I cried when Sakkari cried. I’m extremely proud of her. Honestly either Halep, Iga, Badosa or Sakkari taking the title this year would’ve made me happy. I really hope this will be a win for Sakkari and from this point onwards she can focus on winning a grand slam.

This girl Maria has been grinding hard since last year, she has come close many times but hasn’t been able to lift a significant trophy. She even beat Iga last year in the RG quarterfinals. Hope she lifts the trophy this time here in the Tennis Paradise.

You gotta love Sakkari … true grit and so humble and a good heart. I remember her last match with Swiatek was during the WTA championships in Mexico last year where she reduced Iga to tears in a solid beating. But when Maria saw Iga tearing at the end, she went over and gave her a big hug.
Actually it wasn't their last match - their last match was few weeks ago in Doha where Swiatek won 2-0. But I'd say between these 2 it's always a close encounter

Yes, two players in the final who are so much front footed for aggressive play. Maria has the advantage of being more experienced, 26 yrs old, and Iga is practically just starting to play serious professional tennis. Under new staff, she started the power trainings only last summer, I think Maria is still much more powerful at least in her forehand. And much will be decided for the first serve success rate. Maria has more routine, Iga maybe more talent, so it will be anyway hopefully exciting final, whoever wins.

Closest to the Men of any Sport. Back in the day it was unwatchable unless one of the few top gals were playing. The are all absolute animals out there anymore. It DOUBLED my fun, more great Tennis to follow.

I really admire and enjoy both of these competitors. It was impossible to pick a favorite. After hearing Sakkari's interview on the Tennis Channel I had a real respect and appreciation for her as a person. Congratulations to her on a fantastic semi victory and much luck in the final.
Big congrats to Maria and compliments to both ladies. Its hard to tell from the highlights, but Maria was hitting deeper, better angled shots and Paula was being more conservative. Excellent match.

This needs to be a long term rivalry. Badosa won at WTA finals...they are both capable of winning any tournament and playing each other often in late rounds.

Solid match from Sakkari. Thanks to Badosa who played quality tennis despite having the pressure of defending the titille …but Sakkari today was rock solid . The final tomorrow is going to b 🔥 . Imo the chances are kind of equal for Swiatek and Sakkari…but slightly in the advantage of Swiatek . Both players play well , but I think Swiatek is stronger mentally and plays better in big matches . Howerver , Sakkari serves really well, has references against Swiatek ( since her record is 3-1 against Iga) and seems to be determinate like never before . Her chances are there too …Will see . May the best win 🏆

Badosa certainly didn't look as sharp as she had against, say, Fernandez, but all credit to Sakkari for being consistent and playing very well throughout. It's going to be a very interesting final.

Sad to lose the gorgeous Paula, the defending champion; but, well done Maria for whom I have a new-found respect after watching her post-QF PC.👏 Forbidding and stern on court as a rule, it came as an eye-opening pleasant surprise to watch and hear an endearing, thoughtful and articulate Maria off-court. I don't recall seeing Maria smile on court but she could not stop smiling after wrapping up the 1st set. 😁 Maria, and that nice wonderful creature inside, shall doubtless have their glory days. Sakkari is a feisty aggressive little player.
Sakari had improved her Game. She is constantly developing. Her game is one notch up. She is hitting very solid and hard, with great depth and placing. She came to net and show good form.
