  • This is amazing. May those two packs find peaceful boundaries so they can continue to grow and thrive with minimal conflict. There just aren't enough of these dogs in the wild at the moment. However, it is super exciting that there are TWO packs on the reserve!

  • Hi LGR - That was such a very interesting video clip to watch. At least there weren't any casualties as they collided with each other. I think they all had a wale of a time chasing each other and running about all over the place over there. It'll be so interesting to know and find out what they all did, after they had gone in different directions in the end eventually. They seem to have quite a fascinating lifestyle, as they stay and live in medium to large sized packs altogether. I don't know what the life span of a pack of wild dogs is, but I am sure they usually live for quite a long period of time. They must have killed that impala just a few minutes before you arrived to see them. I know I mention her a lot, but just you aren't aware or didn't know it, but this is to just let you know that the Tsalala lioness is at long last very heavily pregnant now. I hope she'll feature in a few video clips there at some stage this year. That will be so lovely. I do hope she'll be successful in raising and rebuilding her cubs and her pride's dynasty, so that their existence can continue for many more years to come and go. She's done remarkably well to get to five years old too. I saw a photo of her a couple of days of so ago, resting up on your property, and her tummy was the size and shape of a balloon, and I bet it still is right now. So that will tell me that she's possibly got a bit more then two cubs on the way. She could potentially have as many as three or four. That would be a great boost for her and her pride's future. Once she's had her cubs, I'm sure you'll see a lot more of her, as she goes of hunting night and day for food. And that's a thing I've yet to see her do in a clip one day, is out and about searching for prey. She's a much admired, very well respected and very highly regarded lioness who seems to have a lot of determination and iron will inside her in order to survive for a lot longer. I'm not suggesting it will happen, but I'll be absolutely delighted and amazed if she does raise her first ever entire brood all the way to very hard independence and even harder adulthood eventually. It's fair to say that she certainly doesn't give up that easily. I'd like to think her lifespan will be at least double that of her own late mother who she sadly lost just over two years ago. Looking at the size of her own tummy right now, I'd say it won't be to long now before she goes into hiding, so that she can give birth to her cubs in peace and safety. Once she has had them, it'll also be very interesting to see and know where she's hidden them. Wouldn't it? I hope her pride's dynasty can and will carry on in to the future successfully. Then in just a few years time, she and her pride will be able to hunt buffalo together. But in the meantime, she'll probably just hunt more easy prey like wildebeest, zebra, kudu, impala, waterbuck, warthogs, nyala, and maybe even young and/or lost young buffalo. Like you, I can't wait to see the cubs for the very first time as well as how many she'll have. A litter of at least three or four cubs will be a great boost for her and her own little family. Hope to hear from you shortly. Robert 24.3.24 PS - The Nkoveni female has a new litter of 3 sweet and healthy little cubs now. I hope she'll keep them successfully. How is her aging mother, the much loved Mashaba female doing there right now? I hope she's still alive and well. Even when you don't see her, do you get any updates or news on her? It's a bit worrying, as she hasn't been seen there for a long time, although she did feature in a clip there about 4 months ago for a brief visit.

  • Just curious - at the 3:47 mark, is that a tracking collar that I see? We were with Shadrack and Bennett in August when you filmed the puppies on the road. Londolozi is a special place and we loved our time with y'all. Cheers.

    • Yes it is a tracking collar. Wild dogs are endangered and this is for research purposes to keep a track of their movements. We sadly don't have access to the information from this collar though.

  • Main thing is they're confused...they don't know who's who all the time... that's why they were running around
