  • I first saw Bruce in 1977 at the Cleveland Agora. I was hooked for life, Next year,, 1978 I couldnt get tickets for his concert, but i went to see Southside Johnny at the Agora that same night. After he played the Richfield Coliseum show, Bruce, Clarence and Steve Van Zandt, came down to the Agora and played with Southside until 2am. It was spectacular. Its the most fabulous time i ever had at a concert. God bless them all for all the joy this band has given me throughout my life

  • I was there that night. I sat to the right of where Bruce was so I watched the monitors. When he talked about his regret in not having the band inducted with him in 1999, you could see the tears in his eyes. Then the camera zoomed in on Steven who just let the tears flow. No matter who you are, you make mistakes and have regrets. Springsteen is as real as it gets. Respect.

Listening to Jungleland - Incident on 57th Street - NYC Serenade - Independence Day - The River - Racing in the Streets - Thunder Road - Prove it All Night - and Promised Land - all in a row in that order - will quell any depression that besets old men like me - late at night.

    • I don't think your interpretation is correct but maybe I'm wrong. The reason they band wasn't included in the first place is one becomes eligible after 25 years. But because the band didn't get album billing til 1986, Bruce was eligible but the band wasn't. I don't remember hearing that he considered backing out, but maybe I'm wrong. My interpretation it was more whether he would include the band or not. Stevie lobbied for the to be included, and Bruce ultimately didn't agree. In this speech, he explains and apologizes.

  • I have been a Bruce fan for many years and what I have learned from him is that when you become an artist, dont pick an artist name that starts with a B and has a U in the middle of it, because when people shout your name at a concert or somewhere else, it sounds like they are booing you.

  • Stevie was right on this one. Bruce should have petitioned the Hall of Fame to induct The E Street Band with him in 1999. Clarence and Danny would have been alive to see it. Bruce clearly regretted the way that he had treated the boys in the 1990s. That is why he changed the words of the last verse of "Blood Brothers" during the Reunion Tour. Although Bruce writes and composes all of his own music, the boys have significant creative input. That is evidenced by Bruce's work during their fallow period. The 1990s were his most uninspiring as a musician. There was even an unrealesed album in 1994. Landau informed Bruce that if Springsteen had released that album (coming so soon after the critical and commercial failures of "Human Touch" and "Lucky Town") that he would have been "finished" as a recording artist . He works much better within the confines of the band ("Nebraska" and "Tunnel of Love" being the notable exceptions).

    • I agree with you that Bruce regretted his decision not to advocate for the band to be included along with him. He clearly had enough power to do that. The high emotion was regret that Danny and Clarence were not there when the band was finally inducted. The best rock 'n roll band in the world and Bruce is at his best with his brothers beside him!
