transitions inside the overclocked refresh window of 280Hz. I recently applied this setting and it’s insane how fast and clear everything is above 280fps!
Just ordered the smaller version, if possible would you mind linking or telling how to apply the secret OD120 option?

Upgraded to this from benq xl 144hz. Was plesently surprised by the image quality and clarity. I use ELMB in csgo and it does make things more clear. Also the much better contrast was a surprise. to my eyes 27 inch 1080p is fantastic and i can't see individual pixels from 20cm away. with 24 inch i had to put my face right in front of the monitor when playing csgo. Only thing missing is automatic monitor profiles. It would have been nice to have automatic profiles to each game.
im making the same upgrade, did u manage to map your xl2411 monitor settings over to the new monitor or at least make the colors look similar?
Looked everywhere but couldn't find a detailed review. Thanks for reviewing this. I feel like Asus is selling this at a discounted price to not let the viewsonic xg270 and acer nitro xv273x compete. Both of those are Ips panels at 240hz 27 inch but they're definitely not going for 400 dollars. So the extra 40 frames really becomes more of a selling point. That was before i saw the acer nitro xv273x go on for sale for 350 dollars. Now 27 inch, 240hz, 1080p, ips gamig display for 350. What a time to be alive. Just ordered it.
Got mine for 290

I actually see less overshoot (white thing around moving object/enemies) in MSI MAG251RX (240Hz/Faster Mode - 3,1ms response time) than I saw in Asus VG279QM/VG259QM with 240Hz/80OD (3,6~ms response time). I had choosen the MSI over Asus and I love it.
I am choosing between the two can you please list some pros/cons between the two monitors or some other points to help me make my tough decision
@@astroyt7389 msi better Overdrive for even lower fps than 200. You just use faster and forget about everything. Asus has better stand (if that matters to you). Msi has a bit worst shadow boost. I'm excited for the Samsung Odyssey G7 27", it's specs are great but we'll see how it reviews.
When are they coming? 🙂
The main thing that bothers me about the G7 models is the 1000r curve. I can see it working well with the G9 ultrawide, but it just seems excessive for a 16:9 panel, the 32" might be better, but it's just not needed on a 27". I changed from a curved Samsung VA panel to the LG 27gl850 a while ago and I think I prefer the flat panel over the curved Samsung (the panel tech itself is hands down better, the flat vs curved thing is a bit more subjective) I'd be interested to see how it works out though, if it can genuinely compete with top end IPS panels in terms of response times then it could be quite good, my LG doesn't deal with blacks as well as my old VA Samsung did, that's about the only thing I miss.

suprised we have 300hz laptops and now finally 280hz. Any explanation guys?
Laptop displays don't use the same type of connection as an external monitor, ie HDMI, Display port, etc. This is because the laptop graphics card connects directly to the integrated display allowing for higher bandwith and therefore a larger refresh rate.
