    • The Dell XPS 15 is no slouch, and there are very few options, if any, that will give you a better, smoother Windows experience. Windows feels like it was made for developers and technicians and MacOS always feels like it was made for... people. And I'm someone who has used Windows almost exclusively. But there are things which are hard to deny. In terms of pure, uninterrupted and joyful interaction with your laptop, Macs are just... better.

    • @@GenghisKhanPolitics smoother window experience? This is why this test is odd. Windows has so many options available for whatever "windows experience" you're looking for. For example: You're a gamer - you go with a more gaming focused option. Mac has...1 option. The Mac. Not to discredit it as it is a great computer in itself, but you are kinda pigeonholed to 1 option. The Dell is something I would never choose as my option, and others might. I use a MacBook every single day for work (music engineering) and can say when it comes to fun and joy out of my computer, that's typically from my PC, not my Mac

    • MacOS has a wonderful thing called SIP (System Integrity Protection). All system files are on a read only partition and cannot be modified. Not even by root. So your system will likely never become corrupt. Malware Bytes can removed the vast majority of malware on MacOS. And by default, MacOS won't even open an application if it isn't signed by Apple. And if you want to bypass that, the OS will still complain until you right-click and then click Open on the application. And on top of all this, if software wants to gain access to your files, you have to explicitly allow it. In Photoshop, if I save a file to a folder, then I get a pop up from the OS saying "Photoshop wants access to XYZ Folder, allow/deny". All of this is of course moot if someone finds a kernel level exploit, or some kind of exploit in the OS to gain system rights. Although, again, Apple has auto-patching of the system if they gain wind of an exploit like this. Once a fix is made, your machine will be patched right away, making you safe from it.

  • I think you missed an extremely important point here, which is upgradability. I replaced the battery on my 5 year old Dell XPS 15, and it is basically all new. If you are someone who likes some tinkering, you can also upgrade the ram, ssd, wifi card, do repasting and undervolting. I did all that in addition to switching to a linux operating system, and my laptop is performing much better than a new/stock laptop. Edit: Some have pointed out that you can also upgrade on a MacBook, and you are absolutely right! Though for my XPS 15 and other Windows laptops, switching batteries is very simple and I paid about 60€ for a 97Wh battery. Another point is also that you can set the charging limit to say 75% which preserves its life expectancy even more. I am not sure if it is possible on a Mac though.. At the end of the day I think both laptops are amazing, it just depends on what you value more :)

Sadly many people just abuse them and think they will last forever and then start whining when they don't.

Apple is soldering SSDs and locking sensors and doing all kinds of shenanigans which make repairs either a nightmare, or so cost prohibitive that buying a replacement becomes a viable option. Perhaps not very important for those who can afford to buy two $1600 laptops, but most consumers don't have that kind of money, and people often tend to go over-budget with laptops because "Its an investment, it will last many years".

RAM and storage are the only negatives and these don't actually increase performance which is needed as tasks get more demanding. On desktops, yes, full win. To start, the number of options you have when buying a laptop means that, like android, you can get a device better suited for you. Additionally, you don't even have to use Windows on said laptop. Linux can get you that same level of integration that you might find on Mac, but will run faster and look better without needing to use the command line. Also, windows laptops have MUCH better upgradeability/repairability. If you really wanted to, you could buy a framework and swap out every single part, or even just a normal device and upgrade ram and ssd.

  • Honestly, the Mac vs Windows laptop depends a lot of type of workflow. By that i mean that if your work usually involves the same general task, with very minimal or no need for alternative software in the future, then if mac has it and you are already in the ecosystem, the discussion is practically over. However, when you have a workflow that involves a lot of new tools and experimenting constantly, you'd want that assured compatibility that windows offers, so you don't one day find out it doesn't work on your mac. That being said, I can't help but notice that you pitch this comparison for editing purposes, but then pivot to analyze stuff that's not really related to that, like the webcam. So you keep alternating between a pro user view and average joe one. And on that point, i find this comparison to have an Identity crisis, cause you're essentially comparing a device that has both its hardware and software from the same source to another where the OS is from Microsoft but the hardware is from Dell. And then bring up points of optimisation of OS on said device. I get the intention, but at this point you're not really genuinely comparing the devices themselves, but stating the obvious, that something will be more optimised if done by the same people. In all honesty, i feel this should have been with a Mac OS vs Windows comparison, analyzing the actual systems alone, OR have the Mac go against, at the very least, a Microsoft laptop, to at least have the possibility of comparing from the same starting line (referring to OS and Hardware being handled by same entity). I usually love your style of focusing on user experience a lot in your videos, but i feel that benefits more phones, where UX is arguably the biggest part of it. Because when it comes to laptops or computers in general, UX takes a step back for anyone who plans to use them for more than just the average office suite apps and net browsing, as at that point it's less about the UX of laptop itself and more about the capabilities of said apps. What i mean is, essentially, that you can't compare laptops in the same way you do phones, simply stating surface level stuff regarding the spec sheet and then just UX. Stuff like thermals, upgradability, none of which were addressed, are important. Now I don't mean nor want/expect you to go full Linus Tech Tips on analysing individual components. That's not my point. But things like: -presenting just one benchmark alone in regards to overall performance, when there's cases of some being overly optimised for Intel architecture, therefore may seem unfair to the Mac. (It can even be unfair for windows with an AMD CPU) - 0 mention of thermals, which is, arguably, one of the most important points for a laptop as that determines whether you'll even be able to use your system regardless of how optimised it is. I think this matters more than how loud or silent it is. -if we're talking video editing, actual export times Lack of these in a laptop match-up, even for general users, it makes it seem disingenuous in both directions, and I know you're not that kind of tech reviewer. Naturally, they'll attract people beyond the 'general user' group as well, that's a given. It's just that I felt he tried too much to apply the strategy of reviewing one product category to another without really taking into account that they require entirely different standards. In the sense that the average user of a laptop is way more technologically apt, and therefore has expectations of things beyond looking and feeling nice, than the average user for a phone, simply due to the more complex nature of a laptop. In a more extrapolate sense, it'd be like if JerryRigEverything, who started making videos related to cars here and there would go and test the durability of a screen the car has in the center console, to see how it scratches, for example, cause he does that for phones. It's not as relevant in the grand scheme of things. For example, Framework Laptops have a modular design that allows for individual components to be upgraded, such as RAM, storage, and even the CPU. This feature extends the lifespan of the laptop and keeps it current with the latest technology, giving it an advantage over Macs which are notoriously difficult to upgrade. In addition to its modular design, Framework is dedicated to sustainability and reducing electronic waste. They also offer a transparent supply chain, which is uncommon in the tech industry. • Macs are the Louis Vuitton of the laptop world, whereas Windows PCs are the Samsonites. One is almost a fashion accessory whereas the other is just a solid all-arounder. For those who want to do content creation, the Mac will come out slightly ahead, but for all other uses: the Windows-based PCs will always outperform it. Also, if one wanted a more content-creative platform with the Windows PC, one could always download a Linux OS for that purpose on a dual-boot basis, allowing for more customization and usability. And if one is not using the laptop for content creation but more for engineering or accounting purposes, then the Windows-based computer reigns supreme as it allows for a Numeric Keypad on the side, which in my opinion is a godsend to have. While I can type at over 70 words a minute, having the numeric keypad on the side is definitely a better situation to have. One is for general use with a specialization in content creation, while the other is also for general-purpose use with a specialization in just about everything else and can be customized with other OS systems on a dual-boot setup to handle content creation as well, allowing one to switch back and forth as needed. If the Macbook were to have a Numeric Keypad similar to how Asus has incorporated this on the trackpad for those who need the speedier ability to input a larger amount of calculations, then the Apple laptop could garner a wider appeal. As for security, malware and hackers are targeting Apple products more than ever before and thus it is always recommended to have an active security app running in the background just to be on the safe side and for peace of mind. As I said earlier, Apple MacBook is the Louis Vuitton of the PC world and Windows is the Samsonite of the same. I chose the Samsonite over the fashion accessory every time for overall useability. It's difficult to choose which will fit you best honestly, so I'd suggest taking either for a test drive for a week by borrowing a friend or family members devices. If you were to go the whole windows root, I'd also suggest looking at something like a framework laptop, which is completely upgradable making it way more relevant for the future and they're newer models start at around $1300 with enough room to buy extra port modules.

It’s now comic sans which is more of a meme font, whereas it used to stand out in the video, be more aesthetically pleasing colour wise and use plain white translucent for the meme text There’s also a couple of odd transitions like the star one towards the start of the video. There’s also not much visual stuff, it’s more minimalist, removing the counter and timer. When showcasing the editing at around the 14 minute mark, there were some odd choices, the pixelation and an odd clip of a frame at 14:53, just looked a bit strange to me, especially with the gradient on the side At 0:24 the invisibility thing didn’t work at all imo, it looked a bit clunky, given the screen on the plate shot didn’t match the colour and the shoulder is still visible. Also didn’t really see the point of that. Whereas with Apple, it's always a gamble and most of the time, I would have to install a specific programme on each device to allow data transfer, have a specific adapter which may not even work and be prepared to not be able to execute the programme. • The speaker comparison, IMO, was not a fair one since another youtuber's speaker comparison, Max Tech, had the speakers play music, in which the XPS absolutely smokes the m2 air, but in this case, it was only the voice, and the MaxxAudio application on the XPS would have allowed for the tuning of the speakers, and it may have interfered with the audio test.

  • My last MacBook was the MacBook Pro 15" 2015 which is still going strong today. The problem with the latest MacBook is the non replaceable SSD, which made me thinking of buying Dell XPS 15 with its dual slot NVME and replaceable RAM. The service manual is also provided by Dell themselves which I think good for the longevity of the product. Great video btw, but I think repairability is also an important aspect to be covered especially if you plan to use the device for a long time.

  • Since 2018 I have been using both a windows and Mac laptop. In my experience mac became slower quicker and is a lot more difficult to use day to day. Battery life was similar with about 6 hours of usage. I also prefer the keyboards and trackpads on windows laptops, Mac’s don’t seem to register some of the keys I press if I type quickly. Also apps seem to work more fluently on windows.

  • File fragmentation happens no matter if you are on Mac or Windows, and it's only an issue with the old school HDD. One should not, I repeat, !SHOULD NOT! defrag a SSD. They wont run faster, it only make the SSD lifespan shorter. No hate but Mrwhosetheboss often get alot of PC and hardware info wrong.

I don't consider myself to be a technically challenged person, but I continuously struggled with Mac OS. Basic things used to take me much longer to locate in the Mac maze. On the other hand, I find Windows to be much more logical and easier to navigate even for a layman!!

  • This became really disingenuous really quickly, IMO. The first few categories, focusing on how things "feel," are incredibly subjective and could be seen mostly as a draw depending on who you ask. On the Mac side, yes, the display is a leg up because of its variable resolution. But some of these categories are just straight up irrelevant when you consider that this laptop in particular is being used for: as an editing machine. So the webcam, for example, is gonna be moot (and again, it's another subjective thing because I personally have no idea what color differences you were talking about between the two; one just looked slightly darker). The speakers also are irrelevant because if you are editing, it's likely you are using studio headphones to fully capture the nuances of the sound. And then every time you pivoted toward the user experience, the argument was "Apple is great if you lock yourself into their ecosystem; Windows's software diversity is their greatest weakness." It's not only disingenuous, it's outright antithetical to the idea of having an open computing ecosystem. Regardless of if you get a Windows OR Mac device, odds are you will not be using in-house software for your editing. While I personally use MS Clipchamp for my video editing (it's free and I'm still a novice), most professionals will use Adobe Premiere. And for audio, most people use Audacity - at all skill levels because it is just that good of software. Hell, the icon was literally on the Windows desktop screen in your video. And finally, the whole bit with the MS subscribers vs. Apple subscribers was really pointless and establishes nothing. Again, it just plays into the culture of Apple being a status symbol in the eyes of most people. I could go on, but honestly, the Mac vs. PC thing has been a 20 year argument now and it feels more like the Mac side is the one pushing it now to stay relevant. I am usually a fan of your videos, but this is really pushing the wrong narrative. If you are genuinely going to start championing the walled garden, it really goes against some of your former opinions in a major way.

Worse than being bias, he sometimes just don't know what he's talking about (and I watch a lot of his videos). His videos have good entertainment value but that's about it, and that's why he's popular. Just ask yourself why does he feel the need to make a video on Mac vs Windows, the definition of clickbait subject, and a very tiring and boring one. Oh and I'm saying this as a Mac user.

    • This feels like you are just trying to find things to be upset about, and so it doesn't really feel credible. The webcam example you brought up is literally so clear which one is better. The mac has more accurate colors and is a lot sharper and clearer. Saying that you can't see the issue they are talking about is overlooking for the sake of trying to be right, and actually makes you feel disingenuous as well. It also feels like you aren't taking into context for the argument around performance and Apple's own apps vs Windows variety of 3rd party apps. Apple can prioritize its own apps for its own small amount of computers to outperform everything else, while Microsoft can't really do that because of the huge variety of machines the apps will be installed on. It's a great asset to have such a variety of programs on windows, but for app performance, Apple can prioritize to a much more detailed degree. And finally, it's weird to be upset about the subscriber bit, because it's just that, a bit for a joke. It's a running joke, for this channel to try and beat Apple in subscriber count, so that was the segue into making that joke. Your opinions are valid, but they also seem forced and finding arguments where there really aren't any.

Final Cut Pro doesn't have a lot of features compared to DaVinci Resolve and Premiere Pro but it is fast and efficient. For content creators like KZheadrs, Final Cut Pro is a really good choice when you are necessarily making Hollywood films but simple 10-minute videos or even shorts while still looking "pro"
