Grafham Water in October . A short two hour session after the first of the Autumn storms pass through . Using floating lines only I have a proper red letter day using popper fry in the main basin then moving to G point where I bump into shoals of shrimp feeding fish that I target with nymphs' and eventually the dries .

Thanks for watching . Yep it was one I will remember for some time
Great video Tim what a great session
Just one of those short sessions when everything clicks . Wont be forgetting that for a long time !
Brilliant video thanks. Wot a fantastic day you had.
One of the best short sessions I have had for years .
Brilliant, thanks for a great video.
Thanks for watching . Had a lot of fun doing this one
Really good video, Tim. Very enjoyable watch.
Cheers buddy . Great fun to do this one !
Excellent video Tim good fun m8 👌
Thanks mate . Had me chuckling all afternoon .. those fish were switched up to 10 ! Well worth braving the rain .
Excellent session and very informative! Nice to see a Grafham brown! Well done!
Only the second I have had this year ! There are a few turning up to the bank anglers at the moment fishing shrimp patterns ..
Good session. It’s great getting them on the dries
Theres no better way when they are having it like that ! ..
Great work Tim, must try the popper and shrimps. What a fantastic session, i bet you had a job to leave. Thanks Tim
It was one of those few hours where you wish it would just go on and on ! Pretty special afternoon
Yet another great video & what a session. I’ve never fished Grafham, we used too fish Rutland, but it looks like we need to give it a try - maybe book a session with yourself when we can. Thanks for a great video
Thanks for watching . Grafham is a pretty special place and offers a very varied fishery . Definitely the best of the Midlands lakes for sure !
Great video mate hope to see you soon
And you mate . Hope your keeping well
Great session that. I’ll bet your cancellation regrets cancelling! Thats what waterproofs are for!!
Absolutely !! .. Worth every drop of rain !
Thanks Tim. As usual a great vlog. I used your popper fry pattern this time last year and had plenty of action to it with some contact but never managed to hook anything despite varying the mode of retrieve and stopping. Just got the impression that the fly was being hit rather than taken in earnest. Will go next week if the wind speeds allow it.
Stick with it . Some days the fish just chase , other days they have it ! .. Stopping and pausing the fly mid chase as I don in this vid can get some great results .. dont strike till you see the fly disappear !
Great video full of action. I bet your cancellation will be totally gutted 😂😂
Well worth braving a little bit of drizzle ! The fish don't care , they are already wet ! lol
Nice to se u out and dry
Dry .... ish ..... Everything I love doing involves getting wet , muddy and cold ! .. Must be crazy lol
Brilliant video m8 tht was a few u got with the left hand how many did u get i lost count watching 😂 do u have a tying video for the shrimp pattern tim? i dont have any those in my box im missing out i think lol
Yes mate I have done a vid on the Grafham shrimp kzhead.info/sun/iK-Nk9SKoZeCaZ8/bejne.html
Hi Tim, i dont suppose you do lessons/guides on grafham at all? Im just getting started and would love a day or two with you to learn more and further my skills. Thank you
Yep , thats literally what I do for a living lol .. Check out www.flyfishing-essex.com or get me on Facebook , we can have a chat about guided days , costs etc ..
@@timjoyceflyfishing-essex6769 Great thank you, ive sent a message over via your website.
How can you see these fish when they so far away ? great to see you getting loads
The more time you spend on the water the more you see . Also the camera doesn’t give great depth of field , in the near flat calm the fish stand out at a long range . Thanks for watching .
Hi Tim can I ask what is the back material covering the cork handle on your #8 rod? Thanks 😊
Its Shrink wrap for Cricket bat handles ... great stuff when the cork gets a little worn
What do you class as a shrimp pattern
Hi Tim, will this method of fast retrieve work on the bank? I have never seen anyone fish this fast retrieve fishing on the banks of reservoirs. Why?
Yes absolutely . When trout are in the chasing mood you cant move it to quick for them ! We fish this speed from the banks all the time .. often a random fast retrieve can catch a fish unaware and coax him into reacting .
hi Tim what size greys landing net do you use ,joe,
18 inch mate .. its easy to manoeuvre and will get any trout that your likely to come across in comfortably .
thanks Tim@@timjoyceflyfishing-essex6769
Hi Tim, do you still do guiding / tuition ? if so which venues do you operate from ? thanx in advance.
Morning . Absolutely . www.flyfishing-essex.com I am pretty flexible but mainly coach at Chigboro fishery in Essex and guide at Grafham reservoir .
Where do you get your tapered leaders from Tim?
I make them myself .. Its very easy . 3 equal lengths of fluro , 15lb 12lb 8lb just joined with a simple 3 turn water knot . No need for expensive milled ones ..
@@timjoyceflyfishing-essex6769 will give it a try cheers Tim
It's a sub n thumbs from me cheers
Thanks for the support .. You can tell I had a LOT of fun making this one ! .. Happy Christmas
