Iskall dont forget you can use the Crafter to turn the sugar cane to paper and combine the paper and gunpowder automatically! Then instead of storing everything on its own you can funnel completed rockets into a shulker loader to make stocking the shop easier

Great plan for the Cut grass Permits 1. You could start a lawn mowing service, mow fellow hermits terrain for a price. 2. Take said lawn clippings, sell them in your cut grass store. 3. Go back to hermits bases, bonemeal/re-plant the grass. 4. Repeat steps 1. Infinite diamond cheat.

The server-wide preference for horses and boats this season makes a lot of sense for keeping the single rocket shop from becoming overwhelming
Realistically, put a heart of the sea in your house and it’s a fully functional vertical space.

You should accept stacks of sand as an alternative form of payment. Would help you to keep your tnt farm stocked without needing to shovel sand!

I love this permit idea, it introduces so many layers to the otherwise straightforward shopping district experience. I like that the server experiments with different economy models even if it's not particularly by design or anything. Oh, and just because you can't sell the prismarine doesn't mean you can't be a distributor for whoever does ;)
How does it add more layers? It specifically removes any competition so every shopping experience is exactly the same...
I don't like it. Some of the most funny moments from earlier seasons were shops like Undercut and Cheapslate.

I think the pairing of TNT and rockets is such a lucrative farm combination, if you stay on top of it, i could very much see you being the richest hermit this season
Auto crafting sugercane into paper, and then autocrafting paper and gunpowder into rockets would be such a good idea to lighten the workload.
Iskall needs to have a Conduent under his house so he has permanent Water Breathing and Night Vision when inside his house.

I dont know how you guys did it. I genuinly dont. But this is honestly so far the best season yet. Not just because of the permits although the idea is amazing. But genuinly everyone feels so interested in playing and having fun. In just doing things differently and switching things up. Seeing you and Beef toss Fish back and forth while Grian is talking and Mumbo coming inbetween you two Goblin style, snatching the fish to troll? That is NOTHING I would have ever expected previously and I had to actually pause the video and laugh. This season feels like you are all just doing what you WANT over what works. This season is so fricking good already. I cannot wait for the shenanigans. I cannot wait for the interactions. I cannot wait for the projects, the stories, the ideas, the co-op stores or even marketing strategies against rivals. Sabotague. Who knows what comes next?? I just know Im hyped for it.
Season 7 was really good, as well, in case you havent seen it
Giving up megabuilds and the time-lapse-per-episode mentality has been a wonderful and welcome change, to be sure. It lets the Hermits just do what they enjoy, instead of feeling like they have to feed the KZhead algorithm machine with a steady stream of huge impressive builds (a fast track to burnout if there ever was one). Settling closer to each other helps too, since it sets up more chances for interactions and shenanigans.
i generally like the idea of "only one person can sell a specific item", i can definitely see people passing them back and forth a lot eventually lol
I feel like with every Hermit having a monopoly of sort, if they all set really ludicrous prices, the server will see a massive inflation, which would be quite funny.
I mean it is kinda good because if season 9 showed anything it's that the economy was uh well the diamond tower event thing was certainly something
I think the permit idea is interesting, with no competition you can charge a lot or charge non-diamond prices (like Doc, he plans to charge sand), but you have to keep in mind that if you get too expensive you'd just push everyone into making a rocket farm for themselves. The farms aren't hard to make; this happens to me on every SMP I play, especially for rockets. I burn up my diamonds buying them, then I don't feel like grinding for more diamonds so I just make the farms. Cool to see our boy Wattles getting a shoutout :)
How did Beef make such a hilarious start to the episode ;-; opening the door to a KELP FOREST.. or a normal house and being told your room is upstairs and going up to see.. a dirty red cube.. with 1 tiny window.. pointing at nether portal perry the platypus..

I think you should negotiate with whomever has the prismarine permit. You build the farm, they have the permit - you split the profits 50/50. Other hermits (Doc, for example) are doing similar things and it makes sense as you already want to build a farm. Also, 2 diamonds per stack sounds good - as you say, nobody seems to be having any issues getting diamonds this season, so why not?
Grian also wants the prismarine permit and he's already trying to get it. He'll probably be faster
Grian has it and based off how desperate he was when getting it from mumbo he's not giving it up anytime soon
iskall you should do a "free rockets" store where people afk near your creeper farm and it automatically gives them like 1 rocket every 5 minutes
One suggestion for your creeper farm. Soul campfires do twice the damage of normal campfires and look cooler. While the fall damage should do most of the damage, using soul campfires means you could probably stick another layer or two of spawning platforms.

To be honest a house filled with water is extremely convenient, having good 3D movement opens up the possibility for so much better architecture and with the conduit you wouldnt even have to worry about drowning
I think, for ANYTHING you sell with diamonds, you should offer an alternate payment method too. For example: 30 diamonds per shulker box, OR you become IskallMAN for a day.
All the silent pestering and joking about during the permit explanation was so funny, all the other POVs I've seen were just sitting on so nicely so it was a nice bit of variety
I am liking the permit idea. It mixes things up -- people doing different farms than they normally might, plus a fairer way to determine who gets the high-profit items besides "I built it first" -- and creates opportunities for interactions with folks trading permits and making deals. One thing, though .... Iskall isn't going to be prying that prismarine permit out of Grian's fishy little hands anytime soon. Luckily his own permits are guaranteed profits.
Look, Iskall, you've been to the end cities. If you wanna jump high, if you wanna go fast, you have your elytra for that! But if you want to relax, if you want to take a nice stroll, connect with your community and appreciate the beautiful bases and scenery, then the Swede-ish is perfect for you! Beef was so thoughtful. I love the Swede-ish.
i definitely think that rockets should be more expensive this season, but you need to remember that many hermits dont go mining apart from their earlygame episodes, and so their only source of diamonds is the diamonds they make from their own shops, of course the hermits that do mine will pump more diamonds into the system than before, but it would take some time before anything meaningful happens, so its best to start with cheap prices and adjust from there

I'm so glad Iskall is back! I'm loving the interactions with Beef too. Watching Iskall on Saturdays was always a ritual for me.
You could sell the rockets for basically anything you need : - maybe some basic packages sold for diamonds like x32 rockets per diamond or even more expensive as a default "scrappy" option, - then a stall of "rare" sells for other block types you want/need for a project like lots of spruce logs or something, - and even services ! Imagine having an "omega" offer, selling lots of rockets to someone so they can expand the creeper farm/light up the caves for you :O maybe a lifelong discount if they do it well ? Food for thoughts :P
selling rockets while flying only using the trident reminds me of one of the "commandments", "Don't go fly on your own supply" or something like that...
Really liked the video and the permits are a really fun idea. Some ideas: 1. Permits only affect things you sell, not personal trades, you could supply prismarine to the Hermit that has the Permit for a cut of the profits. 2. Permits only seem to cover items sold, not services, so you could make any sorta delivery service, or even sell AFK times at farms.
Wattles getting a shout out is great. He's often overlooked by the MC community but he's great.

Might I suggest using something other then diamonds for currency? Sponges are probably the best choice, since they can't be farmed and are a lot rarer then diamonds.
If you want to get around the bugginess of cats moving around randomly, put them in minecarts

An idea for how you could price. If diamonds aren’t something you feel like you need a lot of, you could always charge useful Minecraft items or blocks. Like for a stack of rockets you could charge a stack of glass or something. It’s only really useful if you don’t want diamonds though. Excited to see how this season plays out from your perspective :).
I really like the Hermit Permits idea too! It seems more fair and diverse than the previous first-come-first-served system of opening shops

Hi. 2 diamonds per stack might be weird but you know you can create different flight duration per rocket so more duration more diamonds. So that hermits can buy either level 3 or level 1 depending on their interest. If you want you can do coloured rockets too.
The hermit permits look like a warrant of trade from the warhammer 40k universe in the item frames
It should be interesting to see how the shops play out over the season. If there’s a material that you need, you could charge 1 diamond, plus it, for the rockets.
I think the prices should be like the following: 2 Diamond for 64 power 1 Rockets 5 Diamonds for 64 power 2 Rockets 7 Diamonds for 64 power 3 Rockets Also you can use atomatic crafters to fully automate the Rockets producing and use Minecrarts with rails to automatically stock the shop.
I suggest having different resources than just diamonds to pay for rockets; for example, if people paid in logs then there could be 16 logs for a stack of rockets (so you had trapdoors to finish the farm) etc and just change it to be what you need. A base diamond price would be good though, maybe 1 per 2 stacks as often people like to avoid mining
I was fully expecting the floor to be made of soul sand, so when the kelp was broken Iskall would be flung up and have trouble escaping!
Cant wait to see some of "gifted resources" that magically give them diamonds back as a gift as well.
omg I was sooooo excited seeing how y'all's shopping district was working this season! cause in a server I modded for during the pandemic I was in charge of ours & did something similar & it was soo fun! It'll be extra exciting seeing how y'all's pans out hehe

I think you should charge 2 diamonds for 3 stacks of rockets, that way you are basically charging 1 diamond each for a stack of gunpowder and paper, and the trade will be received well by other hermits. Also, like many people have commented already, the gunpowder farm relies on wandering mob mechanics, mobs cannot wander if the player is 32 blocks away from them (x and z positions), so it would be better if you made a farm that utilizes water, like gnembon's or ilmango's design. The killing chamber could be lowered by using stalagmite or having soul fire on soul sand with hoppers underneath, or you can get creative with the killing chamber! Loved the video and loving your "unhinged" energy this season!

i agree the hermit permits are such a clever idea, and i love that its already established that yall have a plan for if shop stock slows down/if hermits go inactive. i also agree that diamonds are bonkers now but i like the armour trims and dont get to play too often so im not mad about it dskfkdjhg
its so funny that you got the flight rockets. by setting a high price on rockets you can force the rest of the server to stay grounded, or use other means of transportation like riptide tridents (or force them to build their own creeper + sugarcane farms).
there is a sci-fi book series called The Interdependency, which is basically this shopping theme. each planet is awarded to a ruling family that is allowed to produce and sell a monopoly on one thing, but then they have to sell that thing to the rest of the planets in the empire. i wonder if grian read that series when coming up with this idea.
Explosive personality and a seller of explosives. This is a great combination.
Starting with one or two diamonds per stack will help prevent everyone from buying up the stock immediately, before you've had a chance to light up the caves and get a sugar cane farm going. You don't want everyone to instantly buy out your stock, so it's actually a good idea to keep prices high, at least initially.
Excited for the shopping district. It was one of my favorite features in season 7. With Iskall's idea of needing to purchase land being a key element to how the season played out. Seasons 8 and 9 didn't have the same emphasis on a shopping district, so excited to see it with a new twist.

You should raise the farm up a fair few blocks to keep it loaded. At present, you're building at a position where most of the creepers will despawn due to being more than 128 blocks away from the player when standing at ground level. The spawning rate will decrease by raising the level but there's no point in high spawn rates if they're going to despawn before they're killed.
That patch of tuff at the bottom of iskall's pit for the creeper farm looks kind of... Codly. Like a sea creature in a secret chamber

with the permits, you can find whoever has the stuff you make a farm for and supply it to them for a cut. if theres multiple people as suppliers, you can have "supplied by x" and people can choose their favorite supplier. Taking the stress of constantly needed to be there for your shop and makes it easier, and just making money from other peoples farms.
Sounds cool. You should have an authorised wholesale permit where, for example, you can authorise another hermit to sell flight rockets but they can only sell to you. Then theoretically, you could be selling a product that you don't produce. I would also say, price your rockets based on prices of ingredients if other hermits have the permits for paper/sugar cane and gunpowder. Set up complex trade deals with other hermits for various items. Let them do the AFK-ing

Hey Iskall, you might experience a boost to rates by clearing out space adjacent to the farm. It will let pack spawns that land outside the farm place spawns inside the farm itself.
I love that like .. 1/2 of the hermits cannot sit still during grians speech.. like iskall HAS to keep moving...
Iskall, may I suggest maybe making a subscription service for rocket. Hermits buy a full box for 20 diamonds, then when it runs out they can put their box into a machine that refills it, if they pay some amount of diamonds in exchange.
You should make it seem like the purple glass is your main shop and then the rockets are in a little shack in the back.
I love this season and your content in it. Love for Wattles farm, he is a great guy and his iron farm is my favorite one, creeper farm is pretty cool too. Keep on being real man and godspeed, loving the season so far!
I think it makes for perfect Collab opportunities, the hermit who has the permit. Labeled with the hermit who wants build the farm. Hermits trading permits and joining other hermits to create corporations.
