  • This had me in tears… November 2 is 3 years clean from shooting heroine and meth… i started from prescription pain killers for the second and third degree burns on my lower legs….I did that for almost 10 years and this was exactly how it was…. Withdrawals gave me seizures and almost killed me… this is beautiful… and is spot on what I went through as well…. This is yet another reason why he is my hero…

  • You cannot have a testimony without the test. Tom is clearly giving his testimony. I'm an addict, 4 years clean. We will always be addicts, always in recovery and fighting every single day. Some days are super hard. The mental instability that comes with recovery is no joke. You have to actually feel everything and it can be so heavy some days. Tom puts everything out there about his mental health and addiction. I can relate so much to his battles. #hangovergang

  • Watched his video a few hundred times alredy. I cry each time because I been there. I am 60 yrs old, had different addictions over the years. In the 80's it was acid, cocaine, and meth--at times. I was the acid queen of my town...bragging----no, just facts. In the 90's it was cocaine a grand a day p my nose--again wasn't paying for it, just profits. Also drank a fifth of mescal and half a case of beer a day during the 90's. I quit cold turkey--everything, except beer. Been sober since 1995 I still fight with it because the root cause of my addiction set of the PTSD. Recently, addicted to oxys and ativan after cancer surgery--that was just NASTY. Now, I have liver disease and with recent issues have been eyeing up the bottle again. Tom is amazing--he is so true in what he says. FACT. Tom is my fav ARTIST and that's saying a lot since I have been around since Led Zeppelin, Jimmy Hendrix, etc. were rocking it.

    • I am 46 years old and have struggled with depression anxiety and suicide for most of it. I have been on lots of the medication and what I have found that works best for me grows out of the ground and isn't legal everywhere but that's me. Tom has a song on his "First" album Deathreats called Side-effects that there isn't a video for that is one of my favorites. In my 46 years I have learned that life is precious and that the most important thing is to be happy as often as possible. Your Happiness > Money Your Happiness > other people's opinions It is your life to live your way. Don't allow others to speak for you. Be yourself. Enjoy it. To get out of a depression I have found that a routine, exercise diet, and sleep are essential.

    • There are natural solutions for that as well, I understand the idea of not wanting to use drugs that can be addictive, but also look into some remedies. She's too young for me to try to play doctor and want to say it, but there are medical cannabis options for that type of thing. Addiction is no joke, trust me I know. But mental health is also absolutely no joke, if someone has something that their brain can't deal with it can be bad. I'll pray for your daughter.

  • For those of you who've never dealt with detoxing or withdrawls, Sobriety isnt a joke.. Your body adapts to needing the alcohol or drugs. It warps your brain chemistry and habits turn into dependency. You'd think the worst of it is over when you get clean, but its not even close. Sobriety almost always leads to thoughts of suicide and nihilism (everything is pointless). The first year of being sober is the hardest by a fucking mile. The depression is insane. It does get easier with time, but not nearly fast enough. The battle with addiction is a life-long one, and I thank Tom for being vulnerable enough to release a song like this. -Former nurse of 10years and 12 year sober pain-pill addict.

    • My daughter is 21 months sober off a 2 yr meth addiction. She was snorting pills 1st at 16... then went to heroin (snorting) DAILY. I sent her to rehab and she spent her 17th birthday and Mothers day in rehab. Said she would never go to a needle.. and she didn't. But 4 years later, in and out of my house, losing jobs.. OD'd. Went to jail for 3 months over personal caught with less than a gram. Came out clean and sober. Got 2 jobs and was going to meetings. Both jobs was killing her and she was exhausted and one night at the bar she waitressed at a guy gave her a line to "help keep her awake and give her energy." It was METH. As much as I thought heroin was gonna kill her and the devil... oh no.. meth was WORSE. In only ONE year she went from snorting to shooting it. Was down to 85lbs..was arrested 3 times and in and out of jail (30 days 2 times) and the last time.. she had an ounce she was selling and got busted for "Trafficking". $250,000 bond. Got her out and on an ankle monitor for a year. She hasn't been to court yet due to Covid. That was her wake up call.. facing 3-7 years now and a felony charge. Lawyer cost $10,000 to take her case. She is 21 months sober, in college and works full time. Back to 135lbs and is in a great relationship with a man who met her when she was strung out and rock bottom but wouldn't date her till she got clean. Well I have my daughter back now and her monitor is off and she's doing so good! I pray the court sees how far she's come since her arrest 2 years ago and the complete change she's made and that they just give her probation. She's worked so hard. 🙏🙏🙏

    • @@angelicajoy1 Wow . That is amazing.. Im so glad to hear she is clean and out of it. I used some amfetamin back in the day but wasn't really my thing. Was basically just taking it to not get sick cause i couldn't get heroine or pills. But a couple of times i got methamphetamine instead of just amfetamin and that shit was crazy. I really didn't like it. Didn't give me anything except a whole lot of scratches on my body and my whole face. it ws so itchy. It was so bad i was bleeding. And i got nothing but bad memories from that thankfully. Its a hell of a drug and im glad to hear this story that she got out. And i can see she got good people around her and thats really good. It looks like she has gone through the worst of it. The first year is always hard. But it never really completely stops cause addiction never stops. Its always on your mind. I been clean for years and still think about it. But im never going back. And it seems like she been through some stuff that make her not wanna go back too. And with a new boyfriend, job and new surroundings it looks like she is on the right track. And im really glad to hear that.. I'll be 🤞🏻 and 🙏🏻 for her and im sure that the judges are gonna see thst she is doing well now and just give her probation...

    • @@angelicajoy1 every single day you wake up might be the day you relapse. Has hard as it is to keep that in the back of your mind you have to do it. Every day you stay clean it becomes a lil easier to see drugs for what they are A VERY BAD IDEA. Everyday sober t becomes a lil easier to rationally asses the pros and cons of doing drugs again. And of course when viewed logically drugs are suck a stupid idea, so, dangerous, so coastally, so deadly, it becomes easier and easier to stay clean. I really hope she and I and everyone struggling can remain sober.

  • It's a little late but, my dad (who I saw as a Superman) told me when he saw me crying and I apologized said, "What are you apologizing for? You've seen me cry, am I not a man?" I assured him he's a real man and he responded, "Real men cry. Don't let anyone tell you any different." That was solid advice. I didn't even feel bad for crying when he eventually died. I carry it with me to this day.

  • I have mad respect for you. I didn't battle drug addiction, but I battled alcohol. I grew up with a horrible childhood myself. I joined the Army, and my alcohol addiction took off from there. It got worse in my early adulthood, and my life spiraled out of control, when I went to Iraq in 2003. I did, however, got kicked out for pot and alcohol, but I was able to rejoin the Army, four and a half years later. That wouldn't have happened, until my wife told me she was pregnant with my first child. I quit cold turkey. Now, I'm law enforcement, rejoined the Army, graduated from college (twice), and ready to retire from the military. I feel the pain.

  • I KNOW THIS COMMENT IS LONG BUT PLEASE READ IT Asia & BJ!!! I hope yall see this comment. I am the guy who commented on your live feed a while back and said thank you for making such cool content because I live in chronic pain and your channel helps distract me from it. I had to comment because of something Asia said about drs giving out meds. That is a huge misconception. When it comes to Opiates, Pain meds, doctors don't just give them out anymore. It is extremely hard to actually get those meds now. Patients have to jump through dozens of hoops to get help. Things like seeing a psychiatrist, do physicaltherapy, be randomly drug tested, do acupuncture and other things. The DEA has been going after pain management drs and finding any reason to strip their medical license so drs don't give them out anymore. Even to people like me who have diagnosed conditions. See I have a condition that goes by Severe endstage lateral bilateral degenerative arthrophy and severe endsatage aseptic necrosis with Femoral head collapse. This mean my femoral heads, hip bones, are dead and have been crushed. I walk around on broken hips. Ive had 6 drs ask me how I am even able to walk but I dont know how. My point is I have real medical conditions that are extremely painful and even I can't get meds and I have no history of drug abuse. On the news I saw a report of how opiate overdoses have gone up 30% in the last year. The question is why. See when people like me go to their dr and can't get the meds they need we have no choice but to turn to drugs off the street. These drugs are laced with other things like fentanyl. That is why so many people are overdosing. Its not the drs. Its the DEA and Medical Boards fault because they punish drs who are trying to help patients like me. Patients should never have to turn to the illegal drug market so that they can even get out of bed. Opiate hysteria has taken over our country and most people think its the drs that are causing the overdoses but in reality it is the lack of medication availability that is causing patientsto die from street drugs.

    • I hate to hear you are going through that and i understand. There are people abusing and it is a problem but there is also a huge pain epidemic going on too. Patients unable to get their pain under control (for some of us, there isnt a cure for what we are dealing with medically) have and still do commit suicide because they cant withstand the pain anymore. I hope you can find a doctor to help you soon and hang in there. There are people who understand out in this world. Much love. ❤❤

  • It feels like with Tom's music he's on this journey. The haters keep trying to hold him back so he has to stop to push them away, which allows him to make progress with his life with stuff like this. The thing about addicts is it's not about the particular substance. It's a state of mind. Anyone who's gone through it will tell you it's ongoing, not just a part of their past. Tom's been channeling it into his music over the past couple years. He may not be throwing up anymore but the Hangover(Gang) always shows up for him.
