Frame, Struts, Brakes - 4x4 Off-Road UTV Build Ep.23
Welding the tube frame, fabricating custom shocks, disassembling and assembling the independent front and rear suspension and getting this UTV finally off the wooden jig and rolling!
This is part of a series of a four wheel drive utility vehicle build to lessen the work load on my trusty 2002 Honda Foreman Rubicon TRX500FA. This partially answers the question "Why?" but for those who want to ask "why don't you just buy a side-by-side instead of building one?" I just want to say - I'm not made of money. Side-by-sides are ridiculously expensive, even the car I drive around daily is worth less (not worthless though!), hell, it is even worth less than my 2002 Honda ATV.
"How much HP will it have?" - the 1.4 litre FWD petrol engine I'm planning on using has 55 kw and this will not change, but the torque will be tripled via the BMW differentials I'm using to transfer power to front and rear axles.
"It will be too heavy!" - this project just like the firewood processor project does not have to float. And a heavier vehicle will handle better anyway when hauling heavy loads.
Stay tuned for future episodes! Thanks for watching!

😍😍😍 time for a test drive! For testing purposes only no brakes needed 😉
serious welding skills here ! Congrats.
If you don’t have a sandblasting cabinet you REALLY NEED TO BUILD ONE for your rusty bolts and little parts 👍🏼. I built one because everything I found online was flimsy and poorly made, it’s one of the best things I’ve ever built 🤙🏼🙏🏻
Did U record a fabrication process?
@@dsadzaglishvili sorry I built it awhile ago but I can send you pictures?
@@dsadzaglishvili or video?
Blasting cabinet will come!
@@DonnDIY “GREAT”!!🤙🏼
Осталось сказать поехали👍
The last hand clap and smile tells pretty much 😊👏 looks good!!
Great job can't wait to see it driving
She's looking good....Can't wait for the test start.
Great balance and shock absorbing suspension. Enjoyed 👍👍
DAMN!!!!! Incredible job as always!!!
Hi, I'm from Mexico and I want to tell you that I love your work..
Every new part is better than last 🙏 👍
my congratulations on the suspension of the vehicle, your videos are incredible !!
One of the fey builders on KZhead that I am not yelling at all the time while watching
I did not realize it was so compact. That is going to really be able to get around in the tight areas, approaches, etc. I like it!
Yup, that's the idea behind this one seater UTV - being compact and maneuverable. I'd like it to be close to the maneuvering capabilities of the Honda Foreman ATV I have. It's especially important in the bush when doing firewood.
Impressive Donn!
The pictures in your head coming to fruition , genious, could watch you all day. Thanks Barry from Dublin 🇮🇪
Sooooooo good watching smart people do stuff. Looks awesome and I know it’ll do the task that it was intended for easily. No hit and miss here !!
Love your videos! Only wish they were longer! 😄
Closing line, "I can't help myself!" Nice.
Looks fast just sitting still. Can't wait till it rips!
The suspense is killing me!!!! I want to see it run. It’s like when you completed the ATV I was glued to the video....
Sorry to repeat each time the same thing : Always a great pleasure to look at your videos !! I wait the next one now, please don't be late !!!
WOW !! Such a massive accomplishment absolutely one of a kind build !! You should be very proud of yourself !! GREAT JOB !! Can't wait for the next video !! It will be running and driving before long !!👍👍
I do not know how you do it, but the builds just get better and better!
That thing is gonna be a BEAST!!!! Can’t wait to see it finished ✅
Nice work man!
It's going to be a beast, can't wait to see in action...
C'est clair....!!!
If honestly? It will be heavy and slow.
this is why i like youtube! one of the best project ever seen !
Finally, it stand on its wheels.
This is comming out pretty well!
Awesome, awesome and some more awesome. Your welds are beautiful, and I am a retired professional assembly line welder. That wood underframe was also a very good idea. You are a very very clever young man. Art from Ohio
Thank you for the support. 🙂
einfach nur genial! und schweißen,das kannst Du,perfekt gemacht!
The suspension didn’t even drop when you sat it on the ground it sits perfect! Heaps of ground clearance. It’s looking good man 🙂
Awesome! 😜 Please make a start-to-finish video for each of your finished projects.
За применение гайковерта отдельный лайк!
Great job bud. I look forward to each video. At 60 yrs old you make me wanna build one myself. Thank you for all the work you put into doing these videos for us. BRAVO !! Yer fan in Casanova Pennsylvania
Always a pleasure to motivate and inspire! 😉
Another really impressive build!
Awesome!! 🤩 Can't wait to see you drive through some mud 🤘
Молодца!
When you weld those plate brackets to reinforce square profile joints, weld it to the edge of the profile. Then you have continous material. Now when you welded bracket in to the middle of the profile, there is no material behind it.
Your work is very pleasing! You are a real engineer and designer. BRAVO!!!
Big thumbs up, looking great. Thanks again for the video update.
Love your vids! Every week waiting patiently for morse content😁 have my own ”farm” in Sweden and continuosly upgrading it for my own hobbies
Donn, the real fun will begin when you have to paint the UTV.
It's gonna be red
@@nosweatentertainment the color should not be a problem. It's the taping up and covering up or the disassembly that will be fun.
I have no doubt. I already have nightmares about it. 🤣
@@Farm_fab I have a feeling it’s only going to take him 34 minutes to completely paint it. Just wait for the video and you’ll see. It’ll be 34 minutes. 😉
@@Crewsy true that. Real time might be different. I guess if he wants to do it fast, he could do it all in time lapse.
You can be proud of you... good job budy!
Admire your welding skills and attention to detail.
Love it!! Awesome job. Can't wait to see the first test drive.
Awesome! Little check to wheels geometry setup. Countdown is started
Perfection!
Как всегда красава 💪💪💪
да точно все аккуратно да и наличие такова инструмента а также материальной базы можно позавидовать
Это другой уровень 🤝
Great video to start the weekend with enjoying the progress 😀
Coming along nicely 👍
You should be proud of your welding skills. I think you are when you show us your welds.
Not particulary proud of my welding. Pros would laugh at my welding, and I know I have alot to learn.🙂
It's finally on its wheels, and with all these reinforcements, we can say that it is solid
We want to see that monster in action!
Cool to see the wooden frame from homemade 2x4s coming apart. I remember when you put it together and stood up the wheels next to it...I was like - hmmm - this will be interesting...haha! Looking great!
Hello Donn Diy, I haven't commented in a while. So I figured I would give you a shout out. The project is coming along nicely and as usual I always look forward to another video. I hope all is well with you and your family in Estonia. Getting pretty close to the final product and I can hardly wait to see it. Anyhow Donn DIY just wanted to let you know I'm still a loyal follower. I actually only watch to fabrication channels and yours is definitely number one. Take care and God bless.
Thanks again, Joseph. I'm glad you like the videos. I appreciate it. Take care!
Great welding, I wish my welds would look like that, thanks
Awesome 👍👍👍Thanks for sharing
Angle the output upward slightly on the fuel filter output to fight cavitation and also repriming the system from totally empty. The return style system wont care if you dont though. Just misfire when you slosh up an air bubble. Love it!
Fabrication Perfection! I love the build man! Awesome work!
Cheers man!
A beauty to behold! Really coming together nicely, Donn. Not long now... That smile and clap at the end says it all, really! Very exciting. The CNC cut parts make it look really professional. And those welds... *chef's-kiss.gif*
Great ride height. Killer suspension.
Бедный Пыжик,с него всё забирают и забирают,а он всё никак не закончится!)))
Looking really really good.
Parabéns! Tá ficando top... Não vejo a hora de ver esse monstro acelerando!
Hello Donn you are getting there slowly beautifully done good job
That smile and clap at the end shows how happy he was for the results and he should be ,its a totaly Awesome build. Looking forward to them 20 more episodes :D
Love watching you fabricate 👍 nice work
Looks awesome can't wait for the first drive
When you design the small pieces to cut on plasma table, you could leave one small connecting tab of about 0.5 - 1mm or so on each one so that the pieces do not fall or cause a collision with the cutting head. Then just pop out the piece when the cutting is done and clean up the broken tab sprue.
Как всегда классно. Жду продолжения.
That's awesome dude, well done!
If my welds looked anything like yours, I would make a video of nothing but weld close-up shots. I'm really enjoying following your progress. Thanks for making these videos.
No worries, mine don't look that good either. There's plenty to learn and practice still.
Красавчик! Классный аппарат получается! 👍💪
на стал тот день, когла он почти поехал))))круто
Nice job 👍
You are a very talented craftsman, I can not wait to see the finished product. I however I am confused but the pto being tied into the rear differential. Great job, keep up the good work. Thumbs up from Alberta Canada.
PTO tied to rear differential is for a trailer drive. I'm gonna build a driving trailer for this UTV.
You should be proud too. Well done, can't wait to see it in action!
great job already looking forward to completion. ☺☺☺
All I heard at the end was uns uns uns uns uns uns. Great background track! Jk love the progress, it's gonna be a beast!
