Have fished that pier for decades, never had a ranger complain. He ain't from around here obviously. Bless his heart!!
Nothing to apologize for at all. This was a pretty darn good day's fishing save the rogue wave, loss of recorder and a c/s ranger harassing you. Thanks for your good work producing this outing....
I once thought about wade fishing, catching and reeling fish toward me and the distinct possibility of attracting sharks to me. And then I woke up in a cold sweat.
Great video, Brant. The audio was fine. Sorry about the equipment loss though. No worries about the cooking!
Actually, Brant... that was one of my favorite videos, BECAUSE of the "unpolished" look, even after the edit. I found the audio just as good as a mic and recorder, mainly because there wasn't as much wind noise. I know... I've complained about that before, but it IS nice NOT hearing the wind as much, or at a different freq. level. Filming from the GoPro only in POV, almost gave more of a sense of actually BEING there, compared to always seeing tri-poded views. I have ZERO complaints about that video. I know "wade fishing" is a pain to you fishing creators, but it's good medicine for not-so-good days. Thanks! Peace.
Good thing the Ranger came along when he did. You were obviously presenting a clear and present danger to not only yourself and others. But the entire ecosystem as well. You could have easily misjudged a cast and splashed water onto the decking of that abandoned pier. That could take 2-3 minutes to dry! Think of all the damage your were doing!
Park rangers at ft pickens should pick up all the trash make themselves useful.
They should have a MINIMUM of one ranger driving one of those garbage collecting rigs over those asphalt fields. After 24-years...the white sand in those areas is gray...I kid you not! The more that asphalt breaks up, the more it discolors the sand.
Pier probably cost US taxpayers $2 Mil.
Try camping in there ! They are very strict, don’t hv ya tire off the asphalt
Maybe they should, but people themselves the problem
Trash people for a trash area 😆 🤣 😂
Always great to watch your efforts!😊
Video was great, don’t worry about the audio
You were too close to the Rangers favorite spot which probably has a lot of good fish so he had to shoo you away from there!!! 🤭🤭🤭🤭🤭
We all know that you produce quality video. Occasionally, things go wrong and things don't work the way you want. You are excellent at adapting and doing your very best when things go wrong. Personally, I appreciate that quality in an individual. I enjoyed the fishing and the catching. THAT looked like a lot of fun. Especially since I knew exactly where you were and I live in Arkansas!!!! Thanks for a great video..
Great video and I love the fact that you let the big fish go it was a lovely looking fish
I'd give anything for those issues if I was fishing in FL! These are only problems to be dealt with. No apology needed! Just keep sharing FL fishing! Thanks!
This looks like fun fishing. I have used a lightweight conventional outfit (7' Fenwick rod and Shimano reel with 10# test line) for live baiting anchovies on the West coast. And I went up to a bit heavier (8' rod, Shimano reel and 15 or 20# line) tackle for live baiting anchovies when fishing for larger fish like school tuna up to around 20#.
Got stang by cat fish on a thumb once, finger went blue and ballooned instantly, hopefully I was able to push that poison through the same puncture. One of the most painful experiences you could have, no joke.
Don't worry about not doing the catch an cook. We enjoyed the video just the same. 👍👍👍✌🏻✌🏻
Catfish trick Brant. Take a screwdriver and slide it down the catfish's throat. Hold the line tight against the screwdriver and twirl the catfish around the screwdriver. The catfish will spin and the hook will come out This works even if the hook is swallowed. Worse case is the line may break. But it does not require you to touch the catfish at all.
He is fishing in the bay. Were you watching a different video?
Not sure if your question was for me. If so Brant caught a catfish at the 12 minute mark. I was commenting on that. @@hterrebrood
Nice video. What kind of hook do you use for live bait?
Great video. Love yours and Brads passion for fishing
Yeah that looks just like the pier at Boca Grande pass where I used to go fish that was freaking awesome
I fish around that same pier all the time and never had that happen. They get all excited about stuff like that but can’t keep bathrooms open at Opal beach or install new grills. For what they charge tourists you think they could provide greater access to the beach. Fortunately I have a senior lifetime pass
The amenities look good on paper. The money goes to pensions.
You caught some nice studs. I went over to Panama City beach all last week and fished the jetties at St Andrews state park and did well. Not had a chance to get out since we got back. Anxious to get out and get in on the whiting action. What size circle hook you using? I use a similar rig only shorter rods like Fishgum I use egg weights and either a size 4 or 6 circle hook
Going there in June of this year on a family vacation, would love to get some good tips on public access to wade fish
I've been stuck 1 time by a hard head. Never again. I use tools also. Got stuck by a stingray in the foot Labor day week at Fort Morgan this year. That hurt bad, but the catfish hurt worse.
Constitution says you can fish on any federal dock ,peer, property without a license. 1:53
How many fish got citations for swimming?
Used to go fishing in the Port Charlotte
Close to Seagrove Beach where I had the best times of my life. ❤
Miss that so much those fish are delicious that mangrove snapper he would have been a good one good eater too
I like to hook greenbacks up top just ahead of the dorsal fin. They struggle to swim upright, attracting targets better, is my thinking. Especially for Tarpon 😊👍 NICE red btw Rangers want the pier for themselves 😂😂
Haven’t been wade fishing in years, looked fun!
Definately liked this video👍👍 I appreciate you showing that fish can be caught almost anywhere by anyone whos willing to try. I think I looked at at one of the places you recently fished when I was on vacation a few years ago. Being new to saltwater fishing it didnt look very appealing to me so i didnt fish. Little did i know how wrong i was.
Give the Feds some payback for harassing you over a nothing burger, Brant! Make a video of those asphalt fields on THEIR beach. Publicly humiliate them.
Great video Brant everything you had to fight through is what I would call it getting as real as it gets Great job making it work although I would have cooked the Red 👍
For unhooking those hard heads, you have to grab them from the underside like a baseball with your 2 fingers on the fins. You'll have full control
This was a great video. Sorry about your equipment getting ruined but sound was good for me. Great to see you fishing like the rest of us. Nice hat! I’ve got a gray one I don’t fish without it❤
Always a carry a couple cans of cat food… you could have chummed the bait into beyond that fence, you’re welcome 😉
Used to go down there and Snook fish
Were you using peanut bunker for bait?
Yes the inaccessible zone by the guard shack on the sound side drives me crazy because there's bait and schools of fish there almost every time I drive by 🤙
Love your catfish catch, I don't touch them either!!
Cool, cool, cool. From back up North again. B-)
i just submit my application form Brant! looking forward to hearing from yall! Tight Lines!
I've got a boat in the marina, l pay for it, people fishing nearby creates the risk of shaft bearing issues and my wife getting a hook stuck in her foot or hand. Areas like this do require 24hr access and its easier to just say stay out. It's not about excluding fishermen, l fish all the time too. Maybe just fly a drone in and drop your bait next time.?
I like watching fishing videos but I wish they would explain what type of equipment they are using size of line, hook, etc. I live in the pcola area and all the help I can get I will take it
YT will flag him if he hooks the bait on camera for bl00D n the such. Even why I use 0 and not o as not to flag the bots
From the video, I’d say the hooks are 2/0 or 3/0 circle hooks. His main line looks like braid around 30#. No guess on the leader, sorry.
Still a great video. Like to see you wading out there and catching good fish. And yeah us fisherman have trouble not getting kicked out. Most of us fish mostly for sport and clean up to. But I guess the rest just don't.
One of the guys I used to fish with had a three-wheel bicycle loaded up like your car there he used it for a car works great
Hey Brant love the vids as per usual, lately for maybe the past 3 vids there seems to be an audio issue where you can only hear on one side like in this vid at 14:11
Do we need to start a “ GoFundMe”, Brant? 😂 And I think those guy’s have a tracker on you ❤ Sorry about your equipment!
When are we getting your long-distance combo back I tried to get it and it was out just as I was getting
Remind me of Boca Grande
Is the pen conflict good with saltwater? I have a clash just been scared to get it wet from wading
@@ClickOnProfile621 and what is it
Conflict by Penn ,is no longer made , great reel if u can find one, ur next best bet is series 7( VII )spinfisher by Penn
I don't like wade fishing in salt water. To many things out there SHARKS, String RAYS and things Lion fish. I'am even scared to surf any more, for all the sharks. out there any more
When will you ever have a bad day at fishing😂
Mangrove snapper are tough, those 2 fang teeth grab the bait and run, if you set the hook to early hook comes out their mouth easily. Awesome fish but hard to catch
Dang bro, you need a head mount for your Gopro.
Nice fish🎉🎉😢😢😢😢
Dude I'm sure it's painful to have technical issues, but I just want to see FL fishing. All the BEST
Awesome content thanks for keeping it real… ❤
There's a reason off limit fishing spots are teeming with fish....You figure it out 🧐🤔🙃
A friend was in a boat with no power and was denied the use of that dock in order to be rescued.
Fish on every time
My son and I were fishing there back in June and caught some nice reds right against the pier at the end. Ranger pulls up on a boat and caught my son on the pier by the gate and got a little butt hurt but did not care we were fishing next to the pier.
Yeah and Ponce de Leon Park I called a Jack to Rally about 12 lbs to me about 30 minutes to really mean
I dont grab a catfish either..F that one slip on an already slippery fish is all takes
Wish I was back east
Any issues with sharks wade fishing?
I hade an encounter with shark on sea island i dont wade very deep any more shuffle feet to scare stingrays
Oh i hate it when they come off before you see them At least you know what was tearing your line out
Things ya like to do they won't to make sure you don't . But there's sharks 🦈
never used a circule hook in fact I remember when i was fishing as a little kid with a 29-cent metal round pack of hooks and straightened out one on a 4 lb bass threw them in the creek walked home mowed someone else's yard went to western auto got eagle claws twisted shank bait holders and never looked back Iset the hook to the bone!!!!
I enjoyed the video! Maybe try one of those hat/camera/mic rigs like Matt uses for those wading videos.
Good way to feed sharks.
Well the fishing is good because its off limits. Not the other way around.
Keep your rod tip up
Love your videos but maybe the audio recorder isn't worth it because I didn't notice a difference the whole video. I know you mentioned it in the video but never crossed my mind until you mentioned it at the end.
Equipment can be a lot to deal with, but it is a fishing video after all. I learned something about Ft. Pickens from it. I'll stay away from their precious pier.
Should get a head/hat mount for that type of fishing. Great video though!
dude i dont let those slimy catfish even touch my boat. that hook remover works wonders
As usual "light tackle" equals what? I love spin rods like 8 lb test fishing for salmon/stripers here in the SF bay area. My old Mitchell 300 spin reel and 7 ft med action pole. Spinners (salmon) and broken back Rapala`s due the trick. Have to be good with the drag or hooks get straightened!!!
Yeah we used to catch stingrays accidentally hey we just killed the line
I was going to watch this but then something CRAZY happened! Stay tuned for my next comment to find out what!
No Brant being stuck by a catfish is ugly freshwater or salt. 😢
Great video Brant! Some really nice catching in this one. Love the CCC, but understand the importance of personal space. Thanks for sharing!!!
Dude was giving the pier plenty of space to ? Rot or plenty of fish for the CCC. To CCC I guess . I guess they use it for the DC elites to pose on . Jo could do a Climate / Whiteman bad speech on it I guess.
I got finned in July by a catfish and still have a bump and some tendon pain. What did I do? Tried to pick up by it’s tail and throw it back. Learned my lesson…
How much has fishing in Pensacola changed in my lifetime? When I was 12-years old, I lived in Warrington and had a little boat that I would take out into Bayou Grande. The boat had no registration. I would fish alone with no license, no limit on my catch, and no life jacket. There were many times that the Florida Marine Patrol would approach me with engine off and ask me how the fish were biting. They didn't harass me because I did not have a life jacket. They had common sense and could see that I could easily swim to shore if the boat sank. The FMP were always cordial and never once yelled at me. What has changed in just my lifetime? You know the answer to that and none of it is good. Those experiences helped shape me to be independent and hard working. What is society like today? Dependent and lazy. If I had a mic, I'd drop it.
We all did the same thing back then but now with 21 million people in this state and developers ruining it all and new residents complaining about things are to crowded and not the same. who 's at fault ?
Can you use the same method hooking on the belly on fresh water?
There is a lot of California and Florida a lot of laws
You’re nicer to them catfish than we are here in gulf coast Texas; we usually just use a rock 😅
LOL... we used to just swing them with the rod and let them smack the ground until dead, then we'd use them for bait. Or we'd just cast them out like we were going to use them as live bait, but never open the bail. BYE hard head!
If you want Florida residents to fish the pompano in Whiting tournament your going to need a place in Pensacola to weigh in . Nobody gonna drive to gulf Shores. to weigh in.
Yeah that 30 miles is definitely not worth driving to win thousands of dollars. I know every fishing tournament l ever won, l never even left my couch. Idiot....
I guarantee that ranger is one of those ones who take themselves way too seriously, and you're fine to fish there. In fact, I can bet you most rangers will tell you the same and have no problem at all.
Sorry about your equipment loss, but I enjoyed the video. Thanks for posting
Oh yeah , I’ve been nailed by a cat , it’s been years , dad taught us early how to pick em up , I reckon it been 60 years since the last time…
Oh yeah! I’ve been barbed between 2 fingers and the barb broke off - it was a horrid experience!!!!! Never again without tools! Dislike catfish! Haha don’t blame ya!
Here's something that nobody thinks of You can ask the govt to explain the rain they made the area off limits. Many times they aren't using the area anymore and you can legally challenge them to lift the off limits
That's why they're decent places to fish in Florida because there's all the rules and regulations
We messed up on? You messed up.
That was a jack
Do saltwater catfish not taste good like freshwater catfish do?
Tough day but great fishing
Benchmark Single Barrel, get some
