No DRS, no stupid batteries, no overweight cars, no buttons to get extra power, just pure power from petrol and small screaming cars running around - that's how it should be and it once was, but not today
Boohoo
@@aaronvanderhorst6773 Nah, he's right. F1 now s*cks in every single way.
As much as the DRS makes overtakes way too easy and takes away that little bit of unpredictability that could be left in a race today (e.g. a dominant car stuck, somehow, at the back of the field will have absolutely ZERO issues blasting past everyone), it also has to be said that races of that era were almost NEVER like this one. Most of the times, races would be processional without any overtakes attempted and just "waiting for the pitstops"; a slow car with a low enough wing and a powerful engine was able to keep a train of faster cars behind it until the pitstops just by virtue of being faster on the straights (see the "Force India train" meme that emerged about a decade later). In this case, we had a combination of a mixed up grid due to rain in qualifying and Ferrari having a spectacular strategic vision (yes, they were good back then, I know, sounds kinda unbeliveable looking at what they do nowadays...) , setting their car up with lower downforce and a lighter fuel load to be able to overtake and build a lead in the race.
Exactly,the real drivers
That was F1!!! Today is a tear
These two had some fantastic battles - Just pure driving - But they alwayts had tremendous respect for each other - I miss F1 back then
Man all those names, nostalgia overload 😢
I agree. This was my favorite Era of F1. Now days it feels like all the drivers are just some billionaires kid. Really not enjoying the drivers of today. Still love ferrari and always will though.
no battery no DRS , this is REAL EPIC BATTLE
🤙
Is that why it was so boring. 8 mins and nothing happened.
Michael is so aggressive with the car, it twitches so much during turn 3 and you can see him sliding about in some corners, such an interesting style.
Schumacher style was really really spectacular, i am so happy i was able to see him racing
I totally miss the sound of those screaming V10s
Back when formula 1 was a true sport not like today
what does that even mean
@@MrSkeleton131 it means Formula 1 now is TRASH. And if you enjoy it you must not be old enough to appreciate what F1 used to be ya numpty.

Ah the nostalgia! The menu items were so simple. Just the positions, the names and the time between them. The resolution was made for CRT TV’s. It’s like watching a PS2 game.
I really miss this era so much, the battle back then is so epic,i used to be fanatic F1 fans 13 years ago during my school era,F1 today personally no longer my liking
Schumi 2 pit stop. Hakkinen 1 pit stop. In this race...
Battle of legend
Murray walker a legend always missed
Unrelated, but check out the obviously auto-generated chapters in this video. The AI just picks up any kind of random text and makes it the chapter title.
I like watching F1 racing NO DRS KERS
Austria my favorite raceway
Good old racing days.
See 01:40 , this what i like better with 80 - 90s f1 compared to today. Track punishing the driver errors by itself. No need for this track limits stupidity.
Martin brundle was the apprentice then
Schumacher is the best of history because he did fight against best machines. And make a lose car to be a win car. Michael was different driver, he was a team-maker, developer win machines
Slipstreaming, late braking, no DRS, pure racing
This time i 18 year old,year 2002, I work Sepang circuit malaysia.
Two brilliant drivers and better cars then than the electronic crap now
When watching Formula 1 it's not boring
What happened to Coulthard?
Looking at such clips I would start smoking right away said no one ever
The days of the berillium engine...
Schumacher the GOAT.
Mika Halkkinen had a Mclaren Mercedes crankshaft with some Mobil 1 lubricants.
Michael Schumacher the best more Ayrton Senna

Get rid of DRS in today's F1. This is the result.
Also they were different tactics.

Mika 💪🏻
The first time he won in Austria was in a disgraceful way.
Back when F1 WAS F1, not the nanmby pamby processional nonsense of today.
Ummm....you mean when we had "Trulli trains"?
Verstappen in 12th was him just starting racing did he have redbull car
Brundle biased again. He is talking about a straightline speed that doesn't exist, lmao. It's an average slipstream effect, nothing else.
Im english, but the blatant bias that ALWAYs exists in our drivers and commentators is embarrassing.
@@erpaderpa4469 There is some truth in what is said. However, still remember that the overtaking " problems" in f1 started as early as early 90s. If one would review the races , one will surely observe that most overtaking took place only if the car ahead had a sensible tyre wear problem or the car behind had a less downforce setup or had a better top speed. Even by 1998 , overtaking a car with same rubber on, pretty much same top speed or same setup was next to mission impossible.
In my opinion, there is still no F1 racer like him
Hakkinen had a much better car at that time.
His strategy was only one pit stop, so his car was heavy for more amount of fuel
I'm sorry to disagree, but if that were the case Coulthard would also walk among them.
Please do your homework; mika was a very fast driver…. End off
@@celo248exactly.
Not true. McLaren started extremely impressive on that championship but Ferrari cought up very fast. Actually Ferrari was faster in many circuits. The notion that McLaren was faster was completely wrong.
Awfully chaotic.
