"I'd rather hit them early and lose them, than risk deep hooking one." Amen brother, totally agree. Well said.
❤️
thats why I always carry a pair of 8" forceps and bolt cutters in my bag. Ive never had to use either of them but I never leave without them when going fishing
Rather take food along and feed them .. a chair a beer a smoke .. let nature alone
i bet you are a vegetarian @@scottsmith2310
@scottsmith2310 why are you watching a fishing channel then? 😂
Over the years I find that I've gone from wanting to catch the most fish and the largest fish to hoping that those fishing with me have the best time. I still want to catch big fish and/or a lot of them, but seeing those with me light up when they bring in a nice bag is a great feeling.
That's a natural process in mastering a craft. From student to teacher. Congrats that you stayed to fishing for that long 👍
Same bro, nothing better
I have the same buzz when I fish the river with a friend I will always place them in the best spots I would fish myself and when they catch their first Chub I'm as hyped if not more so then the person who's caught the fish. Nothing better then achieving what you set out for.
Totally agree. It's a joy to see another do well, and see the smile on their face :)
Totally agree I was the same now when I take my sons I get just as much joy if not more seeing them land a fish and watching them smash their PB no better feeling.
Never been into carp. My first Pike still sticks in my memory. Frosty and foggy morning with a spinner and absolutely fell in love with Pike.
Carp can get big over 100 lbs(world record is 116), they fight hard af, but there's a caveat, they spook easily, and depending on the angling pressure are hard as HELL to catch. By far my biggest fishing challenge, and I've caught catfish, carp, bass, trout, red/black drum, flounder, and more but have found carp to be my most difficult catch. Unfortunately pike don't exist in our waters or I'd fish for them too! If you want a challenge give them a go.
@@superuseriii carp aint getting 100lbs in the wild maybe on some pay water where they over feed them loads
Thank you korda for bringing us viewers the best fishing moments with Carl and Alex ever I'm gutted Alex has stepped back they made great viewing together
Fish aren't creatures 😕!
Many years ago I caught a 21lb pike on the river derwent in Spondon. There were also dozens of perch at 3lb plus. Amazing how all these predators were concentrated all in one place.
If I was any more Aussie I would bleed vegemite yet I never get bored with watching videos about fish we don’t have in Australia because the quality, inspiration and entertainment value of your work is so good 😎🎣👍
The grass is always greener! Can't wait for our Aussie fishing trip 2024. Be the first time i've ever visited. And I already know I won't wanna leave!
What is vegemite? Ozzy for eggs? Or kind of dinomite? Askplosive?
Apparently it is an Australian icon , a plant based substance dark brown in colour with the consistency of axle grease, and a smell that would kill a dead man in a cemetery at midnight , I am Aussie but don’t recall ever eating it but many aussies love it on toast
@@georgetinning2182 its a yeast based product similar to marmite
Amazing dudes - i just love how you are with the fish and how you treat the in the correct way, you are always so clear in what you teach and show us .. many thanks
Yet again, another fantastic video! Well filmed and edited as well as presented! Very well done guys! One of my favourite channels by far!
Wow, thanks so much, appreciate it :) glad you enjoy them.
The more I watch your videos, the more I wish I was able to get out and go fishing again. But, I thoroughly enjoy seeing you and your friends catching the big, and small fish. Please keep the videos coming, and have fun.
Appreciate that, thanks so much :) really glad to hear.
One of the best angling presenters on social media. Intelligent, articulate and without pretentious over excited hype. Brilliant videos. Korda you are onto a winner with this brand ambassador
Hi Dave, this is very very kind. Thanks so much for your support. ❤️
I agree!
Agree 100%. Been angling for 55 years, mainly sea. This is inspiring still. Unlike that dreadful faux Fish Locker guy. A charlatan. This is so authentic. I thank you.
Those pike you landed were so chill! Almost like they were happy to pose for the camera :-) just stumbled on your channel - your editing is so great! Im not even particularly into fishing but that was really nice to watch. Cheers from Amsterdam!
Carl and Alex are inspirational legends. ❤️✔️
❤️
I agree me and my dad watch your videos all the time
Ahhh :) so nice to hear you enjoy them together
It's so nice to see you Carl enjoying other people catching fish. When I go fishing with a friend we always say that we caught fish as we get back home, even when I did not catch anything and my friend did. It is the experience together and spending time with friends. Then it doesn't matter who catches fish. Love your videos Carl and Alex!
Well said! :) thanks so much!
what an absolute surprise and a pleasure to see my local river where i learned to fish 40 yrs ago and where i worked for 32 years being fished by such enthusiastic lads and what fantastic catches you had. well done
Glad you enjoyed it Jon! :) Thank you!
Really enjoy your videos and knowledge of fishing helped me massively so thank you again! Where is this location I believe we’re both Sussex way
@@jordanfairbairn I saw a nice black rabitt not far from there
I’m in love with your videos because you’ve shown the beautiful picture of your homeland-those pictures of riverside and bridges & pounds and fields in late fall time..-thanks guys one more time and tight lines 👊👊
Fishing and friendship sums it up perfectly Carl. A very heartfelt way to end a great video. Life's not always about ourselves but often about the small things we can do for others. A much nicer way to live
Well said Callum! Could not agree more. I've always found the more you share the happier you feel, it's not always easy though! Take care mate, thanks for bringing some positivity to my comments section, it means a lot.
I don’t think Carl and Alex have ever produced a rubbish video, they are all entertaining.
My thoughts exactly, Joe!
Cheers Joe and Mark! That's very kind :) appreciate it.
fully agree
❤️
Fantastic video guys. Fascinating to hear you talk about the change of the tide being the productive period for a bite. I live in Australia now and a hugely sought after fish here is the Mulloway, or sometimes called jewfish. They are also a finely tuned predator and are best targeted during the tide change where the water is slack. The theory being they can attack bait without expending too much energy due to the slack water. They then return to shelter from the current again and repeat
Well done Carl 👏 hopefully you get a big pike soon and the pond is looking amazing 🤩 cannot wait until it's done 👍
So excited! Working on the first instalment now, should be up in a few weeks :) thanks so much! Fingers crossed 😬
@@fishwithcarl can you show some respect for fish by not calling them creatures 😤
What's wrong with the word creature! Definition of creature is: an animal, as distinct from a human being.
I love your guys videos and they brighten my day and seeing you guys always put a smile on my face.
Awesome to have early access... Thanks once again gents!!! Stunning viewing! Waiting patiently for the BIG news...
Those pike you have over there in the U.K. are gorgeous! Well done Dan.
Well done lads, admire your dedication, took me back 60 years, my Pike days, now I fish for the fun, the scenery, and the table, those Pike days were my springboard to a love of those isolated beutifull places, for away from the mad world.
Haha indeed :) It's great to get away from it all. Thanks Charles! 👍
I love the triple S. Small stream surprisings. After i caught a 35 pound mirror in my tiny homestretch river, where mostly brown and rainbow trout lives, i never ever underestimate them. Much love guys, stay well.
Yes love those surprise fish!! Nice work!!! Much love!
Llandegfedd Reservoir near Usk/Pontypool in South Wales used to have some monster Pike! IIRC its where the UK record of 45 or 46lbs was caught! I'm going back a few years because I've lived in the USA for 23 yrs. We catch pike on the Yampa River near Steamboat Springs in Colorado..... but they aren't all that big. Great video Carl 🤙🍻
Dan yeoman is such a great guy. So humble. Sweet video boys keep it going ! River piking is my favourite type of dangling
We love Dan :) Cheers Jack!
I started fishing only around 5 months ago. I knew pretty much nothing about knots and pike and carp and ect. I knew how hooks work and approximately what i need to do when fish bites (lift the rod and reel in). Thats it. Fishing Tutorials and this chanel litteraly taught me all the knots and strategies and everything about the gear i need to have. You guys are my teachers and my inspiration and i am very gratefull to you. So far my biggest pike was 17.5lb and any spare time i have i go fishing. Most of my gear is Korda as well because it's your sponsor ;) and you have no idea how many lures I have lost in snags and trees and bushes while trying to learn how to cast :D it would be amazing to go fishing with you guys, would be amazing to learn more from the best :)
Are you UK based?
These videos never fail to put a smile on my face! Once again, thanks guys!
Yay :) you're welcome!

Just had this pop up on my KZhead algorithm. Great video, well shot and narrated. Enjoyed it.
Thanks so much, I'm glad!
Wow, great video. What a lovely river, it must be in a really healthy condition to support so many fine looking predators. Top stuff 👍
Cheers Stephen! Yes, really healthy :) really glad to have a really decent thriving river nearby!
Love your videos it was my birthday yesterday and have some new pike fishing equipment so I'm going to be getting out on the bank a lot over the next. I also want to say thank you for the amazing videos
Ah you're welcome mate :) Happy Birthday for yesterday! Have fun with your new gear!
Best fishing boys on the internet in England. Thanks Carl and Alex. Had nights and nights of Fun just watching you and learning from you. Thanks boys.

Great video guys. Need to do a bit of pike fishing one day 👏🏻🙌🏻
Do it, it's mega!
Absolutely beautiful fish. Pike never cease to amaze me. Great vid guys as always
Thank you! I know, catching them never gets old.
When I still lived in England Ioved Pike fishing in the local canals and rivers. Such a beautiful fish. I live in New Zealand now and we've pretty much got Trout and Salmon and that's about it. The sea fishing is amazing though.
what great frienships you share your time fishing with. My grandpa was my fishing partner, those are memories I cherish (even if he caught the biggest and the most)!
Ahh that's lovely to hear :)
Thank you Carl and Alex for your fishing tips I court so many fish
Nice one Diana! You're welcome! Glad to hear they helped :)
I find your how to blog very informative at the moment my 30 lb carp season is over for another Year so looking forward to next year when the 30 lb quest will begin again I am a 64 year old carp fanatic and call myself Crazy Carper anyway keep doing what your doing tight lines.
Cracking video lads. Nice to see Dan fishing for a change and glad your still all friends.
Thanks mate! ❤️ It was such a nice session
😂😂 I like your thinking if you are the only one there 😂😂. Lovely video guys and some bostin pike. Fair play to Korda for supporting you both. Very much a great decision for them and us all 👍.
Haha, it's the only way i'll catch! Cheers mate. Appreciate that :)
It was refreshing to see you catch something other than carp Carl😃. Nice fish, great spot, hope to see you catch some more different kinds of fish 😃
Thanks Diane! 👍
Thanks for early access guys! You’re so gracious in your fishing Carl. Wish I had a mate like you to go with, and leave all the bigguns for me 😀
Can’t wait for y’all to come to Merica we have great Pike and Muskie fishing along with trout and bass, it’s a great time
Hi Johnathan! We actually did manage to make it over to America to fish for the illusive Musky and incredible bass! Here's the film we made about it: kzhead.info/sun/mpGkabCBjIhuemg/bejne.html We're definitely coming back, but not for pike or musky this time. It'll be a summer trip for another carp fishing adventure. If you're into the carp too, the film will be out later this year. All the best! :)
@@fishwithcarl thank for the rec!! That was a really cold video, I loved that y’all had a good time.
You're welcome! ❤️ It was mega...
Love Pike fishing, great video!
This was so much fun to watch, I have not Pike fished for many yeras, thanks for this, soon time to catch a monster fish from my river thames, all the best guys.
Cheers Clive, ahh happy you enjoyed it! Yes can't wait for the pike season!! You too :)
The patterns on some of those pike are absolutely beautiful! Much different from the fish here in the Midwest USA
I love your videos it really helps me because I have only just started fishing.
Glad to hear it Liam!! Good luck with it mate :)
Another great video guys, you’ve been on fire at the moment and can’t wait until Carl’s pond is finished.
Thanks so much Jack! I'm on the edit this week :) first instalment of the koi pond build will be out in a few weeks!
“My friend Dan” = Superstar carp angler and all round heartthrob Dan Yeomans. Great video, enjoyed that.
hahahaha that's him :)
Cheers mate!!
That's a proper Croc mate! Definitely the big girl on the block! 👍👌 im a piker and yeah there getting harder and harder to find those big pike in the rivers, my p.b is 26 from a small muddy drain, my biggest was 32 from wintersett reservoir, and it was late summer! On a ledgerd live roach. Love your vids mate :) you keep it real, no acting for the camera, my daily watch now on a night 🍁 awesome job bro! I'll be watching for your 40lb British pike 😁👍
Damn, I started fishing pike when I was a small boy. Where I come from people encouraged the boys to take out the pikes in certain rivers , to make more room for trout. So I probably have killed tons of pikes and thrown into the woods. That changed with time... nowdays its catch and release, way more fun and healthy for the river system:)
well done again boy's, nice video and had fun with a mate, thank you,👍👍
Ah thanks so much James :) you're welcome
A smashing start to the weekend, absolutely superb viewing as always, there’s a place called Talkin Tarn which you guys should make time to visit, large Pike and monster Perch lurk within…
Cheers Mark!! Cheers for the recommendation, will check it out :)
Just found a new fishing channel. Nice one guys - great catching ✌🏼
Awesome! Thank you!
Saw the notification as I woke up and for a moment thought I'd slept until 12. Great video lads!
Haha!
thanks so much mate!
One of the best quotes I have ever read, “Some men fish all their lives without realising it’s not fish they are after”
❤
Your day will come, Carl. Gives the pike time to grow huge! 👍
Hahah, thank mate 🤞🤞🤞🤞
Stunning creatures. hands up who remembers their first ever pike site? Just seen or caught....maters not... - - mine was, sadly, dead, on the edge of a reservoir in kent. a true Goliath. The child in me says 5 foot nose to tail. Im sure it was way way less, but, Id never seen a fish anywhere near that size. Bitter sweet experience that. Great vid chaps. Again!
I bet, it's always sad to a fish you know pass away. Cheers Ben!! 😊
Another great video thanks for the content
You're welcome, cheers mate :) glad you enjoyed!
Cracking fish Carl! I’m not jealous…..he lied! 😂👍🏻
Those are dandy Pike! Surprised you don't try artificial more. Chasing big Pike is like chasing Muskies, which I have fished for over 40 years. I would think big spinner baits, even topwater when it's cloudy, would be effective for those big ones. Yes, we hang suckers in late fall for Muskies, but big cranks move them too. Might be worth trying....put on a double-10 cowgirl bucktail one time! :) You should look into a "quick set" rig like we use for sucker fishing for Muskies. A two treble harness on the bait, so you don't wait at all, but just hit them as soon as they grab it. Or, use a non-offset circle hook, that way you can't gut hook them and it's self-setting to some extent.
Your attitude towards other people catching is really good to watch.
Thanks so much Joel :)
good to see some fellow pike lovers who treat he fish with respect, tight lines
Cheers Matt, you too 👍
Great video! At least one of Dan’s dreams came true!
Ive been fished in by thumbnails recently and I was worried that the only thing getting caught here was myself with (click) bait. I was pleasantly surprised . This is presented so well . I work in TV. I also had no idea there were pike in Europe . Thought it was only a North American species. If you are fishing in tidal rivers does that mean theyre in brackish water? And ive fished in very remote Canada by float plane, at least 500 kms from other humans or even old mining towns. . We dont do any better than you. . Athough a guy with us caught a 52 lb musky . Teeth like a Doberman. I was always last in the water after that. Afterall, we bathed in there :) . Great video 👍
Yes been waiting for this video all morning so far and watching now
Hope you liked it Jamie!! :)
YO!!! That was an epic session, thanks guys 👏🏼
Ahh you're welcome!! Glad you enjoyed it :)
Amazing. Love this. So want to get into pike fishing but haven’t the confidence to start
Go with someone who knows what they are doing you will soon pick it up
Here you go mate, we did a beginners guide on the tutorials channel, this might help: kzhead.info/sun/ftJ6qrCwfql9i5s/bejne.html also try this, this is a pike float tying rig: kzhead.info/sun/gtKaksOSb4Brmmg/bejne.html Forceps are a must and the video shows how to handle them tightly with confidence! It's normal to get a little graze as inside their gills is a bit rough, but this only usually happens if they struggle. Also, I usually wait a few seconds before striking when the float bobs to ensure they're hooked, but not too long, so as not to deep hook them. So it's a must to keep a good eye on the float. Carp rods are rigid enough too to use when pike fishing, if you have them already. All the best :)
@@fishwithcarl Awesome, thanks for your reply oh and your book is great thanks 👍🏼
Thanks mate! Glad to hear it Bobby, you're welcome!!
Well done Have a nice week and can't wait for your next video
Carl, what a nice fish. The best part of fishing somtimes is hanging out with your friends. If you ever get to Washington State, get in touch. I will take you fishing out in the San Juan Islands.
Yes for sure, you know it. Such nice time spent with a good mate, especially seeing him catch. Ah man, that's kind, thanks for the invite! If I ever get out that way, I will.
Now that is a good, good friend.
Great video mates, you should try to visit a lake called Gigantica that has some really big carps and sturgeons, this lake is located in Portugal, I'm from Portugal and I definitely recommend you to visit my country, we have so much to offer to you guys in terms of fishing and everything else, you should search it up 😀

Next time! She loves predator fishing :) thanks so much mate!
Fishing like this, takes away the fun in feeling the bite
hi carl i have a handy tip for your next pike session. use a rubber coated net instead of a carp net because your barbed treble hooks can get easy stuck in your carp net and will destroy your nice carp net.... greetings from the netherlands
Another great video, well done guys keep it up best fishing channel on KZhead
Glad you enjoyed it! Cheers Andrew :)
I fished in Wisconsin USA and caught my first Northern Pike. I got near a downed pine tree and caught the biggest Pike I’ve ever seen! He took my line into the pine tree and I had to break Him off. I never fished near that tree again. I wanted that fish! But not at the chance of leaving Him tied to a tree. It’s VERY addictive!
Great video. That looks like great fly water.... easy access, clear back cast. Have you tried to chase them on the fly? It's epic, especially the takes which are always super aggressive! May I ask where the water is (or is that a secret!?
A couple of summers ago I was walking over the bridge at aspley marina I saw the biggest pike I've ever seen whether it be on you tube or live I can't imagine how much it weighed but honestly it was about four foot long and two foot wide.
Great video, very well put together. You should try Lough Erne., Co Fermangh this winter! I've never caught one but for sure there's 30 pounders in there, plus hundreds of good fishing jettys and boat rentals. Sea fish baits work best there. River Barrow in Co. Carlow is another good choice. Both those waters are absolutely stuffed full of silver fish so there's always potential for a monster.
Wow, amazing. I'll check it out! Thank you :) glad you enjoyed it Johnny!
Used to fish loads when I was kid got back in to it 6/7 months ago really need to find a place near me for pike fishing I want to get one this year haha
Good luck mate!
Back in my country, we measure pikes not by weight, but by lenght, so 100cm+ counts as very very big fish
Yes I hear that's very common outside of the UK :)
Awesome video! Learnt a lot about tidal rivers
Glad to hear it :) cheers!
