Notes:
- At 5m35s one graph is sized incorrectly. Don't worry you see the proper results a second later.
- Yes I know a 360Hz monitor has been announced by ASUS at CES. However that will take a while (months) before it'll launch, and since it's ROG that will most likely be considerably more expensive. Innovation obviously won't stop at 280Hz, or 360Hz.
- Many test results don't make it into the video to prevent clutter. If there are any questions, ask!

Is it safe to permanently set it to 280hz?
What are those desk countertop risers in the background?
Is 1080p still a good resolution or go for 1440p
do you prefered 1080p over 1440p
Are they selling off the poor bins from the 360 Hz monitor production?
How have I not come across this channel before? The quality is insane.

Great review on the monitor! Just like to ask if you prefer this over the smaller version VG259QM and also what are the specs of your PC you used this on? Thanks!😃
Great video! I can’t decide which to look at. The beautiful CPU behind your back or the monitor you’re reviewing hahaha. You deserve more subscribers Nada. Greetings from the Philippines !🇵🇭

@@MAGA2024. hey how is this monitor working with ps4?
For someone who's mainly used Dell UltraSharps @~60Hz most of his professional life (and an old KLV series Bravia at home), I imagine this monitor will blow my mind when I see one in person
The better UltraSharp series have fantastic image quality. But as a gamer, 60Hz is pretty crap ;)
Hi I really love your videos and pls upload more :)
This Video helped me so much thank you!!
me encantan tus videos, un video que veo antes de hacer la decisión de mi compra , y termino haciendo la mejor de las compras
A 280hz monitor for $435 euros or $500 dollars? NICE TRY, but the human eye can't even see more than $24 dollars per second.
That's generally true unless the monitor is on a table.
MIne can, but my wallet doesn't
Hahahaha! Truueee!!
I thought the human eye can only see Nada
True unless your monitor is at a 75 degree angle and your hanging upside down
To be honest I love it as there's no RGB so no distractions i can still use my corosair RGB without worrying about compatibility issues as there is none but as long as I can run ultra high FPS with my full size rtx 2080ti and i don't want higher resolution as im after speed and stability not visuals really but its still good and its solid besides if i game and stream there watching from there own screens so its not really a big thing jacksepticeye uses a simple dual 144hz 1080p monitor setup to do what he dose so its alright.
If u can, start including response time test with pursuit camera ufo and input lag tests. Pretty important stuff.
Yes. IPS simply doesn’t go to under 4 ms without extreme overdrive that causes massive negative ghosting; the modes people use will be 4 ms at best. Which is why 240 Hz is the highest that arguably could make sense. 280 is worse, not better.
soylentgreenb do u know if I buy this monitor and set it to 240hz will I be able to make it 1ms???
@@soylentgreenb 1ms (GTG)
@@soylentgreenb this simple isnt true....this is the fastest ips panel according to blur busters...on part with the zowies...you all do realize there are no 1ms monitors that are usable...nor is it needed to keep a 240hz refresh rate which needs to maintain a 4.16ms refresh.
@@TobyBauters its marketing jumbo, you need 4.16 ms to be within the 240hz refresh window 1 ms isnt happening

is there a clear difference between a 144hz TN? i bought a 144hz VA but didnt feel right in fast paced fps games
Great review. All the details in a very pleasant and entertaining package. Thanks.
I’ve had this monitor for like 4 months and had no idea I could over clock to 280hz lmfao I get around 300fps in fortnite so it was a nice little boost for nothing thanks for the vid!
wait no joke ???
Hey, that's great video review. Btw, what's game name played on that monitor? can i knew it?
Horizon Zero Dawn
Asus should pay for this great ad (I don't mean this in a negative way). Great review!
The info in this video bro haha. This is going to my notepad. An upgrade to this monitor would be awesome.
I bought it, great monitor at a very good price. I am very happy with the purchase, that I was at 60Hz before so it is normal that I am thrilled but still a very good monitor. Thanks for the video because I didn't know how to get 280Hz, now I know. Thanks and goodbye

which one did you go for?

Welcome :D
7:33 - 8:10 These are the points only gamers would get. (Subscription EARNED) And they are very important, cause to high overdrive can make the performance look bad.
Can you lend me some of it's frequency ? Struggling with 60Hz lol. 😂😂😅
I dont know if you've fixed it but you need to use a Display Port instead of HDMI.

1:28 exactly spot on. I saw this at my local Microcenter for $399.99 which brought me here.

When's the 360hz gonna come out
They're squeezing dollars from every hertz Next monitor is 281hz for 100 dollars more
@@0s0sXD This is not true!
@@drahk7057 I know I'm kidding..
There is a video in linus tech tip's channel talking about 360 hz monitor and also testing it but it still not released.
1080p at 27" is why its in the TUF lineup. That's a joke. Especially if its gonna be $500
they have a 25" version and it's only 350-379$
some people like me don't want 1440p but still want a decent 27" Paid 300e for it, not bad
This monitor is so good! I got this October for 100 bucks off and it was so worth it
Nice quality 4K-review - my tip would be to not wear the metal breacelets on the arm though as they clink through the whole video - might be my speakers emphasizing on it, but was quite an annoying sound :)
i've said that again. I press insta-like because its so unusual for a nice girl to speak the technical-nerd language. And speak it correctly of course!
Can't see myself buying a 1080p monitor in 2020, no matter what features it has.
Only good competitive games can make full use of a fast 1080p monitor. I notice people who buys 1440p or 4k monitors are casual players who suck in game. Those expert and pros in csgo, overwatch, pubg that really require skills to play, these type of games usually buy 1080p monitors with high refresh rate.. so I guess u are just the noobie casual gamer who goes for high reso but totally no skill. ;)

27 inch and 1080p...... next one :-)
IPS 280 Hertz Gsync that work at the same time with ULMB and basic HDR? find me a 1440P/4K that can do that... Spoiler: You can't.
1080p on a 27" screen? Hard pass!
Same im gona get a 24 inch 240hrtz one

Fullhd + 27 inch: 💩
Not really lol if u care about competitive games its actually the best combo for that
@@r00kiet80 not really, for 27 inches, full hd is actually really blurry. I bought the Alienware 27 inch that is full hd and 240hz. The graphics looked like crap so I returned it the next day.
@@ivyhe7234 1080p is more then enough for competitive gaming theres a reason most pros even play lower resolutions
@@r00kiet80 It is enough, but nowadays with the graphics card as advanced as it is, enough is never enough. People buy 2080ti for a reason, not to have enough graphics, they want to have their eyes burning off because of the pixel density. Gamers who only play competitive games are still the minority, you're always doing something else, maybe some triple-a games, maybe a movie or Netflix once in a while, where 1080p in a 27-inch display just don't cut it. I am just saying, from my experience, watching youtube videos from a 27-inch FHD screen sucks. Plus, real competitive gamers would prefer a 24-inch screen anyway, since they'll need to be close to the screen, and 27 inches is just a little bit too big.
@@ivyhe7234 90% of yt content is 1080p or lower
its 1080p lol, not worth it

Thank you! New videos soon. Just been busy moving 😁
You didn't really go into ELMB-Sync. Has the crosstalk been fixed? Previous ELMB-Sync monitors had double strobing to prevent flickering. But this caused noticeable cross talk across refresh rate range. Was this noticeable? I own a Asus VG27AQ which has this and I'm thinking about returning it if this monitor or the VG259QM fixes the ELMB-Sync. Thanks for the review and can't wait for the xg279q or vg259qm reviews in the near future.
finally can maximize use of my 3080 ti yipee gonna go vertical on my 4k lg monitor and set this up as main gaming display
se me hace una buena opcion de monitor, gracias por el video
Great job!! Maybe the Alienware AW2518H with G-sync (not AW2518Hf) can beat the Zowie XL2546 (they call him the king off fps)? I really can't make up my mind which one to get...i know they are TN panels but I really want the real 1ms response time... keep up the good work.
I haven't had those, sorry.
Correction at 3:37 : Since I have this monitor, for the love of God, DON'T use the embedded speakers. Even for incidental use, they are horrible. Most likely you'll have dedicated audio already, but just letting you know. The audio of your phone will be LOUDER than what you will be able to hear from the monitor. This screen is amazing, but it's clear that to save money, Asus completely dumped the audio quality.

I would like to see USB hub instead of speakers. Have you tried Asus Display Widget with this monitor? I am asking, because I would like to assign different Overdrive/TraceFree levels to different games depeding on expected framerate.

hey. i dunno if you will read this. i just bought the asus vg249qm1a it should be close to the vg259qm. is this true? like the vg259qm is slightly brighter and the 10hz more when oc thats all i can find (and the vg259qm should be the smaller version of the vg279qm). the 1a at the end of the model name should just be the non adjustable stand. like there are close to zero reviews on the vg249qm1a its incredible xD and im confused if i can take the 259qm and 279qm reviews for reference. would be very nice if you can tell me the difference between the vg249qm1a and the vg259qm/vg279qm. ty in advance
