Either way, but for me, it's Westbound. I live in outer East PDX, so, yes, Washington County seems pretty freaking fancy to me-- especially Beaverton, Tigard, and Hillsboro.

In some cities, like Phoenix, that actually makes a lot of sense, because it's all Maricopa County and you have to drive everywhere to get anywhere. In places like Portland and Seattle, they have a couple of major suburbs where the experience of living there is incredibly different than living in the actual city. There's only one freeway that takes you into Beaverton from Portland, and it goes right under Washington Park in what are called the West Hills. It always is a strange experience to go through the tunnel, because you feel for a couple of minutes like you went from literal downtown to driving through a forest for a few minutes. The East and West sides of town are also laid out incredibly differently. The East side is a grid, but because of the hills, the West side meanders around and once you get West of downtown, hardly any of the avenues are numbered and none of the streets that go East to West have the same names as the streets on the Eastside. So, the experience of going to a side of town that you don't live in is particularly surreal.
