Hey Jeff. Please tell me if this is necessary. I try to stop Chatgpt from Hallucinating. So I asked Chatgpt to ask me questions and inform me if he is unable to obtain a solution from his database and/or research online. I haven't tried a stress test yet. But it is in my custom gpt that I am working on.
You should stress test since I wouldn't know either LOL@@ekot0419
@@JeffSu #3 is absolutely lifechanging. It really helps clarifying my question. Lets put it this way. This prompt saved me 5 to 6 house rules that I wrote in broken English and a lot more effective. I saw the difference immediately. Thank you.
That's amazing!!!@@ekot0419
spelling wrong lol 8:58 last line "be"
I added the line about asking 5 more questions to my custom instructions and I get questions automatically without asking it every time. Excellent video! Keep it up!
Amazing implementation Eric!!
Hi Jeff, I am a 63 year old who LOVES learning about ChatGPT. Your videos are amazing!
Woohooo that's AWESOME to hear!!
@jeffSu. You are one of my most favourite youtubers, here's why: No bs content, no overly complex designs/concepts, no dramatic music. Just straight forward minimal content that I can perceive to utmost level You replies/reacts to most of the comments which creates conversational atmosphere rather than a boring class. This is extremely rare(in youtubers) and very hard for you having 6L+ subs You include timestamps, video length is just perfect(not too lengthy, not too short), 2-3 videos a month makes your content rich( I have seen many youtubers who dilute their content by repeating upload everyday which causes confusion)
Wow this is the kindest comment I've come across all day, thank you!!!!
@JeffSu really enjoy the energy you bring to your videos! And also how you cut right to the chase by providing information we can understand and use right away. Props!
Thanks so much Tim!!
Great video Jeff 00:00: Introduction to misusing ChatGPT. 00:02: Discussing new feature releases and expert advice. 00:18: Custom instructions feature in ChatGPT. 00:53: Setting up effective custom instructions. 01:29: Emulating online creators' styles in ChatGPT. 02:43: Challenges for non-coders using ChatGPT. 03:04: Creating a Google Docs script with ChatGPT. 04:56: 'First try fallacy' in ChatGPT usage. 06:32: Using ChatGPT for actionable insights. 07:32: Insightful Q&A session with ChatGPT. 08:27: 'Prompt overload paradox' and effective use of ChatGPT prompts.
Thanks for another concise yet super helpful video, Jeff! My favorite tip is the "Ask me 5 questions that will improve the response you will be giving me" because I sometimes struggle with devising the most efficient prompts. Thanks Jeff :D
No problem May, maybe we can get together sometime and explore these prompts together 😁
Nice one Jeff! BTW: regarding your 2nd tip of automating docs. This also works nicely with VBA code for MS Word.
Great point!
Thanks for posting this video! These are some amazing tips!! I'm already asking for it to make me a cleaning schedule and create a social media content calendar for my small business. The 5 follow-up questions is a time saver.

As always great video Jeff, one question can some or all of this tips can apply to Bard?
Most of them will (apart from custom instructions of course)
This guy is good! His videos are thorough and informative! And he's not boring! Love the video!

Very informative! I haven't experimented with custom instructions yet, but I'm definitely going to add that last sentence from Mistake #3 to my prompts! I'll let you know how things go :)

late in commenting, it works both on Gemini and Co-pilot, however, it seems that Gemini can extract more pictures from the source materials or external materials in that manner. Jeff you're really doing hard work, even if you have AI and skilled helpers behind. Just the text prompt to come up, as a human, its already hard enough. the way you have managed to loop relevancy for any job field out there is amazing. for those who have been taking notes, copy what jeff has done but, insert [. ] for those with specific job roles or where there is frequent variables, so that when you copy and paste the text, it will be as easy as filling in the blanks
Thank you so much! I'm coming up with all this myself 😁
So good as always! Hitting that 1 mil sub soon brother 🎉🎉🎉
I hope so haha

Holy Moly! My 'Custom Instruction' was a mess and the actual culprit. You have always been a life saver Jeff. I wish Google also add custom instructions for their Gemini Advanced model. Btw, is there a way to save template with the suffix phrase "Ask me 5 questions that will improve the response you'll be giving me." and reuse that with a simple click and add the context and question to it?
Use a free clipboard manager 😁
Another commenter mentioned that he added this bit to his custom instructions.
This is very helpful. Where can you find custom instruction input? I cannot find it. Is it something that you put manually, or is there an actual button to click?
Bottom left corner :)
Gonna tell you, you DO have a sense of humor, kind of charming it is!
hahaha thanks 😁
man your production quality is through the roof buddy! well done sir.
Thank you 😁
Thank you for this video, it's very informative and helpful. I have a question regarding the first part of the custom instructions, how important is that info if I want to use a certain persona for the responses. My personal info isn't really relevant to how I want to use chatgpt.
That's totally fine!
Great tips! AI can be hard to understand, so your video was a huge help. This makes using ChatGPT for making my workflow more efficient feel way more feasible XD
Woohooo that's what I love to hear!
Thanks, Jeff, I learned a lot from this video.
No problem 😁
@JeffSu do you find that with every new version of chatGPT, the responses are getting worse?
Hm...not really, did you notice something different??
@@JeffSu yes, So using exactly the same inputs I need to run them few times to receive a proper outcome, when earlier it mostly delivered the good ones in one or two tries
Dam really :(@@enjoyvride
Jeff which AI do you think is better for coding? Gemini or Chat GPT 4? Which one is better for um niche coding languages? Like I'm using a plugin for Unreal Engine that lets me use a, modified for UE, version of Angelscript to script in UE. I don't NEEEEEED help from AI, but if I can benefit from it then why not? However, even though there is documentation there aren't too many use cases of AS-UE that I can show to AI chats. What do you think?
The only correct answer I can give you: Use the same prompt for both and see which one makes fewer errors the first time around
Great video! Where did you get the black background with white dots that’s a bit animated? Thank you!

Light.... Light sarcasm? Is that even possible? Another great video here for sure, no sarcasm intended. I am going to be checking this out again when I get to the office and really start digging into how I can continue to do far less. Okay that last sentence WAS sarcasm. See? I can see why you have so many sub's (including me now), its short to the point and easy to implement. All the other AI type content is very dry and full of marketing hype. Thank you for your hard work!
Haha thank you my friend!!
Custom instruction: From ChatGPT reply, extract and list all nouns and adjectives in glossary format with their definitions.

Amazing , thanks for sharing. But one can create multiple GPT's, ie. one for random questions, one for marketing, one for sports related questions etc... Anyway thanks, love the idea of creating multiple persona in the first box for Customer Instructions

Wait really 😂
Im curious. Do you think using app scripts is better than having a repo of templates that you can duplicate ?
Depends on the use case. Sometimes copy paste is faster, sometimes a button is faster
Now the question how I ask gpt to summarize your video and write all the prompt hacks you mentioned😊
Let me know how accurate the output is! 😁
Entering custom instructions doesn't seem available to me. When I asked ChatGPT how to do it, it said it's no longer possible since an update January 2022. But this video is from 2 weeks ago so I'm confused. It should be possible to add custom instructions right?
It's in the bottom left hand corner

Probably not yet

How much does it cost to use GPT4? I'd like to try GPT4-Vision, but not sure how to setup a non-commercial account to get access to Open AI tokens. My goal is to extract some tables from some poor-quality pdf scans.. the tools I've tried (paddle , ocr my pdf , Pyteseract , easy / keras ocr, etc) seem to have trouble with it. Would love to see if AI can do it, but don't want to invest a lot of money before I know it works!
Why not just pay for a month and try it out?
🎯 Key Takeaways for quick navigation: 00:42 📝 *Custom instructions in ChatGPT should cover a broad range of use cases rather than being overly specific.* 01:50 💡 *Utilize online creators' content to train ChatGPT's writing style by analyzing their work and instructing ChatGPT accordingly.* 02:47 🛠️ *ChatGPT can automate tasks without coding knowledge, like generating meeting notes in Google Docs.* 05:23 🔄 *Instead of expecting perfect responses initially, prompt ChatGPT to ask follow-up questions to refine its understanding and improve outputs.* 06:32 📑 *Rather than just summarizing, prompt ChatGPT with specific questions or scenarios to generate personalized insights and actionable recommendations.* Made with HARPA AI
I am a sort of expert in certain areas of darts. Try this in the sport of darts and you realize, chatgpt does not really know anything, but it assumes quite convincingly and sounds very accurate even when it is not. I am keeping that in my mind when watching how you put in contents that I know nothing about. For example, ask chat gpt what segment ls and numbers are on a dartboard and it will answer correctly. Ask chat gpt what result you get when you add up all the values on a dartboard and you will get a wrong answer. To a novice, that answer seems correct. One would also expect chat gpt to be good ad this mathematical task, so you are likely to trust the outcome.
I guess it's a good thing I'm not using this for darts 😂
Amazing. Im a fan! Thanks
You're very welcome 😁
7:54 Jeff, frankly, I think you are one of the leaders of this short-form epidemic we are facing 😆, caused by TikTok, Reels, .., and now AI summarizing feature. Maybe sooner, writers and content creators will not see a point(and profit) in creating any detailed content(book, podcast, lecture, and even articles), because our Z gen cannot endure it, and they will use AI tools to summarize it. Sadly, our attention span is getting horribly and unrealistically short, and we know, most things that are valuable need detailed explanation, conciseness comes after comprehensiveness, as a supplementary not a replacement. Btw, I love your videos, and I love AI, and I'm very grateful to you for teaching me how to effectively leverage it, yet the concerns are intimidating, I hope you'll make some videos talking about attention span and patience.
I totally hear you my friend! I guess my approach is more about dealing with reality as opposed to what "ought to be" 😅
I agree, you are right@@JeffSu

Great video and brilliant tips, thank you very much! I have one question: I’ve learned, when you upload a PDF to ChatGPT that it learns from it and can replicate the information to other users. You didn’t mention this when you uploaded the PDF in your video. What’s the story with that?
What do you mean? I wasn't trying to hide that 😂, it just didn't seem like a big deal to me. Pretty sure every online tool stores our private information...
