    • That's what I would have expected for such a big tree. It seems to be dry right through the middle, which has take a very long time. I operate a small sawmill and the recommended air dry time is 1 year for every inch of thickness. What kind of tree is it?

    • Red wormwood or latex wormwood, sand wormwood, and red wormwood, with the two-part nomenclature of Shorea roxburghii C. Don (other names S. harmandii Pierre, S. cochinchinensis Pierre), is a species of tree belonging to the Dipterocarpus family (or Starfish family, Dipterocarpaceae). Distribution The red galangal tree is distributed in Cambodia, India, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Thailand and Vietnam. In Vietnam, the tree grows in closed evergreen tropical humid forests, semi-deciduous forests at altitudes below 1300m, from Thua Thien Hue to Kien Giang. Describe Large tree, up to 30m high. Leaves are oval or oblong, 8-15 cm long, 4-6 cm wide, purple. Flowers in clusters or panicles, 7-8 cm long, in the axils of fallen leaves; yellow petals. The fruit is oblong, odorous, 2 cm long[1]. The red galangal tree flowers in January-February; Fruiting occurs in March-May[1].
