    • Carp can get big over 100 lbs(world record is 116), they fight hard af, but there's a caveat, they spook easily, and depending on the angling pressure are hard as HELL to catch. By far my biggest fishing challenge, and I've caught catfish, carp, bass, trout, red/black drum, flounder, and more but have found carp to be my most difficult catch. Unfortunately pike don't exist in our waters or I'd fish for them too! If you want a challenge give them a go.

  • Fantastic video guys. Fascinating to hear you talk about the change of the tide being the productive period for a bite. I live in Australia now and a hugely sought after fish here is the Mulloway, or sometimes called jewfish. They are also a finely tuned predator and are best targeted during the tide change where the water is slack. The theory being they can attack bait without expending too much energy due to the slack water. They then return to shelter from the current again and repeat

You guys are my teachers and my inspiration and i am very gratefull to you. So far my biggest pike was 17.5lb and any spare time i have i go fishing. • Stunning creatures. hands up who remembers their first ever pike site? Just seen or caught....maters not... - - mine was, sadly, dead, on the edge of a reservoir in kent. a true Goliath. The child in me says 5 foot nose to tail. Im sure it was way way less, but, Id never seen a fish anywhere near that size. Bitter sweet experience that. Great vid chaps. Again!

  • Those are dandy Pike! Surprised you don't try artificial more. Chasing big Pike is like chasing Muskies, which I have fished for over 40 years. I would think big spinner baits, even topwater when it's cloudy, would be effective for those big ones. Yes, we hang suckers in late fall for Muskies, but big cranks move them too. Might be worth trying....put on a double-10 cowgirl bucktail one time! :) You should look into a "quick set" rig like we use for sucker fishing for Muskies. A two treble harness on the bait, so you don't wait at all, but just hit them as soon as they grab it. Or, use a non-offset circle hook, that way you can't gut hook them and it's self-setting to some extent.

  • Ive been fished in by thumbnails recently and I was worried that the only thing getting caught here was myself with (click) bait. I was pleasantly surprised . This is presented so well . I work in TV. I also had no idea there were pike in Europe . Thought it was only a North American species. If you are fishing in tidal rivers does that mean theyre in brackish water? And ive fished in very remote Canada by float plane, at least 500 kms from other humans or even old mining towns. . We dont do any better than you. . Athough a guy with us caught a 52 lb musky . Teeth like a Doberman. I was always last in the water after that. Afterall, we bathed in there :) . Great video 👍

    • Here you go mate, we did a beginners guide on the tutorials channel, this might help: kzhead.info/sun/ftJ6qrCwfql9i5s/bejne.html also try this, this is a pike float tying rig: kzhead.info/sun/gtKaksOSb4Brmmg/bejne.html Forceps are a must and the video shows how to handle them tightly with confidence! It's normal to get a little graze as inside their gills is a bit rough, but this only usually happens if they struggle. Also, I usually wait a few seconds before striking when the float bobs to ensure they're hooked, but not too long, so as not to deep hook them. So it's a must to keep a good eye on the float. Carp rods are rigid enough too to use when pike fishing, if you have them already. All the best :)

  • I fished in Wisconsin USA and caught my first Northern Pike. I got near a downed pine tree and caught the biggest Pike I’ve ever seen! He took my line into the pine tree and I had to break Him off. I never fished near that tree again. I wanted that fish! But not at the chance of leaving Him tied to a tree. It’s VERY addictive!

  • Great video, very well put together. You should try Lough Erne., Co Fermangh this winter! I've never caught one but for sure there's 30 pounders in there, plus hundreds of good fishing jettys and boat rentals. Sea fish baits work best there. River Barrow in Co. Carlow is another good choice. Both those waters are absolutely stuffed full of silver fish so there's always potential for a monster.
