Times in which you could enjoy battles like the one in the video.

Jerónimo Rodríguez in what universe R25 and R26 were "inferior" to any other car? The R25 had a clear edge on the MP4/20 as a championship contender due to reliability. The R26 and the 2006 Ferrari were very even over the course of the full season, the Renault starting much better and the Ferrari ending the season stronger.

The 2000s was Schumi's decade but I gotta say that Renault in those times was bringing a lot of heat to Ferrari, very fierce and stable cars, never a dull moment, always at the forefront of competition. Alonso took the best of those blue and yellow babes back in the day.

The exit Schumacher gets out of the last corner of the last lap is unreal. If only he had done that on a prior lap.
@Matkins852 жыл бұрын
No. That was just like his previous laps. The difference was Alonso's defensive line at the last corner. He closed the inside line just in case Schumacher dives down there at the last second. While doing that he had understeer. And when he opened the throttle to the line he had oversteer. So it was a messy last corner from Alonso just for closing the inside line at the last seconds of the GP.

@@28erny but yeah Alonso has always been insanely talented and skilled, and maybe even more than drives who won more than him
@Eliras243 жыл бұрын
@@28erny Well man, all interesting and Alonso was amazing, but he couldn't win in Ferrari where he should've, and also for his mistakes. In team sports, and ESPECIALLY F1, the ability to create good relationships with the team is fundamental. As to perform under pressure. Fernando did mistakes in Suzuka with Ferrari, after that incident in Spa (that wasn't his fault), that costed him the championship (25 points). As in the end of that year he played a very poor race while Vettel came back from falling in the end of the pack after a spin at the fist turn of the race. Fernando was special, but not THAT special. He lacked in focus when mattered most, in his later years, as in his duel with Hamilton in McLaren. And those are just other facts, not debatable at all, as yours. He had unparalleled talent, and probably so much that he couldn't relate to normal or mediocre human beings. Briatore proved to be the best team leader for Alonso as he could be the means between Alonso and the team. When he lost Briatore, he could never get in touch with the team again, and he found himself unable to win again. Is a coincidence that those stuff coincided with his departure with Briatore? I don't know, i just find his attitude was what drove him to be the best, from the skill standpoint, but the worse from the team relationship standpoint, and that in F1 counts, for strategies to be effective, and for the car development. Schumi was the best not because he was the fastest, but because he was not the best in anything but just amazing in everything. What Fernando wasn't. And you can argue, but there's a reason why Fernando didn't win that much. And i've asked myself too, as, by a Ferrari tifoso, i really loved Fernando and his drive style. And respected a lot him for what he did when won with Benetton Renault. But for that same reason i asked myself why then he didn't win as much as others. And that was the conclusion i could end up with. Because for which other reasons. Is known that many hated Alonso for his attitude, mostly probably in the McLaren, if you remember what happened in the team

That's the reason the blue car is taking the corners that way. 🍩

I think it has to do with the loss of grip when driving behind another car in a fast corner. Could be the tires or gear ratios like another commenter suggested, but I think it's more about losing the grip when driving too close behind another car in fast corners, so you back of slightly instead of staying too close and then going too wide. F1 at that time was notorious for making it super difficult for drivers to make overtaking attempts. That's why overtakes from the past are more valued. Driver had to show real skill to find a way to stay close to the car in front and perform an overtake.

@@28erny but yeah Alonso has always been insanely talented and skilled, and maybe even more than drives who won more than him
@@28erny Well man, all interesting and Alonso was amazing, but he couldn't win in Ferrari where he should've, and also for his mistakes.

Nikki Lauda
Alain Prost
Maldonado is the best :)
i am the best.
Alonso’s car just faster through triple left apex section
Alonso is probably the best F1 driver in modern times. Although his number of championship's doesn't reflect that, he spent a lot of time in cars that weren't competitive. When in a competitive car he was unbeatable. He also proved he can drive and win in other motorsports and not just F1.
He had a great car in 2010 though
@@mattylatvala43 And he was beaten that year? Hmmmmm?

Yes these 3 turns made the difference. Schumacher understood his mistake and how to pass it faster by gearing down before the left turn. But he realised it 2 laps from the finish and it wasnt enough.
@@user-rg9wp2fy7m yes! I'm.tired telling people that. Shummi wasn't giving the 130 % of the car as Alonso did
Brilliant drive by both ..
The one battle I keep rewatching again and again and again... Never gets old.
Just imagine if Schumi was driving with fastest cars then as Hamilton now. He would have at least 10 titles. It is the brilliance of knowing how to beat faster cars. That makes Schumi the best of all time.
Senna
Talking about winning with slower cars…….Senna
Yeh , he was in a class of his own , senna to though
@@rocksnmortarlb8907 Oh really? When did that happen? Senna "won" 3 titles with McLaren, wich between 1988 and 1991 was the best car on the grid.
@@livingbeing1113 he really should've won 1988.. After Japan 1990, he should've been booted from F1 and had his points deleted

I Miss this sound!!
yeah....me too. Those wonderfull engines makes me smile like an infant.
Amazing onboard, thanks for sharing 🙏🙏🙏

Man, Alonzo is fast.
Fast? Beating the best ever with 19 . With worse car. People you don't know a damm about motor
That renualt v10 was the engine that put out the most torque of anything on the grid that year. It had a 0 - 125 time faster than any other car in competition. Thats why he's so fast out of the corners
@@natebrubaker3269 Renault's car faster than the Ferrari? Jajajajajajaja . Man ride your ponny
@@28erny did I mention a ferrari anywhere in my previous comment you donut
@@natebrubaker3269 just to make sure you understand it. .. There are two cars. The red One is faster that the other. There are two drivers. The Spanish One is faster than the other. So far. Uncomparable. You said that the reason that the faster driver is taking the corners with that speed is because the car... Wow. His teammate was a very good driver... Schumacher was good too.and with a better car and can't take any corner like Alonso does. No matter the car they drive. Alonso is tones times faster than Schumacher, so far. That's the reason the blue car is taking the corners that way. 🍩
Both Really good drivers, hope to see something like that these days
The sound/scream of a V 10 is just incredible!!! You also see the strength and weaknesses for both Cars on different parts of the track. Just beautiful.
V8
You are right, 2006 was the first year of the V8.
thank you so much for this
Looking at this now, I can consider myself lucky enough to have seen all these great battles and some live gp. Best time ever. Forza Ferrari e forza Schumi! ❤️🇮🇹
This is amazing! Also, the fact that Felipe Massa still had +7 seconds on Alonso is impressive as well
Blv or not massa was better than sumi or Alonso before his head crash
Ferrari was Ferrari, the golden era of Ferrari
Massa always loved Istanbul. I'm sure when F1 turned back to Istanbul in 2020's, eyes searched for him...
For me Alonso reached Sena's level, and i watched Sena driving.
Also both charismatics drivers in different ways. The best of each era.
When the batteries were only in the flashlight!!!!
The best thing is,this was the time when renault had an average car and ferrari was on his prime and still alonso smoked the shit out of that ferrari, this is what makes him a great driver,a good driver can drive any good car and win,but the great will win even with worst car
The Renault at Turn 8 was flying!
turbulence effect only
Just couldn't hang with Alonso in turn 8
I think it has to do with the loss of grip when driving behind another car in a fast corner. Could be the tires or gear ratios like another commenter suggested, but I think it's more about losing the grip when driving too close behind another car in fast corners, so you back of slightly instead of staying too close and then going too wide. F1 at that time was notorious for making it super difficult for drivers to make overtaking attempts. That's why overtakes from the past are more valued. Driver had to show real skill to find a way to stay close to the car in front and perform an overtake.
Man that renault was a wild beast. That engine sound was like listening to a good classical song from Beethoven. Schumi was the Jordan of F1 period.
Incredible lack of downforce in turn 8 following closely the car in front, Schumi was faster in every other corner

The traction from the Renault from 2003 to 2006 was legendary. It always took off like a rocket from the start and always made more powerful cars in slow corners look pedestrian
F1 owes Turkey a GP. Hell of a track. Stood up and resurfaced when asked to by the FIA on short notice with their own money. It’s not like they’re in Western Europe with multiple categories renting the track each weekend. Give something back to the fans of Istanbul
hell of a point mate. you're right
First impressions: I'm a permanent fan of M.S., and he is the GOAT, but this video undisputably shows you that Alonso is indeed very, very good.

Incrível. São ótimos pilotos.
2 real legends

@@BorisNS90 lol ok bud
@@bZLxcz In the 19yrs that Schumacher raced for, he was achieving more than Ayrton Senna did in his 10yrs. Double Sennas achievements and he would fall short of Schumacher. Not to mention Senna was a mental mess just before he died, something Schumacher never was! It would have only gotten worse for him. Schumacher was coming at him, and Senna knew it. He can't be called the best, he did not get the chance to retire and therefore no-one knows how good he may have become, or not! Retirement was not to far away for him anyway. Doubtful that he could have achieved what Schumacher did. Senna was always looking for the best car, not Schumacher, he would pick the worst teams and through sheer dedication bring them on to the top. Another thing Senna did not do! Senna was good, but not the best, 19yrs of Schumacher proves that!

I remember that season. The Renault had better aero, but less power.
mworld magnussen
Not only that. Michelins were better in the first few races but from late June onwards Bridgestone was hands down the better rubber. Also most cars had the mass damper but Renault's was very efficient. The FIA banned them in-season so Schumi could retire with an 8th but he was unlucky with engine failure at the end.
@@ignitione Confident bullshitting, you clearly live in a false universe. lol
@@ignitione How tf does FIA want to help Schumi when they just screwed him and Ferrari the year previously??
@@stepladder3257 how tf? You a fanboy or what. Alonso got penalized 5 places at Monza for blocking Massa when he was over 100 meters ahead. They banned the mass damper mid season because Renault was winning too much. A number of strange things happened. How tf did they screw Schumi the year before? Didn't Ferrari screw themselves for nor developing a good car and Bridgestone failing with those tyres? Why did FIA remove the 2005 rules after only 1 year? To help somebody maybe? Hmmm
I love this engine sound
