Stephen Colbert took over as host of The Late Show on Tuesday, Sept. 8, 2015. Colbert is best known for his work as a television host, writer, actor, and producer, and best known for his charity work teaching English as a second language on Tunisian date farms. Prior to joining the CBS family -- and being officially adopted by network president Les Moonves -- Colbert helmed “The Colbert Report,” which aired nearly 1,500 episodes and required Stephen to wear nearly 1,500 different neckties. The program received two Peabody Awards, two Grammy Awards, and several unwelcome shoulder massages. It won two Emmys for Outstanding Variety Series in 2013 and 2014, both of which appear to have been lost in the move. Colbert is pronounced koʊlˈbɛər, according to Wikipedia. His understudy is William Cavanaugh, who will be hosting The Late Show approximately one third of the time. Good luck, Bill!"

  • 1. One Step Up 2. Tougher Than The Rest 3. Drive All Night 4. My Hometown 5. I'm On Fire Bruce Springsteen is my favorite artist of all time. It's so tough only giving a top 5 when he has written over 120 songs that I love!

    • As a die-hard Bruce fan, I've gotta say that "I'm On Fire" is one of my least favorite songs by him. Sounds too much like he's trying to do an Elvis impersonation on that one. And while the 'Born In the USA' album is great, each of his previous six albums are far better. You can't go wrong, however, with any Bruce album for the most part.

    • @@robertbykowski1398 I agree with you 100%. It is basically Bruce doing Elvis. He does it well, but still. It's a good song, but not really one of his best (in my opinion).

    • Speaking of Nebraska, I would argue “State Trooper” has to be one of the most chilling and eerie songs ever made!! It shows how versatile the Boss is; that he can go from uplifting, upbeat power anthems to songs like that like it’s nothing. Most of the time when you hear songs that are meant to be disturbing or ‘scary’, they’re almost trying too hard…’State Trooper’ on the other hand, works because it’s so subtle. Just the repeated line “Mr State Trooper, please don’t stop me” really leaves a lot to the imagination!

I credit him for introducing me to all the best music and musicians that had great music but were relatively unknown. He had a copy of “ Greetings from Asbury Park” and played “Spirits in the Night” for me. That was the moment I fell in love with Bruce. I raided my brother’s record collection. The only Bruce records he had back then were Greetings and The Wild the Innocent and the E Street Shuffle. I’m 58 now and have been a diehard Bruce fan ever since. • Now this is interesting... several hundred people have responded with their own top 5 Springsteen songs and nobody has the same list, and there's about 70 songs mentioned. There's only a hand full of artists that have that large of a catalog that appeals so strongly... to so many people. Having watched thousands of Bruce videos on youtube I've figured out the secret sauce as to why he is so popular. It's because he gives a damn about his music about how it should be played and the passion with which it should be sung. For example: New York Serenade (2013 Rome) might be the best moment in music history as Billy and Jackie boogaloo down Broadway, until you listen to Jungleland (2009 NYC). 40 years after he wrote Jungleland he still sings it with as much passion as ever. Go to the 8:00 mark and watch and listen... he's totally consumed and in character, and each line is a poem of perfection working towards the seminal Jungleland screams at the conclusion. All we can do is thank him and listen to the wonders he's brought forth. My 5: 1) Racing in the street (Paramount 2009) 2) NYC Serenade (Rome) 3) Jungleland (NYC 2009) 4) Bobby Jean (2013 Wrecking ball Tour) 5) Thunder Road - any version. I know every word and sing it to myself all the time. "The screen door slams, Mary's dress waves... like a vision she dances across the porch as the radio plays, Roy Orbison singing for the lonely - hey that's me - I want you only. Don't turn me home again, I just can't face myself alone again.... I like Bobby Jean because he wrote it for Van Zandt... and in the middle of the song they lock eyes and there's a moment between them.
