AFTER 13 YEARS... I finally tried an Apple iPhone 15 Pro.

I finally tried an iPhone. Does Apple beat android for me personally? Get a Teardown skin for your own phone HERE: www.dbrand.com/teardown I've been an Android user for 13 years. But the new Titanium Apple iPhone tempted me enough to try it out. For over 100 days I gave the iPhone a solid shot at becoming my new daily driver. But... well... I don't thing the iPhone is built for me. There are a few features on Android that I just cannot live without.
Its ok though Apple... we can still be friends.

    • @@erice3525 yeah, his main reason for going back to Samsung was that his phone is a tool and he just wants to get stuff done with it. Ironically that is the same reason I got my first iPhone in 2020 and never went back. I loved Android when I was younger and had time to fiddle with everything, even using custom ROMs. But now that I am busy with life, I have found the stability and "it just works" nature of Apple to be way more efficient. He was right about the ecosystem statement. A few months after I got an iPhone, I got my first MacBook, then my first Apple Watch. Every piece I added, further organized and made things efficient for me. Now I have the complete ecosystem, and for better or worse, I am locked in. I have thought about checking out new Android phones, but then I remember how much there is to lose going that route and how much time I wasted fumbling around between Android and Windows trying to get stuff done. Before I made the switch, I had tried going all in on Google's ecosystem to make things simpler, but ChromeOS just wasn't able to handle my needs and at the time there were lots of other holes in their ecosystem where they really didn't have a reliable hardware or software solutions. So then I went all in on Samsung, but found that Samsung Android devices and Samsung Windows devices hardly play together at all, and it's more a test of your patients than anything, as well as the fact that Samsung's Android is super bloated, and every time I tried doing something new on the phone, I found myself singing my life away on user agreements to not only Google, but also Samsung, as well as having a bunch of duplicate apps preinstalled (one from Samsung and one from Google), even duplicate app markets. So basically I was a life long Windows user, starting from Windows 95 and used Android since 2009, and I had to be dragged kicking and screaming into Apple world. When I got up and walked around for a while though, I actually think the grass is greener on the other side. But thats not true for everyone, so it really is a personal opinion on just about everything.

    @MrMoogle@MrMoogle2 ай бұрын
    • That's one big problem I've had with iPhone users is that they are so used to putting up with the BS that they don't even realize that it's BS most of the time. When I asked my co-worker why I couldn't just select the middle of a word I had typed on the screen, their response was " Why would you even want to do that??" Then they told me to just select the space in between The word I wanted to change and the word in front of it, completely backspace away the word I want to change one letter of and retype it. The craziest part has been asking people who have used iPhones their entire lives how to do simple things like this, save themselves don't even know that apple has made a way to do it, but has just made it very inaccessible and counterintuitive. I guess that when people first get their iPhones, just as I did, they try to do things and are told over and over that that's just not even an option on an iPhone and to just suck it up and do it how Apple wants them too, So when they run into problems that do actually have an Apple work around, they assume they don't and just make do the best that they possibly can. Shout out to my boyfriend who's never had anything but iPhone and told me there was no way to go back except for a few apps. He told me He's just been closing out of anything without a back button at the top and reopening the app to get back to the apps home screen. I think people think iPhones are simpler and more efficient because when you run into a issue, they're just is no solution, whereas with Android when you run into a problem, there are usually 18 different solutions with their own different pros and cons and customizations. I can understand how a lot of people, especially older people, might get overwhelmed with having the options to customize their phones to best suit them instead of the other way around, but that's why there are default settings to begin with.

Almost every problem, except scheduled massages and the green blue thing, isn’t really a problem, he just uses it wrong. For example, the example everyone seems to be obsessed with the most, selecting in the middle of a word actually works pretty easy. Pressing space long, and then using it like a curser. It still opens the whole thing but atleast its faster. 4:45 You can hold the wifi icon to expand it and press "open wifi settings" or "open bluetooth settings". Still takes a lot of clicks but atleast you dont have to search for the app. 6:16 You can press the spacebar and the keyboard will turn itu a trackpad, its actually much more convenient and accurate imo because i have fat fingers 8:48 You can hold the notification to show the full message or email or whatever it is without reading it. This works with other messaging apps and its pretty useful. You can even open chats without reading them by long pressing. You can quickly open websites, enlarge images, read something quickly, etc. Holding something on the iphone does a lot. Overall, this is a great video explaining the good stuff that apple got right, their stupid quirks, and amazing android features that us iphone users probably have to wait a decade to get implemented lmao. • Regarding some of your iPhone shortcomings (coming from an Android user who also has an iPhone on the side): - You can pin the Settings app to your dock (like I do) or any of your home screens. - A widget that shows the date (like the Calendar widget) pinned to the home screen will keep the date a home screen swipe away at all times. This is honestly the better way of doing it on Android as well (I use Samsung Weather but Weawow is also good) - Setting the alarm via the Sleep settings helps you visualize exactly for how long you will sleep every time you set an alarm, as it shows both the wakeup time and the sleep duration - Regarding the "unread" thing with Gmail, I don't use gmail (I use Outlook) but I'm pretty sure you can use swipe gestures on your inbox to quickly mark items as unread. There should be an option in the Gmail settings to customize the swipe actions.

I often find myself in the same situation, where it's late at night and want to send a message to someone, but it's way too late and it could wake them up, or it's simply something that can wait until the morning. What I have to do is copy the link or type the message to them, and then leave it there so I can send it in the morning (if I remember). That's not ideal, I agree. • I respect your opinion, and it was nice to see a more level headed evaluation rather than bashing. I’ll point out that iPhone can do most of the things you want if you know how - even the text scheduling, though it requires setting up a shortcut so not as built in or intuitive. You can mark emails as unread in a couple ways including quickly swiping right and you can long press on any email to get a full preview like you want. My swipe down shows the date at top so maybe I have a setting I didn’t realize I turned on. Also, if you had the calendar app or a widget you wouldn’t even need to swipe down at all. The green bubbles are nice to know when I’ve lost internet connection or my friends phone must be off or not connected to the internet. It’s a quick visual indicator I’ve come to rely on. Getting to a point in text when holding can be done on the spacebar as well and when that’s your plan it’s very fast and more reliable than tapping where you want. I suppose it’s more about what we’re all used to. If I tried to use android for 100 days I’d have a similar if not longer list than yours. • 06:14 holding down the space bar key changes the keyboard into a cursor and you can very quickly and accurately move wherever you want or select words (by tapping with a second finger and dragging with the first one). i find this easier because you don′t have to move your fingers where the text is at which might be at the top of the screen but you get to keep them at the keyboard where they are anyways

    • That is not gonna be good enough if you've typed a whole paragraph in say a notes app and want to correct a letter in a word at the beginning of your paragraph. It is much faster to just tap near the letter and have your cursor appear there on Android vs doing the whole hold and drag business up the whole paragraph you just mentioned or the tap near the word and then drag that Zach mentioned. More time spent doing the same thing was Zach's whole point here.

    • This is paradoxically only true for iPhone. Macs are incredibly customizable. There is an entire ecosystem of homebrew for macos to make it into an essentially very custom os. You have access to all sorts of parameters through the command line like on windows but Mac almost embraces it where windows is much less happy and fiddly with installing apps that alter how the os is used.

  • Been an android user ever since android exists. And one of the biggest show stopper for me is the lack of system wide gestures. My Pixel doesn't have a physical back button but, ever since they've integrated back gesture on android, this has been a game changer for me. My wife has an iPhone and yes, you can go back by swiping from most of Apple's apps but not all of them. Being in 2024 and still having to reach at the top left hand corner to hit a button seems ridiculous.

    • @@scottwilkins I think you missed the point. Using a phone for 100 days is a good grip on how well it is, compared to most reviews that are 1 week. He also didn't claim its a review, just his opinion. a lot of these reason I can agree with are annoying. I personally want swiftness and concistantcy and don't care as much about what color my messages are since android allows you to choose any color. things like this doesn't matter day to day. The only 2 features I would possibly want from phones are imessage, and facetime. What features do Iphones do better then android? 1.Cameras are subjective and per user opinion, as many android phones have been more voted on in a blind test. 2.Most people who say they want imessage on android is only because apple wont allow their custom rcs to be public, and overall imessage does nothing better compared to android messaging apps like textra. 3.All phones seem over all fast, and realistically with newer phones we are talking about 1 second differences in speed, not to mention people don't need a ps5 power level in their pocket. 4.Plenty of android phones focus on insain battery life. Apple doesn't make bad phones by any means, but I see no real reason for them to be popular outside of social static. They don't value cutting end tech as all new features they have added have been focus on other android phone features.
