I love the professionalism of both players. The respect for each other and their friendship I think is more valuable than the trophy itself. Better luck next time for Sakkari. I think she has really improved her game physically and mentally. Annett Kontaveit is an amazing athlete and a great looking woman.

Match of the year so far! 3 hours of pure stress and excellence
Match.Of.The.Year. 🤩 Anett demonstrating her great poise/composure after looking down and out on multiple ocassions, managing to claw her way back into the match. Tennis analyst Rubin took the words out of my mouth in stating Sakkari needs to stop exhibiting the 'mental fragility' in having to look over at her bench with the pained expression and inner monologue after a few UEs in a game when still leading 4-1 in the set.
It was similar to her battle against Alexandrova in the Moscow final last year, when Anett was trailing by 4-6, 0-4, but still managed to turn it around. What a fighter! 👍
What a match! Come on WTA, this match deserves extended highlights at least.
What a comeback!😱When Kontaveit was down in the 2nd set I was like "It's over" and I just switched and watched FAA vs Tsitsipas Final...Came back and found them playing the 3rd and she was 4-1 down. Wow! Her Mentality! Congrats to her!❤Better luck next time Maria❤
When Sakkari won 7 games in a row after trailing 2-5 in the first, I saw no chance for Kontaveit to come back and went out. But when I came back, it was matchball Kontaveit. 😱 what a great comeback that was! Shame on me that I missed most of it and great respect to Anett.
The accolades they heaped on each other showed their friendship & professionalism and that was wqually as impressive as their playing. Congratulations to BOTH ladies.

Yeah but she can't win at 1000 tournaments or majors i mean she's a good player just not great. And many players have come back from 2-5 down and have done it at Majors
Many belive she can take wta 1000 or major and i believe that we see it this year.

Excellent match, classy ladies and Maria seemed very genuine in her after match comments. It looked like Maria was going to cruise home with the trophy but Anett stepped up. I like how Maria talks about TEAM and that is something you don't hear enough of. Compliments to both ladies.

@@PhumSneah she has to make it past a quarter finals first but we will see anything can happen with the inconsistency in the women's game so far she's only done well in smaller tournaments and that doesn't necessarily translate to a Major

Sakkari needs a coach like Tursunov. Kontaveit without Tursunov won just one tournament. With Tursunov 5 tournaments.
@@valerym1400 Tursonov got her over the mental block. She may not relay on him now but she needed someone new to really make her believe she can go deep in tournaments. Probably same for Sakkari, she also needs to mentally reset, she’s too tight and nervous in key moments, but she certainly plays well when she’s losing.
Would love to see Maria start winning some titles,She totally deserves lots of big wins.Would love to see her getting to number 2 behind Ash.Congrats though to Annett.
Had some hot tears towards the end, ngl, but remembering that they were close friends definitely makes things better, haha. Incredible final. Felt like an ATP match.

Yep I knew Kontaveit was in good position to win , I knew it would b a 3 setter tight match . …However, I didn’t know and think it would have been THAT tight. Dang almost 3 tie breaks …that’s pretty rare in the wta . Pretty high level for both of them . Congratulations to Kontaveit and thanks Sakkari for the tennis quality.

I really hope Sakkari could win! When she was leading 5:2 in 3rd set, I thought this time Sakkari made it finally but so sad that she lost again to Kontaveit! Kontaveit no doubt played really well!
This has got to be my favourite womens match of the year so far. The tennis quality was stunning. More than that their rivalry/friendship looks more like two sisters playing each other who have so much love. Amazing match and amazing presentation ceremony.

Someone had to lose. Unfortunately it was Sakkari this time. Such a great final though!!! This match started before and finished after FAA vs Tsitsipas lol that's how much these ladies battled it out.

This is absolutely insane. I couldn’t watch this final live. But the time I checked the livescores the game was in favor of Maria. I thought it was over. I came here hoping to see Maria lifting up the trophy. What a final. Congratulations to both ladies.

I really enjoy Anett’s style of playing. Plus she has a very strong FH and BH, he doesn’t show muscles like Sakkari but power is in there. Plus, Kontaveit is very intelligent and creative with her shot selection.

I like them both so much and I like their games so much it makes it so hard to root for one over the other but I wanted Anett's indoor winning streak to continue so I guess I was rooting for her just a lil' more. Sakkari is such a great player and so fit and competitive. She's such a role model but Anett's WILL to come back from 5-2 down is incredible. Great to see such wonderful sportswomen compete at their best! QUALITY!!!

This was an amazing final. Both played great tennis. I thought for sure Sakkari had it down the stretch but Anett fought back and prevailed like the champion she is. Two good friends sharing a great final. Congrats to both.

Grown to be a fan of both over the 2021 season, so this was a tough pick! Sakkari was let down by a few poor decisions based on these highlights, and a pattern seems to be emerging where she fails to close out matches. Anett's high-percentage game edged out in this one, since she's also quite the agile player like Sakkari. Still, great match for both and hopefully we see them play consistently throughout the year!
I can't believe in this sh*t WHAT A COMEBACK! And what a match! probably the second or third greatest comeback of the elite TENNIS in general this year the third without any doubt (Nadal vs. Medvedev the 1st, Medvedev vs. Félix we may talk about). Anett started the match the way she finished almost flawless, Sakkari just dropped down her level a lil bit right in the last 3 games what costed the match obviously, she was stable the whole match, Anett up and down many times that makes the comeback even bigger. Both deserve greetings for the entertainment they provided once again.
Love both ladies!! Perfect sportsmanship and excellent inspiration to all youth around the world.How I wish this is always the scenery in the awarding and how great their game is. The fans are the winners for the an outstanding show

Incredible match. The level of shot making was very high. These women were pouring everything they had into this match. It's like not wanting to lose cos it's personal, no one wants to lose to their best friend. I loved Maria's speech. What a great sportswoman. The future is so bright for the WTA.

The 13th meeting in what can become a great rivalry of the sport. I love both of these players and I really hope for Anett to start making slam runs and for Maria to be able to close out some more titles.
It's sad how Maria lost. She should have won. She should've been mentally stronger to take that trophy. Maria played better but Konteviet was mentally stronger. If they meet again Maria better be ready to hand her that can.

Omg what a match, what a fight from Kontaveit from behind in the second and third sets. Incredible.
I knew the minute in the 3rd set Sakkari had the lead 5-3 and allow Kontaveit back in the game with mental mistakes while serving, I knew she was going to choke. Sakkari doesn't have the killer instinct to finish the opponent when she had control of the match.
Anett once again showed us how she maintains her focus and controls her emotions, even when she is down 4-1 in the second set. She just doesn’t give up, so tenacious. I love both players but I wish Maria would stop looking to her bench after every shot and having a discussion with them. Not sure how she can keep her focus with the distraction after almost every point. But hope she wins a tournament in 2022. Congratulations to both players.

when I saw the match the score was 4:2 and I thought: “maria why are you nervous… two more games and you’ll win((” and then I got why she was nervous 😬 by the way i was rooting for annet but lost a believe in the third set ) great fight and never give up ⬆️
