This will be a awesome monitor regardless of its lows. I have the 144hz monitor 27’’ and its a sick panel. Well for what I do with it anyway. Great review as always. Thank you so much for this review. I'm always been a console gamer, but I'm switching to PC gaming now. I just bought my first gaming PC and was looking for a monitor. Thank you again for all the insight.

60 fps doesn't matter, console will set you to 60 hz though
I warched this video and instantly bought this monitor thanks for the review keep up the great work❤️

Can you please review the latest Asus TUF Gaming VG27AQL1A monitor please? :D
Hi Rtings! Love this channel! I agree with speed, please review the vg27aql1a
hey. i dunno if you will read this. i just bought the asus vg249qm1a it should be close to the vg259qm. is this true? like the vg259qm is slightly brighter and the 10hz more when oc thats all i can find (and the vg259qm should be the smaller version of the vg279qm). the 1a at the end of the model name should just be the non adjustable stand. like there are close to zero reviews on the vg249qm1a its incredible xD and im confused if i can take the 259qm and 279qm reviews for reference. would be very nice if you can tell me the difference between the vg249qm1a and the vg259qm/vg279qm. ty in advance
I think there is a misunderstood here. The ASUS specs only show compatibility with Nvidia G-SYNC. Is yours Free-sync information correct?
VG259QM next?
Which Overdrive mode i need to use when i have fps between 100 and 200 ? With GSync on!
So the input lag is bad at 60 Hz and good at 280 Hz but what about in between, let's say around 120 fps with VRR? I feel like that's quite an important information since that's a realistic framerate for more demanding games on mid to high end systems, most triple A PC games run at more than 60 FPS but nowhere near 280... Ofc this monitor is aimed at people who play games like csgo but most of these people will still play other games aswell. So is the change in input lag linear across the frequency range or does it spike when it approaches the minimum?
Should I get the vg27aq for 2k or should I get this one ?????
Amazon search results showing VG279QM is g sync compatible ? And I need 240hz gsync monitor so is it good with nvidia rtx cards ?
missing the qhd resolution
I just bought this monitor and my back light bleed is bad but doesn't effect normal use, 3 corners of the screen are easily bright, hopefully it will self correct over time. Also when I switch input to my Nintendo switch I don't notice ANY input lag for smash bros, so I'm sure specific conditions might have to be met.
How do you pull out the back to mount??
Mines came today and i can’t get a picture only audio 😔

I'm getting this for Christmas 🎄 ☺
I really like this monitor, thanks for the review !. I have one question tho: It will work well with my computer, but as I plan to purchase a Xbox Series X aswell with fps capped at 120fps, would the monitor have a lot of input lag on Xbox ?
For Xbox series X you be better with a 1440p 144hz, 1440p 240hz or 4k 144hz monitor Or new TV that has HDMI 2.1 for 4k 120hz
@@MrSuperman258401 That was my main choice earlier, a 2k 144Hz, but as I'm more a Quake/Diabotical competitive player than a Xbox player, I'll stay on a choice that prioritize PC gameplay. My only wishes is that I don't get 40ms input lag on console. Thanks for the advice anyways
@@orko3661 I don't think there's any reason feeding a lower hz signal would add any processing delay, but I guess that's not the absolute sure answer you're looking for.
@@RobertPetrucha Well @ 60Hz this monitor has around 30ms input lag, vs 1.7ms @ native refresh rate. whereas ASUS TUF VG27AQ (165Hz), he has around 2ms input lag @native Hz, and 4ms @ 60Hz The difference between 165Hz and 60Hz is not that big, but would it be the same with 280Hz to 120Hz ? and even more, some games might not run at 120Hz on the Xbox, but at 60Hz It sucks because I'll have to buy 2 monitors if I don't want to buy a monitor that suits for both
Just dont get a series x? Its not worth it. You really should build a pc and get every frame out of it you can. Mouse and keyboard is so much better than controller. I came from console to pc and ots the best thing ever
1 Question:”When I have enough should I buy it?”
Llevo una semana con el monitor Asus VG279QM y cada 10 minutos cuando estoy jugando me sale un error de Displayport desconectado y se me reinicia el ordenador... el pc es nuevo y están todos los drivers actualizados, no encuentro ninguna solución...
I just bought this monitor off Amazon, it was supposed to be delivered on the 28th. But I never received it (ups) Hope fully by today.. but I cannot wait im moving from a 75Hz im excited😁😁🙌
How is it? Should I buy it.
@@exclusixes4116 My first unit had an issue where after I exited a full screen game the display bugged out. But the second one was 80 bux cheaper after return/exchange, so got kinda lucky. Goes up to 281 hz, not relevant but does work
Where can I buy this?
Lots of reviews I've seen corroborate the high input latency at 60hz. I hope it's something Asus can fix in a firmware update cause it seems incredibly weird. I do play some games locked at 60hz and it would be annoying to have to hope that Low Framerate Compensation solutions would need to work to have a usable input latency. Unless running the game at 60fps while letting VRR do its thing while the montior itself is at 280hz doesn't affect input lag? Is that the case?
Definitely weird!
@@RTINGSdotcom I definitely think something funky is going on though. The latency reviewers are measuring is awfully close to two full frames at 60fps. To run at 60 fps each frame holds for 16.6666... ms. Multiplying by two we get 33.333333... ms for two frames then then if we add the around 1.5 - 2ms ish input lag the monitor normally has at 280hz we end up with around 35ms which is roughly what everyone is measuring (we need to keep in mind there will be some small margins of errors and discrepancies in testing methodologies). I lack the technical knowledge to understand why this would be the case or if it's fixable via firmware.
@@Weaver_Games From what I know there is still no firmware fix for this issue.

I bought this today, I've been a part of the 60hz gang for a decade because I was too lazy to upgrade (disgusting I know ;_;). Looking forward for the huge jump in performance/ experience.
How has it been? I'm not sure if I should get this or a 1440p 165hz.
Lucas Malaquias 1440p if you like 27 all the way
@@LucasMalaquias it's been great so far, I'm almost finished my new pc build so the experience is going to get even bettter
I see a lot of questions about "input lag" at 60Hz and as far as I understand it happens only if you explicitly set the monitor's refresh rate to 60Hz at Nvidia control panel. Why would someone do that? Who are the people that will be affected by this input lag?
I'm not sure. If you are playing with g-sync the refresh rate should be the same as fps, so if fps drops to 60, input lag will probably grow to 35ms.
@@vitali6618 yeah thats what i thought as well...might be unplayable at that point. really bad for modded games like minecraft and skyrim which are hard to keep on high fps.
I can`t wait to compare this one to my 3440x1440p 100hz 4ms ROG Monitor! It`s waaaay cheaper, at not even half the price but also way smaller and faster! Next week I should know more!
Did you get it? How was your experience?

@@MrSocko-bh1jb Good to hear you enjoy it because I just bought the 25" variant of this monitor to pair with my 3440x1440 AW3418DW. I love the ultrawide but I want a higher refresh rate and better response time for shooters. Now I just need to figure out how to fit both of them on my desk!
@@KevBacon6 why did you chose this over the AW2720hf then? Since you have Alienware already
@@lilcholo951I do love my Alienware monitor but there were a few factors that led me to the Asus instead of another Alienware. I was looking for a second monitor specifically for shooters since I have the ultrawide for other games and I prefer the smaller 24" monitors for shooters versus the 27" Alienware you mentioned. There is another Alienware that is 25" and 240Hz that I was looking at but after watching some reviews the Asus seemed to perform better overall and the Asus has an optional overclock to 280Hz vs 240Hz. I also wasn't sure how I would like a 1080p monitor after playing in 1440p for so long and at the time the Asus was around $100 cheaper than both Alienware monitors. I never go for cheaper items in my builds but I wasn't sure if I was even going to keep the monitor depending on if the 1080p bothered me but it hasn't.

I mean the 60 Hz downside of this monitor. Will it affect me or it only affects if the refresh rate is set to 60 Hz?
Same dude so how is it went?
Is this what became of the ROG Swift 360? Or is Asus still launching the 360hz monitor?

Are de perfs the exact same for de 24" version?
Sorry could you clarify what you're question is?
Is this monitor a LCD?
Am I understanding this correctly? For Games like Fall guys (which is locked into 60 fps), will this monitor suffer from severe input lag?
I think no if u stay on 240hz but yes if variable refresh on
Great review! I am more than happy with this monitor. It's a f...ing beast with such low input lag at 280Hz with ELMB.
How does the picture look? Currently have a 1440p, but thinking of this monitor just to get higher fps in certain games
@@xL4ceUp Honestly, I have never played shooters on 1440p. I must say the picture is not super crisp versus 1080p on 24" but for me it is a sweet spot - I don't need to sit that close in a front of the display and IPS colors are a blast compared to TN.
Hey! Which one do you guys think would be a better monitor for csgo gaming when looking to get the most responsive feel and lowest possible lag? Would it be ASUS VG279QM or Samsung Odyssey G7 C27G7 27"? I'm interested to get a monitor that would be suitable for competitive play. Most likely going to run it at 240hz.
Both should get the job done, but if we had to suggest one, it would likely be the Samsung because it has a higher resolution and the input lag is more consistent across its refresh rate range.
@@RTINGSdotcom Okay. Well I just want to make sure I make the correct decision. Let's say I'm not going to use neither of them at any other refresh rate then 240 and the quality of image is not top priority but only the fastest response and minimum lag to gain maximum speed and advantage do you still recommend Samsung? I also checked on your site the review of samsung g7 and the part "Response Time @ Max Refresh Rate" there is way more overshoot at 27.6% worst 3 compared to asus with 9% on the same score. I'm not that educated on this matter so I appreciate your help a lot! Thank you for your reply.
I have this monitor I want to play 280hz will the littlest possible delay what would be the best overdrive setting
Highest overdrive always has the least delay, but more ghosting and inverse ghosting. So put it as high as you can without seeing ghosting or inverse ghosting on the screen.
Great review! So what asus 2k monitor has the closest features to this one?
Probably the asus rog swift pg279q. I could be wrong tho, but we aren’t that even close to 240hz on a 2k ips panel. On the Asus side at least.
@@TOKYOminttt I've had mine for 2 years now. I've been pretty unhappy with it in regards to being mainly a multiplayer gamer. My conclusion was that I don't care about having 1440p resolution at the cost of more fps and crispness, but hopefully I don't eat my words and regret sidegrading to either the reviewed monitor or another 1080p 240hz. Games like OW whether on low or high settings remain blurry and never crisp (I'm not bad at fps, I happily excel in other more challenging games like Battlefield where I can get multi kills at longer distances with projectile physic weapons (or getting consistent rocket and tank shell snipes within 1000s of metres on Planetside 2), but in all these two years I NEVER felt confident on popping heads in OW with Mcree or Widow etc. It's always jenky blurry and never smooth feeling trying to hold over the pixel I want. I'm always left angry when red Mcree magically perfectly tracks me, meanwhile I can't even consistently track him [maybe its just OWs shitty design and less the monitor IDK why others don't have as much trouble with me on dps]), the 27" size is also massively offensive, I hoped that I'd adjust to it, but I never did, it's just so much real estate and my twitch aiming and tracking has never been as consistent as when I peaked with an older 24" 60hz monitor. I otherwise don't know why my gaming performance has sucked so much while using the pg279q, I thought higher resolution would give me an advantage but it almost feels like as if I was playing with less fov, which is probably the feeling of not being able to track everything going on across the full 27 inches easily (constantly scanning around, trying to find distant targets, only to get surprised easily by someone at an off angle), I hope that explains why I'm hoping to go back down to a 24.5 incher. For single player games focus I guess I'd recommend it as ok, but if you focus on online gaming, prioritize more fps for sure. Wait for higher hz 2k with better panel quality and the hardware to support it maybe. Problem is even for newer single player oriented games like Borderlands 3, I struggle on my 1080ti with low settings and frame cap at a gross 60-70fps, as if often dips below this in many areas and during lots of action. So even then I hope downgrading to 1080p will net more frames for me in future single player titles.
Little Teapot oh man that’s sad to hear because this is the monitor I got. I haven’t used it yet because I don’t have my gpu (waiting on next gen). I got this as a happy medium for content creation and gaming. I might get this 280hz 1080p or wait for a 1440p 240hz (but I don’t see that happening any time soon) Btw do you play at 165hz or at 144hz with gsync and ulmb mode on? Imo I wouldn’t play at 165hz.
So if you get 280fps can you set the max frame rate and max response time or should it still be on 80 instead of 100???
80. 100 makes motion awful on this monitor.
no sharpness in osd ??
Can anybody share best setting for CSGO? My PC can keep 400+ fps. 1) 280hz or 240hz. Because I read that artifacts (lines) may appear on screen 2) Overdrive yes/no if yes how many 80/100? 3) G-Sync/Freesync on/off? 4) ELMB on/off? 5) Adaptive sync on/off?
For me, whenever i click the settings in the back, it just opens the "game visual" slot, which basically is just brightness. How do i access all of the other settings? I have it into my display port so i should be able to get these settings. Is it because my GPU is an rtx 2060 and thats not good enough?

Weaver Games pointless to ask them man.. they dont NEED that much hz.. but they WANT it.. 120hz is perfectly fine.. they want 1440p res. as a default with 120hz+ .. ok fine.. but give it steady 120+ fps..
Ive got 27' asus with 1080p 120hz.. its perfectly fine..
Its more better and lower input lag than benq xl2546?
no
Why make a video when we have to go to the website to see the things we came here for 😂
1080p at 27'' looks horrible. It would be nice if you guys reviewed just 24'' versions of 1080p monitors, and leave 27'' for 1440p.
If you haven't experienced 1440p, 1080p 27" will look just fine. But yeah, going back to 1080p from 1440p is tough.
Tango Sucka! No. Even if you haven’t my cousin even says it looks like shit and he dosent even play games. Walmart 27 inch predator btw
i just got this monitor this other day and it has mad IPS GLOW. It's terrible, returning it.
I hope someone/somebody will reply... Can rtx2060 msi gaming Z run this 380hz monitor? Thnks in advnce👐
What? Of course.
380hz??? This monitor is 280hz. I guess your from the future.
Yo does anyone know when this releases?
It's already out
Rtings.com that’s what I thought too but when I checked on B and H it said coming out soon?
B&H can sometimes be a bit slower to get new monitors. We bought ours from Newegg.
End up getting one? If so, how is it for R6?
will this work with a gtx 1080? will the 1080 handle it?
I mean for competitive games like overwatch, CSGO, RS6, rocket league it’ll be perfect for you. If you hardly play those games and like to play more demanding single player titles like RDR2 or CP77 then you’d be more suited towards a 1080p 120hz or 144hz monitor
@@daleithgribbleshire2092 This monitor manages up to 280hz genius.
@@Bibbi-ey8jh yeah, no shit. I own one. I was telling him if he doesn’t play competitive games to get a 120/144hz monitor as it would be better suited for a gtx 1080. Genius.
if total response time is 5.7..thats not fast enough for 280hz.. need 3.57 ms or lower
Total response time is from 0% to 100% of the transition. Most reviewers and companies use 10% - 90% when talking about response time. Rtings calls this measurement the rise/fall time.
I need a 240hz 1440p IPS panel already =(.
Eve spectrum is set to come out at the end of the 2020 or beginning of 2021
Acer XB273U GX Acer XV272U X Gigabyte Aorus FI27Q-X Already 3 models on the road, just need to wait for a while.
why not 4k 240hz?
In demanding games no chance you’ll get 240 FPS at 1440p. Modern warfare won’t come close with my 2080ti.
@@mehanna-2363 for me its the same scenario bro. I have the 5 year old ASUS ROG PG279Q 144HZ IPS Panel and 1 MS refresh time. Now im gonna buy this new asus for 300 euro with a black friday deal. awesome value and for my fps games like csgo (where i play even lower than 1080p lol) it will be amazing. both these monitors on a monitor arm will look amazing together, bezels are nice and thin :D
TY
whats the refresh rate without oc
its a 240hz panel oc from factory.
@@Szostek. thanks
Ryzen 7 3700x and rtx 2070 super Can it run this monitor at 240hz?
Depends on the game. CSGO and Valarant absolutely. But you don't have too, running it at 280 and getting 200 fps is still better than getting 200 fps on 144 hz where you may as well have gone with a cheaper GPU since you're getting nada out of it.
Where is the dirvers for windows 11 from this monitor?
