Lure fishing and bait fishing are two very different tactics so I challenge@The_ginger_fisherman to a competition, to see who catches most!

The Ginger one always makes lure fishing look so easy. I've had so many blank lure sessions!
I avidly watch both your channels both very good,I find Carl teaches me more but Chris’s Lure fishing is just out of this world, his casting accuracy is 😮
Are you not allowed to use live bait fish as bait in UK? If you could Carl would’ve won easily. I live in U.S. and I use 5cm live fish to catch different species from 15cm to 60 cm easily
@@karlvanhoesel4311 you are allowed but it’s frowned upon by a lot of people 🤷🏼♂️
@@karlvanhoesel4311 You can, but remember that many anglers care for fish - We often return the fish to water in better condition than when we hooked it as there's a lot of parasites over here to remove. Hence many of us don't like the idea of torturing a live fish to use it as bait.
Cheers Robert! Happy your enjoy the channels 😊
Same
Both amazing anglers. Was a great watch. Chris is so accurate with casting it's insane. Have to admire how Carl didn't give in though.
Haha, it was haaard :) Cheers Stuart! Glad you enjoyed it!
These types of videos are my favourite. I just love watching river fishing. Takes me back 40 years when me and my dad used to fish the Medway at Paddock Wood. This is a great video. Thanks Carl.
Ahh thanks Andrew, that's lovely to hear, glad it reminds you of nice memories :)
Two excellent fisherman without a doubt, Im 67 and have been fishing since I cast a line into the Thames at Hampton Court on the Surrey side by the Lock,60 years ago. We need more young people to take up our wonderful hobby and learn the knowledge that we have gained over the years. WELL DONE,Great video
Thanks so much Robert!
I'm glad you enjoyed your visit to our little town and river....The canals not to bad either...Great video as always.
Love this. Two of my fave KZhead anglers in one video. Please do more challenges guys.
Thanks so much! More to come! :)
Great video as usual carl. Great to see you and Chris trying different things. I don't think I've ever seen anyone fish with lures like Chris he's the king of lure fishing.
Cheers Darren :) Haha, yep he is the master!
Great Battle, great to watch. Carls angling skills put up a great contest. But as Chris says he knows the river like the back of his hand and his casting skills didn't expect such a close contest. 👏🎣👌
So awesome! Chris is a good angler, and like he said he knows that river like the back of his hand. So hats off to you Carl as I think you did really well considering that 👍🎣
You can't beat local knowledge, both excellent anglers 👍
Really Carl should've gotten more cred in-video for fishing against someone with such overwhelming local knowledge and still giving a decent match.
😊👍 Thank you mate!
Man rivers in England must be real different than America. Out Greek chub are like 2 in and that's it. And you couldn't go river fishing in America without catching trout. But great video. Those chub are huge and the pike are always great catches
My 2 favorite fishing dudes collaborating. I really hope you guys decide to make more of these! Goodluck fishing!
Sure we will!
Fantastic vid. Great to see my two fave KZhead anglers duking it out.☺ And Carl's advice about bait vs lures at the end for novice anglers was very good too. Now there has to be a return match with Chris on your home turf, Carl. Make it happen sir.☺👍
Cheers mate! Glad you found it helpful too! 👍 Haha, good idea!
Great video, my two favourite KZhead fishing channels head to head. You did amazing to get so close to Chris on a venue he knows well, perhaps a round two on a venue of your choice or a neutral one?
Great little collaboration. 2 cracking anglers both of whom have heavily influenced my angling.
😊 ❤ Cheers, happy to hear that.
Yes! You guys made a video with lures!!! I was waiting for this video to come out!
Great video. For me it all depends on water temp and how concentrated the fish are. When the water is cold, or the fish are concentrated in key areas... like in a river, I will usually use bait. I fish alot of long, shallow, non-descript lake shores though, where its vital to cover a ton of water searching out aggressive fish raiding the shallows. For this I find bait almost useless, I just cant cover ground fast enough.
It really depends on the location. In a shallow and clear running water, lures are much more effective than let's say on a slowly flowing deep river where bait takes the lead.
Great video guys nice to see the two of you competing against each other That's a great little river so many large fish in such shallow water
Thanks Keith!
the vs series is a great format, lovely looking venue as well
Well fished by both guys. It was very optimistic of Carl to take on Chris on Chris' local river.
Wicked Carl. I watch both of you, so it's lovely to see you do video's together. Tight lines lads
Cheers Dan! Ahh happy to hear that :) Tight lines!
discovered your channel a couple of weeks ago and been binging your vids! i really love them and they make me want to go fishing again!
Ahhh that's amazing to hear! Glad you're enjoying the channel Dennis :) Hope you get to go fishing again soon, all the best, Carl
Epic video guys. I loved watching these with Alex so it's great you've found another way to explore this content! One day in the future would defo love to pit myself against you in this style 😂 again great video, hopefully you have more to come like this !
Glad you enjoyed it :) Thank you mate! I love doing the challenges. Definitely more to come.
Love these collabs!
You both have great fishing channels. Always put the video’s together well. Keep up the good work 👌🏻
Thanks so much, appreciate it!
Nice colab and video 👏🏻 been toying with the idea of making a “vs” series like this
As always some fine content from both yourself and Chris, loving both of your channels! This video in particular has made me intrigued about something, I noticed you had two rods with you. I can see your usual feeder rod with the Guru reel and then a shorter rod! I'm a massive fan of compact gear, I usually use 6ft extendable rods such as those from Nash or Sonik. While these can be used alongside a bite alarm I've always wanted a short rod with a quiver style tip for short distance feeder fishing. Regarding the shorter rod you have in the video, it looks like a drop-shot or jig/spin rod. I've always wondered how well these sorts of rods would fare when using them with an appropriate method feeder or bomb. Is this something you've done yourself?
Absolutely amazing video! Loved it from start to finish! Top top quality as always! Thanks
Cheers Chris! Glad you enjoyed it!
I loved this one again. I prefer bait fishing to lure but they are both great can’t wait for next one thanks Theo
Happy you enjoyed , cheers Theo!!
just in time for lunch! :) always a good start to the weekend carl! good to see Chris on here too
Carl, you and Chris should make more shows Together. You both make Great videos. I watch them all just like a lot of people .
Cheers Trevor! Nice idea :)
Great to watch two of the best fishermen on KZhead create an amazing video. Thanks guys
Thanks so much Toby! That's kind. Glad you enjoyed it :)
The best video i“v watched for along time. Hats off to you both. wicked and nail biting.
Ahh glad you enjoyed it! Thanks so much! 👍
Wohooo, a new Carl video during my learning break! awesome!
Thoroughly enjoyed this one. Great work both fishing and editing 👏
Thanks Jim!
Greats lads makes me want to get back into course fishing
Thanks guys. 2 great fishermen showing us how it’s done! It’s my local river too, can’t wait for the season to start.
You're welcome Mark!
First thing, I love both your channels! Some species, mostly trout, I don't bother using bait anymore. Ice fishing in Canada we are allowed 2 lines. I don't bother using the second set line anymore when fishing brook trout. I catch them all day long on the artificial lures adjacent to my second line with live bait and the hit the jigged artificial lure every time! They love to chase!
Absolutely loved this well done guys 🎣
love both of you guys have been watching you for years and you got me int fishing i caught my pb perch the other day in a canal in Chester a 3.1 pounder would recommend coming to Liverpool as well its tough fishing but produces monsters.
Fantastic video. And what a beautiful river! I love this multi species challenge ❤
Glad you enjoyed it!! 😊 ❤
I love this video. It was very reminiscent of Saturday morning fishing tv as a kid. Keep up the Great work :)
Ahh lovely to hear that :) Glad you enjoyed it!
Nice work! A shout-out from the USA, Detroit area, which actually has *great* fishing. I used to mainly use natural bait, and now use only lures for predator fishing, and have caught way more fish, but I attribute it more to experience, and having a boat to get to places I couldn't otherwise reach. Do a lot of trolling to cover water along structure, and often find triggering motions like quick jerks while checking the lure to see if it's clear to get 'em to strike. Also jerk/pause retrieves, especially for pike.
Brilliant seeing two of my favourite KZhead anglers head to head!
Happy you enjoyed the film!
Would be good if at the start of the video you said what month of year or date. Just to give a better idea of when to use these tactics. I know we can get a decent idea from the foliage and weather but it would be nice to get more accurate. Thanks for the vid, i enjoyed alot
Ah yes, I tend to more in the tutorials! Thank you mate, glad to hear :) you're welcome 😊👍
More videos with the ginger fisherman please!!!
I've been fishing for about 2 years now and I've always preferred lures, I enjoy moving around a lot when fishing and not having to stay in one spot for ages, great video as usual!
In the patience lies reward Dead baiting sometimes just sitting and waiting gives the larger wiser pike time and confidence to take your bait My pb lure is 19.6lb Pb dead bait 34lb So don’t over look this method Tight lines
@@andrewbrooks2645 aye true, I sometimes use baits during winter when predators aren't as active, had some nice grayling and perch back in the earlier months on maggots
Yea I agree … love roving around with the ultralight gear 👍🎣😁
Cheers! Yep agree, lures can be super fun!
Love the options with fishing 😊
Another amazing video man . Love both of you guys channel 👌🎣
i will just choose lure (not edible) because it's a matter of pure deception for me to the fish
😁 Two of my favourite channels combined! Nice serie, hope to see more episodes like this 👌
Glad to hear Peter :) Cheers! Yep, more to come!
Well done mate ! I'm french and i really like your channel, your job is very efficient and i understand well your english thus it's a pleasure to watching. Besides, i really appreciate your fishing style that is going on different tacticals ways and species, like i do. Thanks and keep going, i wish you all the best !
Thanks Samuel! Much appreciated :) Happy to hear that! Glad you enjoy the films ☺❤
Love those streams. Beautiful landscape.
Spent all my childhood fishing with floats and feeders and floating bread etc. But now im older i fish with lures mainly. Chris is one hell of a fisherman . Great content.
He certainly is! Thank you mate!
Unexpected release, Thank you so much Carl!
Thanks Pete! :)
"unexpected release"...isn't that known as premature...something or other?🤔😜
🤣 oh no
Awesome video! 🔥 Carl did well considering it's a new river for him! The margin between him and Chris was close. For small rivers like that, you can't go wrong with flake of bread. You can also catch a trout on bread! 👌
This! I’m always stoked when mullet fishing and an obliging Brownie show up ✊🤗🤝
2 top guys.... good bit of banter, and some bloody good fishing,..brilliant....
Thanks Paul! 👍
Loved this! 2 of my favourite Anglers in one video. Awesome
Glad you enjoyed it!
Your a brilliant lad keep the videos going helped myself prove on fishing love the videos as always 👍
So glad the videos helped ❤ Cheers Aidan!
In one of the previous videos when you said you would be fishing with another river fishing KZheadr I somehow thought/hoped it would be Chris. What a video this is going to be. 🙏
Great video👍🏼..Me & my bro mate you at the Farnborough show for a pic & it was a pleasure meeting u 👍🏼.. keep up the great work!
Cheers mate :) Thanks for coming :) was such a great day. Great to meet you too!
Great to see two brilliant anglers in competition.
Great vid, ginge on a binge. Punchline at the end was funny.. Serious though Carl you missed some bangers.
Beautiful River you guys are fishing. Cannot wait to visit the UK. Thanks for another wonderful video
Thank you mate :) You're welcome! Yes, felt very grateful, it's a special water indeed.
We are the winners - nice video and great collab! Thanks
Two of the best fishing KZheadrs together. 👍
Thanks so much!!!
Awesome to see you 2 together, great Collab 👍
Happy you enjoyed it! Cheers Stu!
Nice to see you both together filming ❤
Cheers Mario!
Very good video Carl! Maybe you could make a part 2 and switch around were Chris uses baits and you use lures . keep up the good work , have a good day ❤
Or get Chris on your local river.
That's a good idea! Cheers Max :) all the best! 😊👍
Another quality video full of laughs!🙌🏻 hopefully this summer we could see a challenge with you, Chris and @snaggedbro 😆
Thanks mate!! We’ll try and do something!
Thank you ....me 2 best fisherman I love to watch.....cheers chap
Great video, can't wait for river season to open
Ahh fantastic to see you both fishing together. Gutted for you Carl to see the lost fish. Such a lovely river, I bet my bottom dollar the CRT were out cutting further upstream 🤦♂️
Ahhh yes, maybe. Thanks man! :) 👍
Great video great collaboration with Chris , think you need a rematch on your small local river.
Cheers! Yep that would be fun!
Great vid - and really close result - could have gone either way. The thing to remember is that you both had an awesome day on the bank, making you both winners! Cheers Carl n Chris!
Thanks man, for sure! 👍
Well done Carl very close match, personally I like bait more since there's more variety but lures are good too and I might try them soon. Loved the vid!
Cheers Ryan! Glad to hear :) Yep, they're good fun!
Awesome camera work and audio! Finely done and fun to watch. Subscribed!
Glad to hear that :) Thanks for the sub! Hope you enjoy the channel!
Great video you never fail to impress Keep up the good work
Thanks so much Oliver! :)
Got to love when the boys link up and create some great content
☺
These crossovers are always so so good.
What a wonderful collaboration!!!
Great video! very entertaining, if you ever find yourself in Glasgow, id love to show you around The Forth and Clyde canal for a session! been fishing there for around two years and had some pike and perch success I love seeing the English lads channels showcasing the joys of fishing and down south, , would love to share the area and the joys of fishing further north!
Yes, would love to get up to Scotland more! 😊 Cheers mate!
you to are legends thanks guys for your time.
Sat here watching this video and I have found it hard to get motivated recently but im off to make a flask and have the last couple of hours on the bank. Great video its fired me up 👍👍
Ahhh super happy to hear this mate :) Enjoy!!!
Great video to watch. I really enjoyed it thanks :)
Both u guys are phenomenal
Ahh thanks Simon :)
Thanks for another great collab you guys smashed it 👌 need to get out myself very soon depressed isn't the word haha
Cheers! You're welcome mate! Hope get out there soon :)
That was good fun..that river is so clean , clear n visual..such a healthy ecosystem!..... imagine the potential of so many other places given half the chance...
Cheers! It is a special place :) Yesss, I know right. Hopefully!
Great vid as usual Carl. I don’t know how Chris can spot those fish like he does. Gutted you lost those chub and barbel. Very entertaining to watch such a close contest 🎣
He uses a good pair of polarised glasses they make all the difference for spotting fish.
@@sparky36199 I’ve got a good pair myself Mark but Chris’s skills to see them and cast right on the money are something else
@@Bustergonad81 having a clear river also helps seeing the fish more easier. And yes his pin point casting makes all the difference he seems to put his lures on the fishes nose. Plenty of practice certainly pays of.
Thanks so much!! Haha yep he's a machine! 👍
Amazing video. I always wanted to see this kind of video, I agree that fishing with lures you can get more fish.
:) Glad you liked it! For sure, lure fishing can be super productive!
Nice location, so much fish and beautiful recordings of them + live bites. Cool and exciting video!!!
Yes so many! Such an amazing river to fish on :) Cheers, glad you enjoyed it!
Love the shot at 15:56 Every angler feels that excitement when the rod tip swings round
Yesssss!!!
Watching two best fisherman competition is a pure pleasure thanks boys that was awesome……
Glad you enjoyed it mate!
A new vid let’s go I just got some new lures all the way from Estonia made of wood can’t wait to use them and soon going to start making new vids but keep up the good work and tight lines
Cheers Alex! Good luck with videos :) Tight lines!
Fantastic work guys 👍🏻
Thanks! :)
I’m not a fisherman but I loved this video! Great watching Carl and Ginger fisher man!
Awesome to hear that! Thanks Carl :) Happy you enjoyed it!
Great vid mate loved that ❤ just got beat at then end so think you did really well mate 😊
Cheers Jordan! 😊❤
aaaaah! my two favorite UK's anglers in one video! awesooooome!
Absolutely brilliant this video
Cheers Daniel!
Omg the two streamers that got me into fishing fishing 2geva dreams come true
Always happy when you upload takes all my negative thoughts away while watching the vid ❤, watched every vid multiple times I really need to start going fishing again just find it really difficult with my mental health 😒
The hardest part is finding the motivation mate I understand where your coming from, try push yourself into it and once your on the bank all the negative feelings will leave you, all the best pal
@@lilautizmo_9114 I get that it's the being trapped at the lake as I don't drive so have to be dropped off and picked up and my closest is like 30 mins drive from my house I also moved house a few month ago so don't know anyone in the area and my family aren't into fishing im sure if I asked one of them to come they would when it gets nicer weather 🙃
@d monster it's always better with other people anyway mate, maybe skim through Google earth in your area try find any hidden pools or small streams within walking distance to try ease into doing it solo and you'd be shocked what can come out of a small venue, my pb barbell (9lb 4oz) came out of a small stream maybe 3 foot deep and 7ft wide for the most part
❤❤❤ All the best mate, hope you get to soon :)
