Problem with stuff that looks abandoned is you get people who assume it is abandoned and will think it's ripe for picking, or vandalising, best thing to do is gather it all up and put it behind walls, otherwise it'll all end up being picked apart by freeloaders...
If it was me I'd just start clearing the good stuff out an scrap the rest lot of old metal
You need to Value all that stuff over $5,000 this way it's considered a felony that he can be charged with
@@NubsWithGunsThe three transmissions will be that price without factoring in the radiators or the window glass they smashed up
@@NubsWithGuns you sound like a gay nerd
Depends on the location. Where I'm at any damages/theft of $1000+ is a 3rd degree felony. Anything under that is a petite larceny misdemeanor. But since it's not a "violent" crime, and the jails are packed as it is nothing much will come out of it. Probably just a fine and probation. Used to be $250 bucks or more is a felony. But now crime is out of control these days. The justice system can't keep up with all the thievery.
I had a fellow break in and steal a bag of tater tots out of my freezer. I was so mad at him. I like tater tots.
It sucks I have had it done. But you really can't expect anything less. If it's something you value you need to get it close to your house or in a fence and scrap the rest.
might be a good time to consolidate and clear out.

Don't feel too bad. You're like a lot of us. I have so much, I can't remember if I sold it, gave it away, moved it to another location, loaned it to my kid or someone stole it. I guess it's the price we pay for being prosperous.
I shouldn't have to remember what I had, to somehow justify someone POS from taking it. That's exactly the attitude someone who would steal would have.

Dude, it looks like it's been abandoned for decades. You don't want your stuff stolen you have to take ownership of it and your property. Not saying it's right but if a place looks abandoned and people are able to just get in there unnoticed for what looks like years and years... I mean don't be surprised when things like this happen. Clean the place up, organize your stuff ("I didn't even know I left this here" and "I haven't been here in years") and make it look like someone actually cares about it and you'll mitigate this issue.
My thoughts exactly...
I was thinking this, just looks like abandoned property.
Lets just leave all items of value in rotten junk cars. Sure it sucks your things are gone but if they were of importance then keep them locked up.
I'll put money down that it's more people doing it than just the one guy that got caught! Teenagers probably found it, and used it for parts for their own vehicles.
Probably been happening for years
To be honest if I stumbled across that lot I wouldn’t even believe it belongs to anybody any more or they just died! It looks like it’s been there for many many years and just abandoned by some old timer! ( man oh man you’ve got some serious land) 😊👍🏻
I can see that
Flood happened also due to huricane.bunch of dabree due to that.
I was thinking that maybe the old guy is destitute, saw all this really old stuff in the woods that appears to be abandoned… thought he could make a few bucks. Doesn’t seem like a heinous crime.. I’m not justifying it in any way but he doesn’t sound like a dangerous desperado…. Maybe the broken windows were done by kids… seems more like that? Sorry for the frustration Ike!!
Not justifying it, but that was my whole thought the entire time. Someone thought they found a bunch of scrap in the woods. Probably from the tracks. I mean, at least put it behind a fence or put some clear signage up! Again, DOESN'T MAKE IT RIGHT... but might've prevented it.
similar to my comment.
Kids seem to be the ones that bust the most windows.
yep, and they like to walk along train tracks too... so it may have been them.
Glad you found who it was and took care of it. Sucks you had to deal with this.
Dang dude! That woods is a mess. Place needs to be cleaned up. Scrap or sell that crap that you haven’t even looked at in years.

Wow man I am so sorry that crap happened. Can't stand a thief. Some people.. it doesn't matter where it's at, or what it is, if it's not yours, no touchy.
Very similar theft happended to me 2.5 years ago. I caught the guy red handed. He broke into my shop and lifted thousands of dollars worth of tools, parts, keepsakes, et al. The cops only charged him with "receiving stolen property",,, no charges for breaking & entering, trespassing, theft, etc. He was arrested but his grandmother posted bail within 8 hours. The DA took the case and it is currently pending grand jury trial. I suspect I'll never see restitution or justice. Meanwhile, the thief and his criminal enablers and family continue to trespass and flaunt their crimes. They went as far as to play the victim card because I reported the theft to the cops. My faith in this particular police force is nil; totally ineffective at best, possibly corrupt themselves. Good luck with pursuit of justice.
thats really crap getting your stuff damaged and stolen, but everyone of those cars look like they were dumped in the woods, i can see why someone would think they are fair game, if they have value to you, perhaps move them closer to your house and fence them off?
It doesn’t matter it’s on his property. Why would you even say something like that?
Why he had the fence off your own property oh wait, so theifs can crawl over the fence
I gotta agree, just looks like cars abandoned in the woods
Can you design a fence that will keep thieves out look at the Mexico and Texas border they’re still climbing over it and it’s 22 feet tall
@@tHeFloW it doesn’t matter it’s his property apparently you live in a apartment complex do you have a two by 2 ft.² of grass
I also inherited a very similar piece of property a few years back, wouldn't ya know it, it started getting "picked" by metal theives. I ended up getting everything i wanted moved out, and sold all the rest to a legitimate scrap metal guy. Took a dozer afterwards snd cleaned the place up. it gave me piece of mind. I understand your pain. Good luck getting justice.
Walk your properties with the video camera and describe everything you see. That way, if it happens again, you can go back to the video and figure out what is missing. My bet is that unless they find the items with the guy, he won't be charged with the theft, just the trespassing.
Man so sorry!!! From one builder to another. Keep your head up!! Much Love!!
I'm sorry that happened to you. You're the type of guy that will help anyone who asks you. They took advantage of your kindness ❤ keep your head up and keep going

They may have thought it was abandoned junk, it certainly looks like it is🤷🏼♂️
Thats a pretty far stretch
i was thinking the same thing...
Still wasn't there's to take
You still can't take abandoned things off private property wtf
We don't live in a world where honesty and respecting others property is taught by parents any more ! Your property was wide open and unsecured out in the woods this guy figured he would never get caught and he will most likely get a slap on the wrist [if that] and it'll be done! Sorry bud but this is the world we live in now !! You may want to go and take an inventory and remove the valuable stuff that's left and store it in a safer place !!
Issac, when I lived in Des Plains Illinois my truck was shot at by a kid. The cops caught him, charged him with unlawful discharge of a firearm, and let him go. I was never compensated for the damage to my truck, and without knowing who the kid was, I couldn't sue him. That's Illinois for you.
Feel your heartbreak and frustration. No excuse for stealing, even if he thought it was scrap (which he obviously did) . BUT, we live in 2024 and the world is not what it use to be. You must secure properly anything of value in a locked shed etc. Hard lesson to learn, but now is the time to go through all your junk yards etc., remove and securely store anything of value to you and scrap the rest. Huge job, but if you don't do it, somebody else will or it will rust away to nothing anyway. Again, not defending the thieves in any way, and I totally understand how you feel. Had my business broken into and cleaned out 3 times in 2 weeks many years ago. Heartbreaking and sent me to the wall. Do it now.
looks like everything is ruff and rusty might be time to call in the crusher and make some money
Missing parts I would say adults, broken windows sound like kids

He seems the kind of person that if you ask to borrow something or pay the right amount of money hed give it to you. Based on videos
It might not like my comment but regardless of the situation, if the place looks abandoned and nobody's been around. It's a free-for-all even though you own the property. I had stuff stolen off of property that my family owned but it looked abandoned so people just helped themselves.
Can't remember what was there. Wasn't that a brand new 383 stroker?
Yeah maybe a whole set of rims and tires too especially if the properties insured.
"YES IT WAS!" 😉
My guess would be that people stumble across your junkyard while walking the train tracks, assume its abandoned and then decide to help themselves to your property, the broken windows is probably teenagers thinking they're cool
Exactly what happened I bet.
Not to be funny it looks like junk in the woods I can completely under that it’s your junk in the woods but it looks like just scrap
I personally feel the pain from this . Bought a house straight out 3 years ago was in the middle of remodeling it first time home buyer so didn’t really know much about insurance or how important it was and last year someone torched it and it got tore down the same day . Lost well over 35k of years of busting my ass for it to be taking away in a sec action of a pathetic pos. Much love issac been watching you since I was a teenager man
I feel your pain and sense of violation. Having your stuff stolen is the worst. Reading through the comments, I was amazed to see how many people tried to justify the thief's actions based on the fact that the area "looked abandoned". No matter what it looks like, if stuff is on land you do not own, it is not free for the taking! A person would have to locate the property owner and get permission from them. Anything less than that is stealing, pure and simple. I wish I had something to say that would make you feel better, but I've been there too and know there is'nt any...
a random pile of rusted out junk in the middle of no were next to tracks is not a junk yard.....its a scrap pile. A junk yard has fences and signs to keep out and the stuff inside is not rusting away to nothing. take the stuff you actually care about and put it in an actual yard. Where i come from, stuff in your front hard is gone in the morning
You are right, no fence no signs so free stuff. But to be honest the same dirt bag that stole his stuff would have climbed over a fence past signs and stole it anyway. You are either a thief or you are not.

Still you don't steal from someone no matter what they have it may be junk but its there junk.
Clear the brush, set up some solar powered lighting, some trail cameras and some "Private property. No trespassing" signs. If the place looks like an illegal dump, and it sure does, what do you expect?
He expects thieves to keep their hands to themselves. Making sad excuses does not make theft ok.
@@hoopty388 It's your comprehension skills that are sad dude.
@uni-byte says the guy who can't comprehend the meaning of the word thief.
Sorry that happened man! It seems like they have been picking over that stuff for years now. Sadly, it seems like they got some good stuff!
Thats sad that you have to go through this I hope that you can get everything that was stolen returned and everything that was vandalized replaced and paid for with the thief's personal money and not their insurance company's money so they get taught a lesson and a message sent with them having to pay for the vandalism they did with their personal money
Make a price list of every missing and destroyed item and the guy will have to pay you restitution make the list big if you want him to pay for what he has done
Lmao..bullshit..he won't get a dime..he didn't even know what was back there
Those Muncie trans are worth around 2 grand a piece... the cast iron glide is only worth something to someone who's trying to make a matching car ...but in any case that's so bad for someone to steal from you
Add in the vandalized windows and grilles you can no longer buy new along with the value of those transmissions and the price goes up. There is an agricultural institute in my area that owns most of the land up in the flat-rock with a 100+ year old cabin on it they used for teaching students in the past. About 7 or 8 years ago someone smashed the picture window out of it to steal a desk that wasn't worth anything. The glass they smashed to steal the desk was worth far more money than the junk they were trying to steal. Morons like that are why we're slowly losing places to ride atv's and dirt bikes in my area.
Sorry to hear about this Isaac. Just sad when you have to constantly worry about your stuff because people refuse to work for a living.
I dunno man, a bunch of cars rotting away in an overgrown area next to some train tracks. Didn't see any signage saying to keep out, fencing, let alone maintenance to the area. Obviously it's so overgrown that you don't even know what you have out there. It's just a bit hard to feel sorry for ya on that one. Guy got away with a few hundred bucks worth of scrap if he's lucky, and I'm guessing that's how the courts will treat it.
If it doesn’t belong to you keep your fukkin hands off of it! The fact that there are cars on the on kept, overgrown, property shouldn’t give the person a clue that it belongs to somebody and he should be there. You may think that a powerglide, and two Muncie trannys is scrap metal but I don’t feel that way and I’m sure Isaac doesn’t feel that way.
still dont make it right weather they thought it was abandoned or not. stealing is stealing

Nothing like learning the hard way about the stuff you love or need
Put up fresh signs and make sure no one mistakes it as abandoned and the stolen muncies is very depressing knowing they was scrapped

This was the first time ive videoed out there
not justified as you say,but been abandoned for years and years and left to rot and im sure most didnt think nobody own this pile of garbage!!!!
Looks like they been having their way with the place for awhile 😢
Go back a couple of decades and there was no place the majority of people could comment on such things. Hear me out on why people always sucked, lol. My elderly mother says similar things about drugs, violence etc. because of what she hears on the "news" today. I know we're not talking about the cities, but certain news likes to push how bad they apparently are today, however they don't hold a candle to the heroin crisis and violence of the early-mid 70's. As for the country, it was the "wild west" and arguably more disturbing, and you know what I mean. I grew up hearing stories from family of the horrible things that happened to people "whose kind simply wasn't welcome". I guess who cares when you could get away with anything before fingerprints, right? I'm only in my late 30's and as a kid I had TV with foil covered rabbit ears (like 3 channels). News was very local, the world was tiny. Anyway as we age we all inevitably say - "Shows you the direction this world's in" Sorry about the rant.

He shouldn't have to clean up his property people should just understand that if something doesn't belong to them they should leave it alone just because you see something lying on the ground that doesn't automatically make it yours.
I feel your pain Ike. I've been stolen from too. My advice is to stay on those officers. It's a no big deal, petty crime to them. They've got better things to do. That's what happened to me. I stayed on them, calling them and emailing them, and finally wrote a letter to the court. FINALLY they re-arrested the thief that they let go....once I told them exactly where he was gonna be, and when he'd be there. He went to jail.
The scrapyard should be held accountable. Make them give up the transmissions. You know they didnt send the muncies to the melter. Scrapyard here had to buy my aunt a car because they bought my aunts car from the theif with no title presented and crushed it.

Hey, what’s your address? By your reasoning, the rest of us should be able to look at your property and make our own decision about whether or not you maintain it well enough to keep anyone else from messing with it.
With all these invaders and squatters now, watch your vacant properties Ike.
Yep. It's sad, but seems like all they need to do is break in and make up a fake "lease" agreement and the police can do nothing until you take them to months worth of civil court actions. All the while they steal and tear up stuff and then leave in the middle of the night and you are out thousands. Try to evict them with guns, etc, and then YOU get arrested. System is very broken.
I instantly recognized the Chevy Vega head. We used a vega engine in our mini rod tractor pulling in the late 1970's and early 1980's. My dad put a close ratio Munsie in his 1966 Pontiac GTO. Love those transmissions. I hope the slime ball goes to jail.
