Bruce Springsteen invited an Australian schoolboy onstage to perform with him during his show in Melbourne.
Springsteen is seen speaking to the audience member holding up a sign which read: "Missed school in the s**t now, can I play Growin' Up with you?" To see more, visit www.independent.co.uk/video
No matter what happens from here, this young man will never forget this moment.
❤
Do you think that may have made that young man’s entire life. How compassionate, how beautiful
I like the facial expression on Mr Springsteen's face - so honest, full of joy and good mood. Extremely valuable...
Springsteen grew up poor. I was three years behind him in Jersey. His family could never have the house that my parents had, and my parents were not rich. He grew up in a half of a duplex in Freehold, miles to the south of me. I often went as a kid to NYC, a bus-ride away, and my mother loved the art shows in Greenwich Village. I love the picture of him, a teenager, standing outside the Cafe Wha? in the Village, and the carousel on his album is the one I used to ride at the shore. He's a solid Jersey guy, humble and thankful for his blessings. He is a remarkable talent in his craft, but in addition, I know that he has that Jersey heart of helping others and never getting too big for his britches. I don't know him personally, but I know him as a homeboy.
I really Love Bruce Springsteen.
Hello, how are you doing? It is nice seeing you here.
Bruce once passed me busking, I was playing a version of hungry heart that I kinda come up with myself. Good musicians deserve that credit. Him and Patti left a decent tip. Ten minutes later he come back took me to a music shop and bought me a new guitar. He's a brilliant guy.
Wow really?
Yea sure lololol
i love him
Beautiful.
How cool is that!?
Bruce looks like a proud grandfather who sees his grandson preform for the first time!
Hello, how are you doing, it is nice seeing you here.
To his dying day, this young man will never forget these moments. God bless Bruce Springsteen.
Bruces face is a delight when he realises the kid can do it.
EXACTLY!
0:50 secs Priceless. The kid will remember that forever....
I lost my husband, best friend and soulmate to COVID19 April 3rd. He introduced me to Bruce Springsteen music when we started dating over 18 years ago. Im so sad for the state our country is in and the huge whole in my heart for his loss. However, Bruce's music helps get me through. ;)
@Guy Meister I agree - too much on the line, but still pretty sweet.
@Guy Meister Spot on my thoughts exactly.
The composure this kid had. Can you imagine singing inches from the Boss's beautiful face.
This had to be the absolute best day of this kids life! What a great job and thanks to Bruce for inviting him up on stage with him.❤
That boy will cherish this for th rest of his life. Sweet moment. I love The Boss! And great job, kid. Hugs.
How much do you want to impact this young man’s life? Bruce: yes
Jake Armstrong solid comment, my friend!
Ya, them 170 thumbs down can leave America.
Reason number 273626172 why bruce is the god of rock n roll!! Such heart, charisma, and genuine through and through! Long live the boss!!!
if you haven't already watch No Surrender with the two guys having the time of their life.
Freaking awesome. He made that kids day.
In these particularly dark times that has just put the biggest smile on my face.
Me too, Jonathan Dunn! This is awesome.
I couldn't agree more...
Me too!
Me too!!
This bring smile and tears. STAY AT HOME and keep your spirit up by viewing such great hearthfull moments. This is is the best cure known for that shit. For the moment, I hope...
"Best moment of my whole life"...
Ok. That was freakin cool. Kid was calm as hell. I’d be freakin out
Same here. Knowing the chords is one thing, I have no idea how you could keep it together to play onstage with The Boss in front of tens of thousands of people.
And that's why he is The Boss
He is the Boss, because he'd payed the entire crew, (stagebuilders, guards etc) and the 'touring band' (not E-street band) their paycheck. That's how it started a long long time ago. (Still is paying their paycheck ofcourse) Someone asking a question about something and the other guy answered with "ask the boss'. Since then, Bruce is 'the Boss' because he was their boss, they worked for him. That's all, that's how he once got that name. Fans took over 'the Boss' and it became a title.
@David Davidson What is the "dmc"? Are you attempting to imply that Springsteen is a puppet for the 'DNC'? Perhaps you should get some education before you open your mouth.
@David Davidson Then i can only imagen who's bitch you are. Wanker.
Amen.
QuidoBritt Almost, but not quite right. He actually got the nickname while playing clubs with a band called Earth in the late 60s and he had to collect the band's fee from club owners and distribute it among the band afterwards.
People make music, Bruce makes memories
Saint Dave Truly he does. Lookit Clarence’s nephew too.
The Boss made, makes, and will make... History of the Rock and Roll.
Both
That was brilliant Brought tears to this old man's eyes.
Don't worry, you're not alone...
I joined in too. A good cry!
If this really was totally unprepared and unrehearsed, it is one of the most beautiful musical moments I have ever seen and heard in my life. And even if it were prepared, I don't care a bit, it still is most beautiful and absolutely magical.
Best I've ever seen
It's rehearsed he had this guy on before
Oh yeah? I wonder where that footage could be?@@jeromesevy1112
Bruce is a rehearsed kind of guy. Master showman and wonderful at it. He leaves nothing to chance.
lets see some proof. i dont believe it. this was real@@jeromesevy1112
The world needs more Bruce Springsteens. He is such a truly wonderful bloke. And a great musician. Bravo!
Yes
If any musician wants to know how to create die-hard fans, spend ten minutes watching Bruce.
Growin up in North Jersey, Bruce was the soundtrack to my youth!
You know what Foo Fighers are?
I grew up litening to Bruce on my dad's old Record player, I remember he had an entire shelf dedicated to vinyls, and we had Born to Run on vinyl. The first song I ever heard was Thunder Road on Born to run, just 9 years after it came out, from that day on, I listen to that album every day on the way to work as it takes me more than an hour to get there, and let me tell ya... from home to the office, I'm singing my lungs out and dancing around in the car. I even taught my kids to listen to Bruce. You got to get started when they're young you know... 2...3...4 years old in the car on the way to school: Bruce, the doors, Jimi Hendrix, U2 and many more. God I LOVE THIS!!!!😆😆

Even though I'm from the Philly suburbs, I was never a fan until after I moved to the West Coast, and ran into Bruce - twice. The first time I was standing at the counter of a movie theater in Westwood buying tickets to see My Cousin Vinny. My girlfriend was visiting from Atlanta and I nudged her and then whispered to her that Bruce Springsteen was waiting right behind us with his girlfriend. "That's not Bruce Spring..." was all she got out before it hit her that it was actually him. No entourage, no bodyguards, just him and his girlfriend waiting to see a shitty movie on a Wednesday night at one of the smaller of the half dozen movie theaters located within Westwood Village at the time. The second time I ran into Bruce was at the Harley dealership on Sunset Blvd. My friends were looking at bikes in the showroom, and I had just ducked outside to have a cigarette when up rolls a guy on a custom chrome beauty. He shuts her down, then takes off his skull cap, and I see that it's Bruce, again with nobody to, "shield," him from some unknown threat or annoyance. "Nice bike," I say, to which he replies, "Hey thanks man." At that point I started thinking that here's a guy who is a bigger star than almost anyone you could ever run across, and yet, unlike most of Hollywood, he's anything but a looney degenerate or pretentious pussy. Shortly thereafter I made an effort to actually listen to the songs that I'd heard flowing throughout the background of my childhood, and realized that while he wasn't one of my four horsemen of Zeppelin, The Who, Bowie, and Pink Floyd (Conquest, War, Famine, And Death), I'd definitely written him off too soon. So here's to you Bruce. You're a cool dude to be sure, and if your politics were more aligned with my own, you'd be damn-near unassailable in my book.
This is the best thing I’ve seen in months. Rock n roll will never die. Lucky kid.
I cried and smiled at the same time! What a magical moment this young man had!
When this kid is 80, he will look back on this as the greatest moment of his life
@Staying Sober thats awesome to hear bro. I'm super stoked that you had that experience and many more. Peace and love brother 🌼🤩🏄♂️
He prolly already does

The humanity & humility Bruce displays is part of what makes him the great entertainer he is.
so very well stated arizona doowopper, this is why Bruce is really the Boss'
And that's always been the case. First time I saw him was 42 years ago today.
Well put! He was and always will be The Boss.
Back when you could still scream in each other's faces, those were the days
@@Honyakker ciao alex! Cone stai? 🙋♀️😊😘💘❤️
It is refreshing to see a young person with fantastic taste in music and on stage with a Rock and roll Hall of famer. This is a memory that will last a lifetime. Kudos to Bruce for making this possible.
Woke up with a headache and backache. Somehow they're gone now. That's our history and our future up there.
Bruce made that boys life! He will never forget it
Come on he was an obvious plant and it was preplanned. I can't believe how stupid people are.
What a wonderful display of love and kindness. Bruce created a memory that the young man will never forget. BRAVO!
The year is 2077: "Hey, kids, did I ever tell you about the night I played on stage with Bruce Springsteen?" "Yeah, grandpa, about a million times".
Who Cares
How great was this kid?? Just went along with everything & he enjoyed every moment!! What a memory!
Hello there, how are you doing today?
1st time watching & realized I'd been smiling the whole time.
None in the world do this ,two men on stage play together, for the boy you have played with the boss a remember for the life
Same here :-)
And even a few tears mixed in there.
True
Whenever I'm down I watch this. So amazingly joyous. The cure for depression?
Love that man. Nothing fake about him, just so genuine through and through.
gustenvarius80 amen to that brother
Hes a complete aholes
You clearlyt didn't read his autobiography. :D
What is fake about him is that he brought this kid up on stage a couple years before this, and is now pretending like he never met him before.
The Funkloft Everything he mentioned in his autobiography that he said he did that was bad, he admitted it completely and told the flat out truth. He didn’t hide it or try to make it seem better than it was. He’s a genuine guy.
THAT WAS THE ABSOLUTE COOLEST EVER!! Bruce is such a generous man with his fans!
That is something that young man will never forget when he sitting in his rocking chair in his 90s he will still tell the story of the Bruce Springsteen concert. Thanks Bruce
Yes. What a lovely memories I love this song Bruce did a lot of good songs. How are you Victoria ?
Humility, kindness, coolness, Springsteen got it all. This young man must feel proud and lucky.
Humility, kindness, coolness. We see that in people who are doing a good job of living.
He had the presence of mind to get the selfie at the end. This young man could go far. :-)
That kid is headed to Carnegie Hall....unbelievable confidence....!
Bruce’s reaction makes me so happy, but I’m also just so happy for this kid
Love how The Kid has his shirt sleeves cuffed up just like The Boss would at that age!
It’s 2019 and I just can’t help breaking out in a stupid smile every time I watch this
Nicole donahoo thought I might be the only one.
Yep me too.
Me 3
The same here!!!
Me too.
Now that’s something he’ll never forget
This kid lived my dream! I’m 58 now seen Bruce over 50 times waited and waited and waited after concerts for just a glimpse without any luck but man those shows!!! No one ever has or will ever perform live like The Boss! Get that selfie kid. Good one!
Can you imagine when Nathan got home that evening? "Hey Mom, I was onstage with Bruce Springsteen tonight". Mom:"Sure you were honey.

What a humble kid, seriously so good, more parents like this please raising the next generation! Hats of to you mom and dad
I have passed the age of 50 now and these are dire times for humanity. This video and so many others of Bruce and the band and the fans are my well of sustenance, a place i can visit for positivity and hope.
66 yr. old woman and agree...a total package with talent, charisma, down to earth and a crowd pleaser with a Family and kids and I believe a strong bond with all.
He gives his all, always has.
Absolutely!!! Amen
Bring it on!!! xox
Doing that this whole past week, sadness & joy intertwined. Bruce in a live version is indeed a religious like musical uplifting occurrence.
I was there. This was magical .. everyone was smiling ear to ear
So was I and always remember this as the highlight!!
Same here, beautiful memories.
I didn't get his name at the end when Bruce announced it. Did you? i'd love to follow him and see where he goes with his music!

Nobody relates to their fans like Bruce. He is unique.
Look at the smile on Bruce’s face He loves it!!!! Great stuff
The 245 that did not like this... were they ex-girl friends of this kid on stage? How can you not like this?
This is truly the Bruce we all know and love because of a simple act of kindness to a young man he let sing with him, and the young man sure knew Bruce's music, so we know Bruce Springsteen still impacts young singers today. This brings tears to my eyes but I still watch it over and over again
yaiiuu
Amen, Marilyn.
Love your comment.
Bruce Springsteen’s music has staying power. It is very American and sincere. He is very talented
OMG me too...I totally teared up watching that!
Bruce was sooo impressed that he had a young fan like that who knew his music, kid did a great job...
Watching this makes me soooo happy!!!
55 Seconds in Steve Van Zant comes over like a father checking on his son- what a true legend he is too
Didn't take Steve long to figure out that Nathan needed no help at all!
Yeah! Little Steven and the Disciples of Soul were quite a band... "Men Without Women" (1982) with Bruce on backing vocals (uncredited) writer/ producer... a key figure in the New Jersey Sound; that "Miami Steve" Van Zant.
I have watched this video more than once and I still believe this is the classiest thing a world renowned musician has done for a young fan.
Not many people have the chance to be near geniuses like Bruce
Bruce is every day bigger and better than ever before! We're fortunate to have him! God bless you, Bruce Springsteen! All the best!
The kid was fantastic, but I just collapsed into tears when he took the selfie at the end. Perhaps he didn't realize that a million of us would have already seen his debut on KZhead.
How the hell was that kid so composed?! That was a pure joy to watch.
How was he so composed? Some people are like that. It's a very good day when you meet one of them.

Hello, how are you doing? It is nice seeing you here.
LOVE TO SEE THIS YOUNG MAN NOW 2024 COME ON BOSS LET'S FIND HIM LOVE LOVE THIS IS AMAZING AND I JUST LIKE TO SEE HIM AGAIN GLORY ALL LOVE LOVE LOVE
When The Boss and band mates nod their heads in approval again and again, you know this kid nailed it!
More musicians should do this. I bet this young man felt like he was on top of the world at this moment something he will never forget for the rest of his life
Keith Urban did that for a fan, he let the fan come up on stage and sing a song with him. It's on here.
Dave Grohl does it all the time check it out.
Paul McCartney has been signing autographs on fans' skin on stage for quite awhile.
No, he'll never forget it, I bet he's going to show this to his grandchildren in decades to come! Do as the Boss say's and keep practicing your pose:-]
Nathan is a very talented singer ad musician. Check out his channel. Way more talented then most of todays "stars".
How effing awesome was that!!! Imagine being a parent of this young kid. The smile would stay for EVER!!!!!
The way how the band knew how to follow Bruce at 04:36 is just pure bliss. Years of experience of absolute god tier musicians. Just so nice to see!
What impact do you think that experience had on that kid's life??? WOW.
Bruce is one of the good guys
that was so good! and at the end he gets his selfie, even though probably most of the crowd has recorded it and shared it...a bit of magic...
This kid was ON POINT. .....way to go Bruce

A man and artist with real character and class. Bruce is great. He gave that young man memories he’ll never forget. 👍
The Kids Awesome!!!
I can't imagine anything more exciting. What an absolute thrill for that young man. What Bruce Springsteen and the the E Street Band and their music mean to me is hard to put into words.

35 years of listening to the boss,, this must be 1 of the best ive seen
Two days away from Election Day, truly worrisome times ... and then there's Covid, the nightmare that won't go away. I lay in bed, doing what I typically do before nodding off: surfing KZhead to find something uplifting/positive/motivational. Thanks, Bruce -- you covered all the bases. This Midwestern middle aged elementary school teacher falls asleep with a happy heart. Best bedtime story ever.
I watched it 60 times and cant get enough. I am a big from this Nathan now.

THIS is why he will ALWAYS be The Boss!!! Brings tears of joy to my face

supercool, smiled through the whole video
How awesome was it that this very talented young man had the true appreciation for Bruce's music, and got to play onstage with him! Chance of a lifetime!
Not really a fan of his music, but this is one example of why I think he's one of the coolest artists on the planet.
That is simply impossible. Bruce has something for everybody.
People that think they know music don't like Springsteen. It's a weird phenomenon. The level of dislike is directly correlated to how much their favourite bands suck.
Me too. I LOVE him as a person, but....
@@thomasmills339 you do realize music is subjective, right? My favorite band is The Beatles. Pink Floyd after that. You will not find a credible musician anywhere who thinks they suck. I love Bruce as a person and he clearly is talented, I just don't like most of his music. When I hear him sing "...senorita, come stand by my side", I want to ram spikes in my ears to make it stop. But its not a slam on him. I'd have a beer with him any day.
John C Have you listened to Nebraska Album?
This was actually the Brisbane concert, Feb 2017. We chatted to Nathan after, lovely kid. It was the second time he'd been up on stage with Bruce. My kid had a sign also and wanted to play Born to Run with Bruce. Instead, he called my kid over at the end of the concert and offered up his harmonica. Had hoped to get footage from one of the many around us filming, but alas, a couple from NZ said they'd email it and never did. Such a great memory. Bruce is a truly gifted musician, singer and songwriter. It is so lovely of him to inspire the next generation with offering opportunities and gifting them instruments. God Bless him.
Aw, what a great memory but I’m sorry you don’t have the video.
