ya know what's weird, there are a ton of beginner vids and trout vids on YT but Matts comes out with one and I'm all in lol. It doesn't even matter what you're doing at this point we just love watching you man. Thanks for the content, wish there was a new vid every couple days!
Completely agree lol
Id finish cooking 🍳 then catch fish. You don't want to start a forest fire. 😮
Fishing will never be the same without my brother since he passed, we both loved u since we were little kids, ill continue for him for sure
Damn bro so sorry to hear that. Heart goes out to you
@@FishermansLifethanks bro, u were our childhood, keep going!
wooow its been years since ive watched this guy do his thing my teenage years all i did was work parttime get high as heck off some weed and watch this guy fish Awesome times
Finally, no one can teach me fishing. Like theres so many rods and lures and types of fish and so many many things. And most youtubers make "begginer guides" on how to catch these giant fishes. Talking as if you already know the basics. THIS IS A BEGGINER VIDEO. Thank you so much...
Takes me back to your OG days when you would fish rivers and streams and do a "catch and cook". Love this version of educating the first timer! Strong work brah!
Honestly, in all my years watching KZhead since 2007 in the Daxflame, nigahiga, Fred days til now, your channel has to be one of if not my absolute favorites. Whats crazy is, I don't even fish, never really have, AND I dont like the taste of fish really, never eat it other than the random sushi day once or twice a year. That must mean its you that I enjoy watching. I hope to be able to meet you one day (Im in NC) because you are such a cool dude, been watching since the beginning. You channel has recently been inspiring me to get out more into nature, so maybe I'll wind up doing my first catch and cook one day, solely dedicated to you :)
Been fishing for 40 years, but I just love watching your videos, so the subject doesn't really matter. The scenery and your personality keeps me watching every video you post. Many thanks for another great video.
This video reminds me why I subscribed in the first place years ago. Hope for more of this!
Been fishing for 20+ years. But yet here I am watching Matts teach me the stuff I already know😂 love your stuff man. No matter what it is
Vintage Fisherman's Life! I was about to say, "No avocado?", but then it appeared, lol. Thanks for another awesome vid! I've been watching for exactly 5 years now!
Love this video! I’m not a new fisherman but I’m still a novice, so I appreciate getting insight from someone more experienced such as yourself. It would be awesome if you make another video similar to this but on how to start rocking fishing! As always love the videos sending love from SJ!!!
I am so happy you made a vid for beginners fisherman, I love watching your videos but this video makes me motivated to fish myself VS just watching yours videos!. Also I love how you show everything like spool knots and also more importantly saying the risks why
Going To Kirch Flat this weekend bro‼️ Wish me luck❗️🤞🏼haha
There’s so much joy I get from watching this videos, all the while waiting patiently for my next fishing day like a true Fisherman’s Life thanks Matt 🙏.
This was a great video for starters! Thanks for changing your content ❤ 🎣
Thank you so much for this lesson. My 2 boys and I have watched your channel for over a year now and learned a lot, but this video on the basics was good enough my 4 and 5yr old could follow along and repeat after you. Once the season opens up for us next weekend were going fishing for the 2nd time ever. Thanks to you 😀
this was actually super useful. i don't think i've ever spooled a reel with line correctly. i appreciate these beginners guides so much everything from beginning to end.
Great video to get started! Although I like all the survival stuff, it is nice to see you fishing again. Beautiful river. Beautiful day. Nothing like being outdoors on a nice day.
Yo I ain't watched your vids for 3 years. Was a real secret subber and enjoyed this like an old dog coming home to its pack!
Love this basics of how you do what you do, Matts. I'm not a fisherman so it's interesting to see your thought processes.
Always great content, Matts! Your freshwater fishing videos are my favorites.
Really makes you feel like you went along on a fishing trip from start to finish; from the stop at the tackle and bait shop, the trip the fishing spot, the set backs, making adjustments, all the way to the cleaning and cooking of the fish. It's more than a tutorial. it's like going fishing with a brother or uncle who's trying to teach you how to fish for the first time.
Fishing guide 101 😅 love it! Matt, it doesn’t matter the type of fishing you do as long as you’re fishing 🎣
Nicely done Matt! Really clear easy to understand tutorial and is fun to watch. You actually covered a lot of bases. Nice editing too.
Been watching since 2018 binged all your catch and cooks and just now getting into fishing because of yah caught 4 bass so far 💪💪
I'm not a fisherman but i love watching your videos and this was great! You covered all the steps so i actually understood
Awesome video Matt! Love watching your stuff, always my man!
What an incredible video...been watching for years but this might actually get me to go out and actually fish for the first time!
Just a quick advice man! Mountain vlogs were the ones that made you viral and famous. Keep doing the out on the woods vlogs. I personally always wait for this kind of vlogs bro. Just being honest I don’t watch your ocean vlogs cuz they r just boring out there in the ocean but anytime you post a vlog in the mountains I go ahead and watch it in full. Please keep doing them much. Keep up the good work buddy
Definitely supporting this channel man this was super useful 💯 thanks bro !
Great vid Matt! I really enjoyed it. It’s how simple you kept it, reminds me of your earlier content.
Thanks for all you do to entertain us 😊
Anything you put out Matt is so informative, as a beginner fisherman makes your wisdom so valuable!!!
Your teeth skills are impeccable!!! 😆
I've been wanting to start fishing for a while so this video is very helpful. Thanks!
Appreciate the beginner tips... I need as many as I can get 😂 Been spending all my time in the bay lately but hope to make it up to the mountains for some different kinds of adventures soon!
Fish on baby! Fishing season is open, I can't wait to get up into the mountains like this.
Good to see you ! Thanks Matt
matt is back w the how to! lets go, im ready to watch
Man realizing you posted made my day
It’s funny seeing this because I used to watch the same videos about 6-8 years ago but matt posted this one so I’m watching another one today
Rooster tail w a gold swivel I always use. Always hit. Bait kaster all chrome hits good too. So noobs need to know what kind of hooks are allowed. Each river has its own set. No snelled and no treble hooks. The fish and game in ca are so strict especially in small creeks in small mountain towns. Just looking out!
this is great! I'm passing this along to a co-worker who wants to get started in fishing :)
Fisherman’s life back with more beginner friendly videos? Feels like the good days
Wow found your channel just right now and I like it , your are very communicative and clear in your point that you’r communicating. Thank you for the information. Greetings from Toronto, Canada.

Fisherman’s life babyyyyyyy 🔥🔥🔥
Great tip on wetting your hand hand before handling the fish before handling . Myself i learned from Canadian Sportfishing with Italo and the other guy . Fish are going to appreciate the gesture even fish with scales .
That was very nice to watch... Thank you
You make the best videos.
Ive been wanting to start up fishing, this beginner guide will be helpful thankyou
🤘🤘 loved how you explianed everything! should make more videos like this o/
Great Vid.! I’ve been wanting to hit some of the local rivers for some wild trout myself. Excellent information and easy techniques to follow.
This was an excellent video. Thanks!
Great Video!! Alot of good information for beginners.. Love it..👊🏻
loving your content since the start, I hope one day I'll be able to come to the US and we can shoot a video together, that would be a dream come true! keep it up my bro! 🎣💯
Thank you fisherman's life now I can finally catch a wild trout
Been watching your videos for a couple years and finally started fishing 2024! Caught 2 leopard sharks in the bay so far

This video is sooo good thanks for all I’m going to bass pro and using this video I’m going to my that setup and fish on !
I think it’s time for an overlanding pickup truck. Would be a dope series on this channel.
Thanks Matts seemed cheap and easy to get started on some fresh water closer to home for me. See you at the street fair✌🏽
damn i've been binge watching your videos and this came out, good timing
Haha I still put his playlist and just be chilling and watching it
Yump! Day one supporter what's what's over a million subscriptions we need more videos
💛...a couple notes...always have a water-purifier with you in the car or backpack... and, even seasoned fishers forget to open the bail when getting distracted... great video...
...btw, that's a beautiful pool...i won't even ask where it is because it'll populate quickly...
More so than on ocean--Polarized sun glasses are a must, even better if can get a camera filter polarized as well. Nice intro and budget friendly as well.
Lots of good info for beginners!
I would love to see you out here in the Virginia Blue Ridge Mountains catching some Rainbows 😁
Nice video I’m going out tomorrow this helped a lot will be recording and posting it on my channel. Thank you Matt.
What a great video. Thank you
I dig it! Fun video!
Matt your back in Great form
Nice. My family swears by the panther marten for sure. I like the one with silver metal, and a yellow with red dot body.
your a legend . thank you
Very informative brotha. Still haven’t caught one yet, all advice helps
Trout fishing 101. I enjoy fishing with light tackle. Letting the river/lake dictate my approach. Appreciate the vlog.
Love it how Matt explained the line twisted due to the spinner cause without the snap swivel.
As soon as I saw him tie a spinner without any kind of swivel, I thought, good luck with that line twist.
Nice to see you catching fish and cooking it in little butter again.
Dont forget nice and bright Cast master lure i never leave home without one!!!
Great episode Mate
AWESOME VIDEO! ❤
The spinners will absolutely knot your line without a good swivel. Swivels with ball bearings are ideal. Panther Martin has a double bladed spinner out that works really well, especially trolling, but will 100% twist and knot your line without a good swivel. Spend a couple extra bucks, save time on the water and the aggravation of knots.
missed this type of videos, man. back to the beginnings.
If you use fluorocarbon I recommend putting the spool(just the spool) in warm/hot water for about 10 minutes to give the line some new “memory”. Monofilament is great for using bait with a fluorocarbon leader. Mono doesn’t have a sink rate like fluorocarbon does so you’re less likely to have snags.
Hell ya. This is what I subbed for
Nice sharing Vidio.. very inspiring and useful.. always succses friend.. greeting from Indonesian traditonal gold prospecting 🇮🇩😮❤
👏🏼
Fantastic content 👌 👏 👍
Thats was a good guid thanks a lot
Love it! Can you do a video on how to fish from the rocks in the ocean?
Make more videos like this for beginners 🥰
Finally back to these classic fishing videos! Lol hell yeah, I noticed the inconsistency really messed up your algorithm views
If you are going to be traveling unknown forest roads be ready. I try to warn people how brutal it can be getting stuck, too many people have the "it'll never happen to me" mindset without even having the experience of changing a flat tire on gravel road. I don't warn people for no reason, here is my list of stuff I have constantly loaded in my 2015 Kia Soul, I have more equipment in my truck. 6k cal of food and 4 days of water (that becomes 2 days with 2 people), a change of clothes, a knife, a way to make fire, a blanket or 2, a towel to dry off, a saw, an axe, a manual style winch that is rated for at least double your vehicle weight, 3 times the flat tow line you think you need, a couple d-rings for rigging, a car jack, a tarp, hammock, extra hammock ropes (that I've had to use to get my car out more than once), and a bug net. Edit: 18" x 42" piece of 5/8 ply wood for a fast table top to not lose equipment or cutting board for the catch, I put it on top of the spare tire in my trunk. I also have 4 fishing rods and a backpack full of fishing gear in my car but that's the reason I get stuck, not to help me get out.
Yea im never going to get stuck in my Truck. Move your little pos kia soul off my trail
And a satellite phone
Yea you’re in a kia soul🤣🤣🤣🤣
Nonsense! be prepared, but I have done this shit for 40 years and never met anyone that wasn’t way way way out of there element that carried all this crap. Be prepared people but don’t go beyond your ability, no amount of supplies will save you from over playing your hand. If in doubt travel out! Leave the sketchy stuff to the locals.
If you are getting stuck… don’t use a car.
Thanks Matt. I learned a lot from watching the this video.
