I played chess against a guy called Johnny whilst visiting Washington Square Park in NYC last summer! (This park is known for having a ton of chess players and chess hustlers). This was one of my most memorable chess games from NYC so I wanted to share it with you even if it was a while ago, hope you enjoy! :D

  • I really like Johnny... nonstop philosophizing babble -- hardly ever looking at the board. Very interesting. In fact, I think he has learned how to babble while actually thinking about his next move, knowing that almost all of his opponents would be completely distracted by it. He also gets the advantage of stopping the clock (as if he's not still working on his next move.) Anna, acting like she's been completely distracted from the game, says, "I feel like I'm learning so many things about life, sitting here." So, at 6:12, after Anna played ...Qf2, the guy talked (and calculated) for 3 minutes and 35 seconds, and made his move: Nc6. Then Anna played Nc5 in 3 seconds. That cracked me up. Then he looked away and tried to cheat while Anna wasn't looking -- but she caught him. I LOL'd. This video was so fun!
