  • Apple is smart. The price means nothing......whats important is that people who demo this or try it for the first time while be deeply impressed rather than "teased" with this technology. All other headsets have been half baked or clunky. This is the first glimpse at the future being done with grace and intuition!

    • @@alexgoriatchenkov he's not wrong though. They could've released this at 9,999 if they wanted to. This is a first of it's kind and (if this turns out like something great, which it probably will) this will be a baseline of everything that is to come in it's genre. Price doesn't matter for a first model like this because it's something completely new. A consumer-based version of this a couple generations forward, that's when the price WILL matter.

I just realized that she’s the only reviewer that I could watch like an actual TV show. 📺 Watching her on a floating screen as I animated on my iPad, really felt like she’s a prelude to mobile apps, slowly becoming the future of broadcasting!✨🚀🛸 Cannot wait for her VP to arrive I can watch her, explore it for us all day long!!

  • I feel like vision pro will be such an innovative approach to learning any instrument like piano for example. By simply wearing the device, you eliminate the need for printed music sheets. The device projects the score directly in front of you, complete with guided instructions for the instrument. Additionally, possibly utilizing the microphone, that can correct you and ensure you hit the correct notes.

    • I saw an app like that on the Quest 3 and looked pretty good, a similar one with the resolution and precision of the Vision Pro would be amazing.

    • You mean Piano Vision which exists since several years on the Quest VR Headsets? Apple isnt going to do something which hasnt been done by several other VR Manufacturers, it is just another VR Headset, but with a nicer Design and UI.

  • You can airplay what the vision pro is seeing to your ipad or iphone so you should be able to record that stream for your reviews of the headset. It is limited to 720p though.

  • Would love to know whether using a remote mac screen feels high-resolution enough for actual work and also whether looking at a real physical screen is readable enough with the pass-through cameras to work from with the headset on.

  • 7:50-8:05 she described it perfectly. I wouldn’t call it eye strain, just a lot of “wow… brain cannot compute” moments 😂 it took me a moment to readjust to reality after removing it

    • You can connect it to your MacBook as an external display, so it’s similar when you use that.

  • It's tricky to predict how this will go. The price is high just to consume content, but the potential for visual creatives is high, we just need the software. I bought the iPad Pro thinking it would become a retouching device, but found myself going right back to my Mac because the software just didn't work well. That said, I'm releasing my app on the platform. It's an innovative product and I'd like to be a part of it.

    • From what I stand, it looks like a "skip gen 1" kinda product and wait until they release the next gen one which hopefully will be more affordable, and there will actually be content for it. I still don't see how anyone would feel comfortable wearing a heavy headset for hours in an office or even at home, when you can watch a movie on a big TV lying on your side on the couch or a sofa.

  • Advantageous for Apple to have the integrated low power M2 for it, others would struggle to put that power in there. They could do an underclocked M3 pro version. I'm not a fan of Apple but they could do the Ironman jarvis demo with it. It's powerful enough to run large language models.

  • I think this is the beginning of an incredible way to be home and learn . Of course this is new. Just like when the first smart phone came out. Today we do almost everything on an iPhone or on an android device. I can imagine being home and going virtually to an excitement place. This will be awesome

    • This isnt new at all, it is a VR Headset like the Quest 2 or 3. The Quest 3 also supports mixed reality. It is just a VR Headset but made by Apple with nicer Design and UI.

  • I’m so curious if there will be one a way to airplay what you see in Vision Pro to a tv to like show others what you see? Not maybe the most useful, but it’d be neat to be able to capture what you see and share it.

    • Yes there is mirroring to AirPlay devices! They actually changed it from 1080p to 720p tho for some reason. Like bruh. Why tho? Just sharing?

  • I wonder if I can really use this as a high-quality portable monitor, when working on my laptop. Like, how well would that work? Would I still be able to type? Being able to write code in this thing sounds like it could be awesome, or horrible. ;)

  • One question I have (even though I can’t have the headset right now) is if you are considering how to decorate your space, house or office for a spatial workflow? I imagine a workplace can be much more comfortable if the concept of the desk and cubicle no longer exist, I imagine in a far future it can change if spatial becomes standard computing

    • I wonder about this too. I use a computer with 4 ultrawide monitors + a quad-view studio monitor for video production. My desk takes up so much space and the thought of just putting a headset on and having essentially unlimited displays sounds amazing.

    • It's a Mac computer. Anything you can run on any other Mac can run on the Vision Pro.

    • iPad apps will be compatible with it generally. Mac Apps will not run on the VisionPro. However, you can use the AVP as a giant monitor for your Mac to run those apps. I imagine over the next year, many development shops will bring out AVP versions of their apps. The challenge will be making them compelling to use over iPad or macOS versions.

  • if i'm near sighted do i need lens inserts? since the screen is so close to your eyes in the AR environment wouldn't something 'far away' still be clear?

    • @@chezchezchezchez you still need lens inserts. Alternatively, you can just wear your contacts or glasses but they aren't comfortable and you could break your glasses or scratch the Vision Pro lens which is wad going to be expensive to replace. I have meta quest 2 and I have to use lens inserts too. It's the same for any vr headset

  • On the quest 2 the field of view is somewhat limited on the sides, how is this different on AVP?

  • I would be very interested how long these sessions were. Because I kinda think that's gonna make or break the thing. I'm pretty sure it will get so tiring fast, especially if you try to do anything productive like do spreadsheet work or browse in safari.

  • Does it have boundaries. Does it have a limit on how far you can walk? Can we walk around in town wearing it. Is the battery usb c pass through can we charge the battery with a powerbank or power adapter while using it

  • @ijustine for the review, please test how the Vision Pro interacts with pets. I have cats and I don’t want to step over them when I’m in full immersion mode. Also, how hot is the immersion in a dimmed room, so basically how good are the cameras.

    • I know from experience that dogs don’t like it if they can’t see their owner’s eyes, and this is the only headset that emulates the eyes. As for not stepping on a cat that runs by, other headsets have warning systems for moving objects, so apple may implement something similar. This will mostly be used sitting down, I think.

  • You bring up a point I never considered before, Justine - if you are so immersed in a beautiful drama or a touching memory with spatial video, that you ACTUALLY start to tear up or cry - what do you do!? Will the tears damage the electronics? Now I need to know!

  • These are fascinating however they are heavy a little over 1lb for short term use it maybe ok but wearing them daily, we can compare them to the weight of night vision goggles which have for years caused chronic neck injuries from extensive use and they are not much more heavier then these at about 1.5 to 2lbs for night vision goggles used by soldiers with neck injuries. I am curious to see how users necks hold up to the weight.
