  • What gave Tom the idea for this song was he recently quit smoking cigarettes and it reminded him of all of the withdrawal symptoms he went through from alcohol and anxiety meds several years ago. He’s not going through it now

    • So happy that your son made it. He's stronger than he thinks. My brother ended up in prison at 19. Alcohol, meth, cocaine was his thing. While in prison he caught a case for Capital murder. He now will never come. He didn't kill anyone but he knew it was gonna happen and said nothing to stop it. So he got the same sentence as the two guy's who did it. We are now on our 27th year and it never gets easier. We don't have the money to get a lawyer to help him. Unfortunately under the Texas law of parties, he's guilty. Even though video shows everything. All this mess because of alcohol and drugs. Unfortunately there are a lot of drugs in prison also. Sometimes he slips up it's hard for him to know he still has till 2048 before parole.

  • Yeah, this song Hit me hard too. I lost my mother to cigarettes. She started smoking open up until she passed away at the age of 56. She said she tried to quit but just couldn't. I know there's one room in the house where she would always hang out. Hewitt there, watch TV, and sleep there too. And when she passed away, my brother and I cleaned up the house and what we noticed is that the room she loved to stay in while the walls were pretty much taped up in tar. All those years smoking in that room on that tar just built up on the wall. Yeah so we just use dishwater and scouring pad to remove all that stuff. We also have old wallpapers. Still stuck on the wall, so that part was easy to take care of. I really don't know how many packs of cigarettes she would smoke but I know she always bought her cigarettes by the carton. Yeah she would have made a ton of money into prisons. But not only my mom but my late wife passed away a couple of years ago due to her taking drugs. And she didn't overdose on any drugs. With her she would take antibiotics to take care of just about any pain she had or whatever. So overtime, whatever she was trying to get rid of, became resistant to antibiotics. It got to the point where nothing was working. So she had a lung infection and eventually whatever this thing was bacteria, virus, I don't know but it's slowly choked her to death. She was a nurse so she probably thought she knew what she needed to do in order to take these antibiotics. I don't think she ever was under the care or direction from a doctor. Oh by the way, with my mom, she didn't die from lung cancer, she died from emphysema. One thing if you're a smoker it causes emphysema. That's why your blood vessels become constricted or much narrower. So in return, her heart didn't receive the didn't receive enough oxygen so it died out so basically she had a heart attack

  • Tom has chronic depression and anxiety like me. We self-medicate to cope. It numbs the pain. When you are able to quit, you not only go thu withdraws (which can kill you unsupervised), you fall back into heavy depression and self doubt. It's the hardest thing I've ever done. When I heard Tom quit smoking, I was so impressed because I still am trying to quit and it's very hard. Tom shows us this side of him so maybe he can help someone and he has. We love Tom. #hangovergang

    • Damn. I tried to quit smoking for years and couldnt do it. I finally found God and prayed for him to take it away. After a while, a long while, I woke up one morning and everything was real bright and crisp. Kinda like when I used to do acid. It even felt like it. I noticed I didnt pick up a smoke that morning. When I decided to light one up, I couldnt stand the smell. It literally made me sick and I didnt even have the desire to smoke. It was kinda out of habit. Its been about three years now and I still cant stand them. God rocks.

  • OMG If you only knew. I so relate 2 Tom in this song. It is like everyday the sun is black. And I am little over 4 yrs sober off pain pills. And I quit cold turkey and am totally disabled. I had complete elbow and shoulder replacement and handling the pain with over the counter meds. Tom hit home and freakin hard with this song.
