Old Rusty Butcher's Cleaver Restoration

Hello! Today I want to show you new restoration video! Very interesting and rare butcher's cleaver I found at flea market. Price was USD $1. The butcher cleaver has nice weight in hand. Well, I use an electrolysis and then left it. Due to I like that dark color and it very suitable to that meat axe.
On the cleaver handle I made zigzag lines to hide some dent from hits. I made decision don't use angle grinder to remover it, in that case I would have damaged a geometry of axe handle. After I left it in iron chloride at washing. The cleaver handle I made from phenolic material and used brass rivets for it. Finally, I used sandpapers and files to made nice shape for handle.
I hope you enjoy this restoration project. As usual I prepare for you for my new butcher cleaver. Thank you for attention!
Sincerely, Alex. Thanks for attention!
Good luck and health to everyone! With best wishes, Alex!

  • Very nice! What is the material called that you used for the handle? How do you decide which handles you make out of wood and which ones you don’t?

    @katiebellmichelle@katiebellmichelle4 жыл бұрын
    • Hello Katie! Thank you for attention. ! This material is called phenolic, it is a hard plastic. That is, I make the decision as follows: If this is a knife, then most often in this case I make a wooden handle. If such an axe as this is plastic because it will often get wet, I will wash it more often.
