It doesn’t take thousands of dollars actually. The biggest cost involved in building these is getting the raw materials like the phone housing, the battery, the motherboard etc. even all of them combined it’s no more than 50-60 bucks. And mimicking the software is a piece of cake with an android skin. Any body with a little knowledge of OSs can easily make a 1-1 copy overnight.

Android AOSP is free - all the core functionality like camera drivers, browser, display drivers etc everything is already built. All you need to do is change the theme. It’s as simple as changing a wallpaper. If you haven’t heard of Xiaomi, check them out. Their MIUI is based on android and looks like a copy of iOS. And it’s free! There is a theme store baked in MIUI, all you need to do is apply an iOS theme. You get everything, control center, icons, animations everything
When the fake iPhone makers take feedback more seriously than the real iPhone makers.

But what is so crazy about it? They probably produce fakes just 2 streets away from the "real" factory. Like people are shocked by fake brand clothes. Like wtf do you mean, it's both made in Vietnam, just in a different basement. If that. Probably the same basement, different rooms. I'm not comparing clothes with electronics, but the idea is the same. Everyone is praising the iPhone and some other stuff as if it's like an artifact from another world. Yeah, maybe the chipset and cameras - that's advanced, but still is produced by Taiwan and China and is available to everyone else. Everything else in that phone is as simple as peanut.

I work at a repair shop and very rarely do we see fake phones, the few I’ve seen were iPhone 14 Pro Max and an s22 ultra

Ex: motherboard if similar to flex cable ends but just anything that would enhance it if you already had it lying around. Just to see a way to get as close as a 15 if you had other parts from whatever it’s compatible with

I regard myself as a person with technical skills and would not recognize it as a fake. I would probably get suspicious only once the FaceID failed. But it is possible, that they recreated the FaceID setup so it might get unnoticed - and later they could simply go with 2D face recognition, which would more or less work.

Android, typically either android 6, 7 or even 10 if it has a decent cpu. No, no fake will get updates. It should have access to any store a normal android phone has, as long as it has google play services, otherwise you can download apps from a lot of websites.

I suspect that this phone isn’t even a scam, many people in China buy things knowing full well that they’re fake, manufacturers sometimes even straight up tell you it’s an imitation. A lot of people are poor and iPhones are a status symbol, while others just like the look of the phone but don’t really care about specs.

He made no mention that the storage and ram are often 10 times less than what the real phone has on fake phones, even if the phone reports the proper ammount on the settings(software trick) also speaking about software a fake apple phone will have android on it disguised as apple os, so at that point it's not even close to being similar. Also on fake apple phones the display panel & camera are junk in quality and color reproduction compared to a real apple phone. In short it really does matter. Oh one more thing about fake phones, they load spy scam and phishing software on them right at the factory, no need to accidentally download these yourself.

What’s sad is apple making barely better devices in sweat factories and selling them for $1,100 more. I have a 15pm, it’s a good phone but not $1,300 good.
I am convinced that, as is often the case, our Chinese friends somehow managed to get their hands on the CAD files for the iPhone 15 housing. Otherwise, achieving such remarkable precision in replication would be implausible. The remaining features seem relatively easy to emulate from a software standpoint. I remember an interview many years ago with a German manager from Transrapid team, discussing the relocation of research&production from Germany to China. He described how Chinese individuals, discreetly "working" after hours, navigated through the production halls and offices with flashlights, meticulously copying all the technological details. A few years later, China proudly unveiled the world's first officially recognized magnetic train connection. I've heard that in Chinese culture, it is considered an honor for the master to be imitated by their students. Therefore, they obviously think piracy is a nice gesture and copy rights are rude!!! It's not a bug, it's a feature 😂😂😂
They almost certainly do, if I had to guess, its a case manufacturer that has an 'in' with one of these companies. They get the iPhone shell CAD files for case production, so it wouldn't be unheard of for them to sell those.

I heard this company that does this is in South east asia. I heard it’s either Malaysia or Thailand. You can e en buy parts from them too. There are you tube channels in that area that repair them. People taking an iPhone 10 to 12 and making it an iPhone 15. So they are doing this daily.
