Coming from a person that owns a 1440p 27 inch monitor almost 3 years now , (mostly for gaming) , the difference isn't huge but it's definitely noticable . And yes it does make a difference in games . They just appear much sharper and cleaner .
@Filthy Casual yeah the high resolution high frame rate is not that intelligent. My monitor supports up to 165hz 1440p but realistically speaking , what games can run at this frame rate and is my gpu capable of doing it ? Probably not many . Plus , more than 60-90 frames for most games is pointless and you don't see a difference (expect eSports) . The only reason I went with 1440p 165hz is because I wanted to play both eSport tittles at high frames but also get the higher res for triple A tittles and other games. If you want something exclusively for eSports though, then 1080p 240hz is the way to go. And lastly of you are PS5 or Xbox series X user which again is not worth to buy a monitor like this , just buy a 55 inch or bigger tv to fully enjoy your games
Gonna change my 32 inch 1080p TV to a 27 inch 1080p monitor. I had a 24 inch monitor before and damn... Looked pretty cool
@@patriktoth3346 yeah although it's the same resolution , because it is smaller in size the image will actually appear sharper and better . But also keep in mind that the distance between you and the screen also plays a role (the further you are the better the image resolution-wise)

My opinion: 24 inch or less: 1080p more than good enough 27 inch and above: 1440p 4K: won't recommend for gaming, I think higher frame rate is more important
4k is not for now, until gpu's can do 4k 60fps at a decent pricepoint 4k will be only for the few with expensive gpu's
I would agree except for the fact that 4K does have it's place RN: playing casual, easy-to-run games on a 4K TV. For any AAA or competitive games, I totally agree.

1080P feels so blurry to me on a 27-inch.
yep, especially on newer game engines that often rely on TAA, which makes the image very soft in 1080p, and anything except MSAA looks too jagged.
That is actually intriguing... I've got three monitors 27" with 1080p, transfer from 21". I must say I don't see any blurry parts. Maybe that is because I didn't deal with 1440p with that screen size.

@@Unknownthewiu Idk how the 1660 performs but you can always just change the in game resolution to 1080p if it's not playable. But having low fps won't add screen tear, maybe if you're getting under 60 fps then do what I mentioned above
@@aidand907 I am ok with the low fps problem , but I don't want any screen etar as I bought the 27inch 1440p with 144Hz which my 1660 cant run full. So i am worried. So wont have any problem right ? except the low fps
@@Unknownthewiu the 1660 super cannot reach 140fps in 1440p on modern titles. There’s hundreds of titles that came out in the past which it might run well, but any triple A release after 2020 is going to see very poor performance in 1440p on a 1660s. You’ll get the benefits of 144hz outside of gaming though, so that’s up to you. You won’t get screen smearing or tearing if you get a good monitor. Though in this sort of situation if you have the money for a 1440p 144hz then I’d personally spend it more towards a high end 1080p 144hz panel, or even a higher end 1440p 75hz panel.

This is a fantastic review. To the point with no waffle at all. Covers all the bases. Interesting about the 24 inch@1080 too. This is what I have used for a decade (only 60hz though) and always been happy with. However I have had to build a new PC that is med/high end and it could definitely power a bigger higher resolution and frame rate monitor so it is a waste of the PC's capacity to stick with my trusty Dell U2410. It seems that it would indeed be worth splashing out for a 1440 27 inch monitor with higher frame rates.

@@Jupez555 lol what soap 2560x1080 it's not 1440p

@@Ivan-mp2nk no way, stay at 1080p
i use 4k, all in one 27" pc, when i go to use my sons, 27" 1080p monitor, i feel like my eye sight is bad.
Yeah true.. There is huge difference in 4k and 1080p. I don't get it when people say they can't see much difference in 4k &1080p.
@@savoz894 Much bigger difference is 60hz vs 144hz, at least in 24 inch monitors.
@@savoz894 Your eyes will get used to any resolution when i downgraded from from 1080p to 720 i felt it then got used to it But 60hz and 144hz impacts your performance in game
Yeah 1080p looks really strange on 27" looks great at 24" but it's crazy how bad it looks with bigger monitors.
@@savoz894 It is definitely more noticeable in reality than it is in videos though.
I’m actually really glad I watched this. I was about to buy a 1440p IPS LG monitor but now that he mentioned the refresh rate and it’s effects on my GPU I think it’s probably not a good idea. My 1650 super is putting out 120 FPS at 1080 p and I wouldn’t want to sacrifice that for better resolution.
Yeah I got 2 1440 monitors and I want a 1080p monitor so I can get more fps.
@@itznoah231 you can use 640x480 for more fps even mobile have 3k+ resolution
he doesnt mention though u can still run like windows and youtube at 1440p and run games at 1080p
@@woakes6591 so if I had a 1440p monitor, I could basically use 1080p in game settings and there won’t be blur?
@@carsondeisler depends on monitor, my brother has m27q and he plays games at 1080p but watches youtube and stuff at 1440p. he showed me what windows looked like at 1080p that big and it was blurry but the games where not. might vary depending on monitor i plan on getting m27q too tho
Hi, i noticed in other reviews of BENQ ex2780q that it has a bit better and deeper colors than other monitors. But do they look real to you and not too much saturated?
i got dual 32" 1080p monitors cuz they were around $150 each, with 165hz, freesync, 1ms response all that jazz. Bigger than i was initially intending my monitors to be, but i thought the bargain was too good to pass up. Ive never really used higher resolution monitors and the only time i saw any real low res artifacts was when i used nvidea surround to play doom. Other than that it looks fine enough for most games. I do use really strong glasses so maybe thats it, but i still see just fine
Yeah, if you have strong glasses for myopia, it is basically as if you are using 27" 1080p monitors, since your eyeglasses make it smaller. I am in same boat and this is one of the annoyances I have, to get similar results you simply have to get bigger monitors... Well, or do a eye surgery/get contacts.
I've used 1080p at 60 hertz for as long as I can remember. When I picked up a 27 inch LG monitor that can go 75 Hertz it made a huge Improvement on clarity and crispness. Playing PlanetSide 2 on that monitor where you have to micro pixel headshots is not a problem and I have astigmatism. Of course 1440p will be better but even going a higher refresh rate on a 27 inch 1080p you'll see a big Improvement and still stay in budget
If i lower the resolution in the 2k monitor 75hz. Can i eventually get a higher fps at 144hz with just 1080p resolution?
tips if u using 1080p monitor -play with 1440p game resolution setting(depend your GPU) -turn off blur(in game) -turn on dlss and ray-tracing -setting your monitor color, brightness, contrast as good as you think. -dont use useless fiture in your monitor, believe me its not worth.(better user-manual setting) -use freesync/gsync -dont push the limit of your GPU -use a good display port cable(buy it, for better deliver) this tips will make your gaming better. sustain FPS,great pixel density, good quality picture and colours, also didnt make your eyes tired...
@@aqilafzal3091 refresh rate (hz) does NOT affect your resolution. lower your refresh rate will not give you more pixels lol. either your monitor is 1440 or it’s 1080. if you have a 1440P monitor you CAN lower your resolution to 1080 (don’t know why you would though, defeats the whole purpose lol).
@@aqilafzal3091 but yeah essentially if your monitor is capable of handling 144hz then lowering your resolution will increase your frame rate but from the sounds of it, your monitor is rated only at 75hz regardless of what you set your resolution too.
@@MINIWEATMAN112 some monitors can "overclock" to 144hz or 120 hz etc at the cost of resolution.

I'm playing 1080p on a 32inch. Not bad, honestly. Depends on the quality of the panel and tech you get. I got an asus tough and they have some kind of pixel density clarity thing you can mess with. I can't complain, even my friend with his 1440p monitor said it looks good.
Should I buy Asus monitor? 1080p 27 inch and 75hz.i want to connect my PS4 with it , 1080p will be fine on 27 inch?
I've had a 24" 1440p monitor for the last 4 years and it works really well for me, both in terms of productivity and gaming. I'm leaning towards ultrawide now...
what panel? IPS?

I came here to watch, again this topic. Considering getting a 1080p monitor as a secondary monitor and monitor to play some older games which the native resolution of 1080p has better integer scaling than 1440p. Watching wonder if I should get a 24 inch (yes) 1080p or not. Or perhaps a 27..right? How bad could it be, image quality/sharpness compared to 1440p? Then I remembered I actually used for over 3 years a 40 inch 1080p monitor (TV) without any real issues, so obviously a 24 or even a 27 should be fine.
