A guide on the EASIEST way to catch perch on lures, including tips, tricks and gear! Also including some action packed perch fishing, how to unhook a perch and more this video is a complete guide on micro jigging. The tips for this method are mostly applicable for canal fishing but the knowledge is transferable to any other venue! Lure fishing for perch has never been so easy! Remember if you're fishing somewhere where there's a high likelihood of pike I'd recommend throwing on a thin wire trace just in case!

    • Carp fishing is great but only when your determined. You can match fish for carp if you enjoy having loads out in a session but tbh I think that cruel due to the fact there mouths get very damaged but at the end of the day your fishing and that's all that matters

  • Pole Fished f1s for the last decade and went back to rod, reel, float and maggots on a new venue and caught all babies but two perch nevertheless and sort of fired up the old child in me that loves the ease and unexpectedness, found an old but good 6ft split cane rod so using that for lure fishing perch next absolutely cant wait

  • A good thing that worked for me was a similar jighead, and this pink tube with long white endings, caught 3 within an hour to two hours. Just slowly drag it on the bottom.

  • They have spikes on the gill covers too, I like to put my thumb and finger over those and the palm of my hand on the dorsal ones, they can flick and get you if not

  • It used to be that easy to catch them on my section of the L&L canal last year. Now they are few and far between. You'll walk miles and waste a full day for 3 or 4 small ones. It's like they've all gone, very strange.

  • I’ve found the big perch are in shoals of abt five but a few times I’ve seen a shoal of 15 fish over at least a pound and a half

  • UK perch are slightly different than across the big pond . Our perch are smaller and more green/yellow with less orange . Many people here see perch as a pesky bait taker

  • You are urban fishing for Perch, so plenty of bridges and structures exist. What should someone look for if they live rurally and have a canal but no bridges or structures? I know the video is two years old but still an interesting question.

    • I personally think those cast ratings are wrong, it's more like 2-10 on the lighter tip and 5-15 on the heavier

    • I think this is a 2 gram jig head mate 👍 I did see some bigger ones cruising about but I wouldn’t go any bigger than that for the size of most of the fish I was catching. Bigger ones didn’t seem interested

    • They are spro jig heads i use same ones they are great and come in a few sizes these are the 2g ones ya can get 1.5g and 3g aswell, all are great

  • In that kind of place, you can even catch with silver colored hook without a lure... Or just put some bread and reel it.

    • That's a monster, I've never had one that big. This method still works well for the larger perch, just upscale the size of your lures maybe ie using 5cm fox rage spikey shads and maybe use braid instead of mono.

  • I call the marginal jigging "Dibbling" rather than walking the dog. I find it a great blank saving method if you scale right down to a micro sized soft plastic

  • Easiest Perch method for me is to catch some minnows, use a shot and a size 10/8 hook and you'll catch every minute in the right spot 😉

    • @@fishingwithaodhancallaghan3637 savage gear mini perch kit is a good option. I’ve found if you want to try a spinner too especially in a deep canal the savage gear rotex spinner with the red around the hooks are great!

  • Hay everyone I'm interested in starting a bit of perch fishing iv been catching carp for 10 years now and have never really given thought to catching much else but I'm looking for some tips and advise on what I need to get eg Rods and reels and line as I have no idea with predatory fish only carp any advise on bits and places to buy would be awsome I'm in UK somerset area so yea if anyone reads this please comment and help me start this perch fishing adventure

    • Hi mate, if you look at lure boi on instagram his ‘micro boi’ jigs are just about the best place you can start with his matching jig heads. Fish any canal with those on a light rod small reel light line and you will catch perch!

    • Not many pike in that stretch mate! I've found usually only the micro pike go for them too and they come in easy, a fast strike too often hooks in the corner of their mouth. I've never had a pike snap me using them and I was often out using them in summer! I have started using a trace as a precaution

    • @@adventurefishinguk Completely understand what your saying but I just think that people who are new to fishing will be going down to their local canal on your advice chucking lures without traces and is not good advice for beginners fishing any water where there might be a pike

  • ive caught 3 perch 2 on a spinner lure and 1 on a float rig with a maget but i will defenetly pick ne of those jigs up i keep catching fucking roach and i hate them so much theres to many of the bastards
