500 Big Fish Live Here… but I did NOT expect to catch This! 😯

This BEAUTIFUL river has suffered from pollution, but big and rare fish still live here. But can we catch one? I can’t believe how stunning this place is, there was a completely different but breathtaking view around every corner. Plenty of bites and the chance at a very special fish, from a very special place. Trout fishing is always great fun, especially at this time of year. I love lure fishing for trout too, and spinning is always a great method.
Raw sewage discharge directly into our rivers is a massive issue, and it’s destroying our ecosystems. If you’re passionate about the topic and want to do your part to make a difference, there are a couple of petitions you can sign below.

  • United Utilities are a disgrace. Why the hell are we all still paying our bills? Water privatisation has destroyed our rivers, lakes and seas. We need a national campaign to fight the polluters. Feargal Sharkey doing a great job highlighting the current situation but it needs all of us to really make a change.

  • So many rivers and streams are just destroyed by waist. We had a flood back in 1985 which caused the Roanoke River Flood Project. While we were surveying we found multiple sewage leaks and man whole backups. Sewage was coming out of the top. So not only did the river get wider in some areas, the sewer lines had to be updated. Your area is so beautiful and your adventures you share are amazing. Tight lines, from the US to the UK.

  • Nice one George i used to kayak that section loads in high flows and the stink sometimes was minging and yet such an absolutely beautiful river. I found ond of my favourite reels tucked under an overhang in the river bank whilst kayaking and i was one hooked during Zambezi sized flows in my cheek under my eye by a rusty spinner and trebble that was hung up under Prizzet bridge that you show at the start of the film . It must have been there for years but the water was that high it caught me. I had to paddle about 500m before i could find an eddie to stop n remove it lol. Good days 😂. Nice film mate n some gorgeous trout. Ive seen Seals below Force falls before too. A long way up river . Atb mate , that rod looks mint and good luck with the lures etc. Ill definitely be giving them a go 👍. Atb Rick n Billydog

  • Hi George. You should speak to R&R about having more options for their braid. Not everyone needs 200m. I can normally get away with loading up with 100m for most of the fishing i do. I could buy 200m but If i come to an end of a 100m spool I know its 100m loaded on to the reel and not 80m or 120m out of 200m if you get what im saying. 😅😅 Just a small suggestion to help you guys compete with the bigger brands out there.

There’s also big browns, lots of Perch, a cafe with a decking over the water, row boats for hire and flies available to buy. Service is a tad slow, but the foods decent and the lake is stunning. Not expensive either, unlike other places in Derbyshire like Bakewell, which is absolutely amazing fishing but £80 for a day ticket..

  • Your next fitness challenge should be ton-ups! Find a gap between two trees or another marker of around 50m. Do 10 pressups, jog to the other tree and back and then 10 pressups and 10 situps. Run to the tree and back and do 10 pressups, 10 sit ups and 10 squat thrusts. Same again but add 10 star jumps and then again and add 10 squats. You can end it there the first few times so you do 50 exercises in total in the last set. True ton up add 10 more after each run for another 5 sets so the final set is 100!

    • @Ian-dj2nj It been proven, they are discharging into rivers way above the legally permitted licences granted. Criminal activities need to be prosecuted every time. Disgusting actions by the water companies.

    • @@Ian-dj2nj they’re definitely not breaking the law they have authorisation to pump sewage water out after heavy rainfall because the sewage system hasn’t been updated since the victorian times. the infrastructure will never be updated whilst its privately owned either because they have shareholders to pay. only option is to make the water public owned and hold the government accountable.

  • That " beautiful river " you fished for 5 hours and blanked is my local river I think. Used to be very good for sea trout in summer, but that was 10 years ago. It frustrates me seeing you catch so many fish elsewhere. Migratory fish have all but disappeared too.

  • Free market enterprise Profiteering capitalism..laughing at decent folks efforts to stop these crimes because they have the money to pay the lawyers that can twist the proper justice of the law for their corporation control of the situation.. It's all about the shareholders and the big bonuses..... We can thank Margerat Thatcher. Some companies need to remain nationalised.. Good fishin. Nature given half a chance will recover... • New housing projects are banned in Bala, Wales, until the sewage works are upgraded in order to protect the River Dee. Developers hate that, moaning like H**l about lost millions in income. Tough. Meanwhile, that's one of the worst discharges I've seen. Disgraceful, vile, behaviour by another water management company. United Utilities, eh? I'll not forget. It's far too common a practise across the country. Seemingly, re-wilding ideology and 'sustainability' does not extend to our rivers where fly-life is being killed off. You can't happily just re-stock them for the instant pleasure of crank-bait anglers. Trout fly-fishers and entomologists aside, who really cares about flies and river ecology?
