Building My Favorite Camper Yet!
Experience the complete build of my latest, and largest, DIY camper. It's 6X10, sleeps four, has a shower and toilet and a new, experimental way of powering it with Ryobi 40 volt batteries (as well as shore power). Like my other builds, I didn't hold back when using alternative building techniques just to see if I can pull them off. It travels on a Harbor Freight 1720 lb trailer and can be easily unmounted if needed. It's also my first build that's tall enough to stand up in!
MATERIALS LIST BELOW
If you found this video after the release date, we have installed a 3500lb-rated axle and a set of Rainer radials. This helps the build be the safest possible on the road, although we didn't have any issues with the equipment used in the video. We simply upgraded when we could.

Carpenter, electrician, engineer, camera man, video editor.... Great work man you should be very proud.
Thanks for having a look!
A labor of love with immaculate attention to detail. What's not to love? ❤😊
Plumber, upholstery, ond good looking dang you single?
💯
Oh, O.K. Thank you!
I'm a certified RV tech I work mainly with airstream. But your attention to construction and detail is very good, the construction methods are better than most manufacturers sir .I've seen a lot of different types in my yrs of work. Keep up the good work...
That said most RV's are held together by staples and hope and sealed with thoughts and prayers.
@txflyguy0076 Thanks for checking out the video! That means a lot coming from an experienced RV tech. I am learning and hoping to get a little better with each build.
I totally agree. Rehabbed a couple airstream after complete dissemble.
As an rv tech what’s a good light weight yet full size what I mean is you can stand up in it around 5000lbs?
I've got to tell you just how incredible this D I Y project. I've been looking to buy a travel trailer. I'm a hobby furniture builder so I do have the skills. I think I might follow 🤔 your example 🤔
As a carpenter for 40 years now it’s good to see younger folks working with wood and as a carpenter that tried videoing the making of one of my projects, my hat is doffed. Thank you for NOT using filler music in your videos. That KZhead hamster music drives me crazy. Cheers.
֏
Thanks for the audio feedback. If I'm being honest, the beginning of your first sentence made me nervous. I thought you were going to lay into my carpentry. Thanks for going easy on me. There's nothing more intimidating to me than someone who's been building for decades longer than me. I'm trying my best but still very new to camper building. Thanks for checking out the build!
@@mikekrabalvery nicely done!
Couldn't agree more with the sentiment of music. There are moments when music can be good, but KZhead creators often use it too much. The audience doesn't need a constant onslaught of noise. A little exposition on what you're doing, shots that show it and that is all you really need.
Well build it camper
I am not a bulider/carpenter, but you held our attention for the whole hour. Your work and narration are spot on. Thanks for posting.
Thanks for having a look! It is greatly appreciated!
@@mikekrabal, my girlfriend and I accidentally watched this entire video. We were planning on going to bed but just kept on watching. Good job. and, yes, no filler music was nice.
i loved your commentary. i appreciated NO MUSIC playing as it often distracts or muffles words of dialogue. don't change anything. love your style.
That feedback helps me learn what folks want to watch. Thank you big time!
@@mikekrabal Based on my observations and other people's comments the background music doesn't sound the same on all devices. I'll be watching a video that I am fine with and in the comments people are whining about the music drowning out the poster. And I have had them drowned out and the comments are not complaining.
I thought the music was just fine.
Agree.... If I want info, I don't want music. If I want music, I'll watch a music video!
I absolutely hate background music while trying to listen to commentary. Love this cute and functional small build. Keep doing it!
Not only are you an excellent carpenter, you're a terrific narrator.
Thanks for having a look at the camper!

As a retired carpenter. You get my seal of approval. 👍 You should do a video on the break down of cost .
Thank you, sir. I am planning to add a bit about that in the camping video that will be coming soon. I haven't tallied it all up yet. Thanks for watching!
Sounds good !!@@mikekrabal
He also has my sealant of approval.
I would think a carpenter would object to the use of lap board for bottom wall structure. Those lag bolts aren't very useful, because the wood is the weak point, not eh fastener. Under enough stress, load, or long term shock and wear, the structural failure of the design is the bottom boards splitting, which pine will do.
I would be interested in a cost video myself.
The sped up "ahhhh" as he sits down at 13:15 is hilarious to me
Thanks for checking out the video!
I enjoy videos with no music. I am so impressed with the quality of your build on this. You have wonderful skills.
Thanks for having a look and the audio feedback!
@@mikekrabalI very much like the no music as well. hard for me to watch many videos over the music.
@@spacecase0 Thanks for having a look and that feedback, as well!
G’day from Australia mate, great craftsmanship & enjoy your future journeys in this wonderful creation buddy 👍
Agreed. No matter how good a channel might be or how talented the creators are, as soon as that screaming free use music starts, I'm gone.
I couldn't be more impressed with your design, attention to detail and good old common sense. It is a beautiful little creation! It felt like you thought of everything! Great job!
Thanks for having a look at the build!
Cut wood, seal, attach trim, seal, panels, seal, doors, seal, after done, seal, then step back and seal some more. I love the paranoia. :)
Dude! As a fellow mini-RV builder, I feel qualified to say YOU KNOCKED IT OUT OF THE PARK‼️ 👍🏼👍🏼 Great editing as well !
Thanks for having a look at the video!
Thank you for no music!! The amount of information you give us it’s insane.
Thanks for watching and for the audio feedback!
I have to tell you my friend you’re explanation and commentary is so inviting to listen to. You take your time to explain all of the important concerns that you or anybody else would have I thoroughly enjoy your videos and wish you the best of luck. Keep on building my friend. I gEt you’re feeling you are a very calm and nice guy like most people from the south. Here in Canada we are also known for kindness and hospitality but I find people from the south such as yourself to be much more obliging and humble take care be well and I hope the Lord blesses you and your family with all the best things in life.
I greatly appreciate your feedback regarding the audio on the video. It's terrifying to record it then release it to the public. Your comment helps me learn what folks want to hear. Thank you for your time and for checking out the build! I've been to Toronto once, and as you described, the folks were top notch! Great time it was.
Sir, you are amazingly talented! What a blessing you are to your family. May God bless you all with not just enough, but more than enough. You said you've always struggled financially, being transparent to your viewers. That speaks highly of your character. Not to be preachy, but God's Word says He gives us the power to get wealth. He has blessed you with gifts that you are using very well. You're cooperating with Him as you do your part. I pray again, may our holy and faithful Heavenly Father bless you and your family with more than enough, in the name of our Savior, Jesus Christ. Amen and amen. 🙏 🙏
Thank you for not adding annoying filler music. Quiet is so much more relaxing to watch. This is well done, both in terms of presentation and subject; the camper is amazing! By the way, you can never go wrong with neutrals (browns, wood tones, etc.) with something like this, as it lends well to the outdoor surroundings. Bravo.
Thanks for the audio and color feedback. They help me to learn what folks want to see for future videos and projects!
I would rather hear talking and the sound of the tools than music! Thank you!
I would rather hear talking and the sound of the tools than music! Thank you!
This video was miles better than any other camper build. Extraordinary job friend!
Thanks for checking out the video!
Amazon or harbor freight . Sleep cheap and drink wherever you go
Really impressive, loved it. That hour just went in a flash :) " I'm 200lb in real life and 180 in my mind" - classic!
Thanks for having a look! Your time is greatly appreciated!
dude, I’ve been watching camper builds for 20 years and this thing is incredible. So much attention to detail my friend. Amazing work!
Thanks for having a look at the camper! She ain't perfect, but I'm trying my best.
This is absolutely gorgeous i mean it blew my mind it can sleep with 4 people and you have a bathroom. This is freaking awesome. I know you and your family will have a lot of great camping trips
Thanks for checking out the build!
As someone that used to caulk trim for architectural windows, my hats off to you sir for your caulking skills and thoughts on preventing water invasion!
Thanks for checking out the build!
I don't often watch an entire video on this subject, but yours was just so appealing and your work is beautiful. Cheers!
Thanks for checking out the build! Your time is greatly appreciated and I'll keep building stuff to share!
The brown is beautiful! Together with the lighter wood it gives a very 'down to earth' vibe. It reminds me of clay.
Thanks for the reassurance about the brown, and for watching! Greatly appreciated
I concur, i LOVE the color scheme, its warm, natural and BEAUTIFUL ✨ if youre compelled to introduce another color, perhaps try a pale or olive type green. That'd go well with the scheme, i think. You did a great job on the whole camper!
@@mikekrabal🦋🌿 Beautiful Build! I love how the colors are relaxing and fit into nature
Sometime try using Burlap on your interior as it looks cool. And maybe put a solar panel on it but for the side like over the door as a flip up awning.
I vote for the brown, with the trim it looks like mountains! Very earthy! Plus it looks like it was meant to be that color! If I could afford one, I’d buy from you in a heart beat! You are a master builder! BTW I LOVE your water heater, I may just have to try that my dang self for my bus, as it’s still not gotten plumbed!
gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous! I love your use of space and how you managed to squeeze in sleep for 4 as well as a bathroom. Also really enjoyed seeing your simple round window coverings and how you simply hang them on a hook when not in use. The flip out bed hinge and sliding cupboard doors are something I had been hoping to see demonstrated. My favorite quote, "I'm 200 in real life and 180 in my head."
I hope to provide a better tour on our camping video coming soon. I'll make sure to show those cabinets. Thanks for watchihng!
@@mikekrabal Brown, Brown, the trailer is Awesome the way it is! 💕
“Sanding is just one of those things that has to be done, but man I wish it didn’t.” That one cracked me up! 🤣 Great work, Mike. I really enjoyed this video.
Thanks Bryan! Good to hear from you brother!
I'd rather listen to the silence than the bad music. I love how innovative you were with this build! A shower is a MUST for my future build. I love seeing all you were able to do here.
Thanks for having a look at the camper! All the best on your build!
This is one of the most well thought through and accomplished builds I've seen on KZhead, and believe me, being a builder's Daughter I've watched ALOT. Your attention to detail and brilliantly considered floorplan are testament to how talented you are. Your build ethic reminds me of my Dad's, and that's just about the biggest compliment I could give to anyone. You have a new sub, cheers from England. P.S thanks for the no nonsense informative commentary, without any unnecessary music
Thank you for having a look at the build and for the extra support on the channel. It's great to hear from England, too!
What a great self learner you are. So worth watching. We'll watch them all.
Thanks for checking out the video!
Stop criticizing yourself. You’re doing something that most folks would never attempt. I enjoy watching you build and figure things out. PS hello from a fellow WV’an!
Thanks for the support and for checking out the build. It's good to hear from a fellow West Virginian.
Absolutely beautiful work, Mike. Your eye for detail is incredible, and the fact that you did the entire build without highly detailed plans says a lot about your creative genius. Your a gifted narrator, and your genuine humble personality makes me wish I was your neighbor! Again, what a beautiful work of art! Now all you need is a nice logo on the back with your phone number on it for potential customers. The minute I hit the lottery, I'll be calling you! Rob (California)
Thanks Rob! I appreciate you taking some time to check out the camper.
Absolutely love this build! One thing Id suggest for next time = put a waterproof layer under that water tank, either paint/seal it, set the tank in a tray, or use more rubber roofing. U never know when a connection will jiggle loose over road bumps! Great job!!!
To start THANK YOU for no music!! I really like how you did the rubber floor in the shower. It gives me ideas for what to do in my bus build. What glue did you use on the fabric. Also I'll be using the osb with quarter ince idea for my table. Thank you so much again for no music. If the video is good like yours it doesn't need music as a distraction.
Thanks a bunch for the audio feedback. It helps me know how to set up the next video. I simply used Gorilla clear construction adhesive for all of the fabric in the camper. The curtains, the bench seat and the rear ceiling. It's the $13 a tube version. Expensive, but rock solid when it sets up. I wish I could take credit for the roofing rubber. That goes to my stepdad. He's a roofer and recommended it.
Thank you for not adding music. Great video ✌️
Thanks for having a look at the camper!
The favorite thing I saw was the shower curtain rod. That's an amazing out of the box idea. Great work.
Thanks for watching!
You are very talented and should start your own camper manufacturing company. Amazing work
I have looked into it. If I ever can, I'll make video or post to share. Thanks for having a look at the build!
WOW!!! I checked out your vintage camper as well. I love ❤️ your work, but most of all - your humility! It’s so nice to hear someone learning to become better be so humble about your mistakes that morph into skills. You will always be learning. Let us know when you open that business of yours. I think you’ll have a line of future customers. 😊
Thanks for taking time to look at two videos. I greatly appreciate that! Have a wonderful rest of your day!
No need for music, your commentary is spot on
I like not having to listen to music; your voice is enough for sound. 1. I love this little camper, and I want one! 2. I want to build myself one. 3. I'm happy to watch you do it; I feel much better informed than I was before. Thank you!
Thanks for checking out the video!
Really lovely video. Great informative commentry. The lack of music is what makes this video more charming...You are above all very humble and modest when in fact your skill is amazing. Thankyou for sharing.
Thanks for having a look!
My mom is a retired fire marshal. It's not just the thieves for the hinges. it's so you can't get trapped inside if something falls in front of your door. :) but i guess that door is thin enough that you could beat it down to get out.
I was thinking that campers are sposed to have a fire escape window installed at the opposite end of trailer that the door is.
Thanks for that insight. It would be incredibly easy to knock out one of those windows. They're water tight, but thin respectively. Thanks for watching!
That would be nightmare getting trapped inside.
Yes but .. have to think of a insulated when damp or snow outside.. otherwise it is just for pretty days!! What will you do to make it waterproof???
Your comment reminds me of the Sims game, where random fires frequently appear. 😂 Strangely, most people never set their houses or campers on fire over a lifetime. Though everyone should keep a small fire extinguisher handy, and know how to deal with different fires.
I'm someone who loves the look of wood! This camper is just amazing!! I watch a ton of builds, campers, RV's, tiny homes, etc. This is one of the most beautiful I've seen to-date!! I have absolutely zero talent to do any of these, but I'm drawn to them like bugs to light! Lol Thank you for this video!! Looking forward to more!! God bless!!
Thanks for checking out the video. It's greatly appreciated and God bless!
Mike your trailer camper is absolutely beautiful. You are certainly gifted. It was a joy to watch your build. I am a 68 year old female, always loved building projects, did many things for myself, when I bought my house. I just love to see the finished project. Follow your passion and God bless you. Wonderful work.
Thank you for having a look at the camper. It's great to hear from fellow DIYers!
You are incredibly talented. The camper looks amazing! Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for watching!
Really enjoyed the video. Brown is fine. Wishing you and your family many great camping adventures.
Thanks for checking out the video, and for the reassurance about the brown. I appreciate that!
I keep stalling out on small camper projects because I've never had the courage to do exactly this; build from scratch. Very inspiring to see someone pull it off and with such flare
Thanks for checking out the video!
My family camped a lot in the 60's. My Dad finally bought a small trailer to keep my Mom from sleeping on the ground in a tent. I can imagine us being perfectly happy in this trailer. Wonderful work, Sir. I enjoyed watching all the way through.
Classic ingenuity sir. Terrific Blue Collar American can do skill sets. You were born 100 years late. Great thinking, great attitude. Thank you for your time. Respect 🙏 🫡
Thank you, sir for having a look at the build
Thank you so much for documenting so neatly - and time-consuming. This is the good old YT-Style we are missing more and more. Ppl often simply make a video and do not edit at all, after having no script at all.
Thanks for having a look at the video and the feedback! My early videos were not very good and I hope to continue refining a style for folks enjoyment.
@@mikekrabal This one was very valuable. And even I as non English native could understand the most because you kept voice and video close together.
Love the camper and your unique video style.
@@TimHayward Thank you, sir!

Thanks for having a look at the camper!
I think you are doing an amazing job. You paced this video extremely well. You did not talk too much nor too little but just enough to narrate perfectly. I really enjoy some of the background tools sounds. You are as creative and ingenious with your videos as you are with your building. Great job don’t change a thing.
Thank you, sir! I really appreciate that video feedback as it helps me to know how to set up future videos. Thanks!

Wanna know what I thought at the end of the video while you were showing how it looks? "that looks like a place you'd make a lot of great memories with your family and friends in". First time I thought that after watching one of these, I think that says it all. Awesome work, sir.
Thanks for having a look at the build!
Love watching things done well. You put a lot of thought into this build detailing for strength, waterproofing, and layout. You will love using it! Next on your project list...masterminding tiny houses!

absolutely beautiful work! The brown is a very cozy look. All of the personal touches are so charming!
Thanks for having a look at the video!
I loved this camper! It reminded me of the campers so popular in the 50s and 60s. The curved details were great! You are one talented builder! Keep it up!!
Those old campers are my inspiration. I have a 67' trotwood in the driveway that will be getting restored hopefully soon. Thanks for watching!
I felt impressed after each comment you gave. I'm not a builder, not yet anyways, but I still get this sense that you really know what you're doing. You come off as highly intelligent. The video is a delight to watch too. Thank you for uploading!
Thanks for watching! I have been given a lot of credit for this build. I appreciate that, but I wish I would've said in the video that I've been doing handyman and construction work on and off for two decades. Now, I'm finally using on-the-job skills at home in the garage, by building these campers. Most any handyman or seasoned construction worker could easily replicate this build. The only gift I have is perseverance. Not giving up. If folks would watch me in real time building this, I'd actually look quite dumb. I make a million mistakes along the way and often don't know my next move. But that's the beauty of editing!
Built better than any travel trailer mass produced!
Thanks for having a look at the video!
There is nothing I wouldn't change buddy. I think you did a wonderful job. Well done. See you on the next one 👍
Thanks sir! I appreciate it!
would change? lol
I love the detail you put in to your work!

I really appreciate all of explanation of you process and lessons learned from past experiences. Especially the products you used. I definitely trust Bear a lot more now.
To me the only interesting builds on KZhead are the ones done on a tight budget. Great job. I hope people will appreciate how much work goes into things like that. And thank you for not adding stupid music to distract from the video, It is great the way it is.

An absorbing project. As a carpenter/joiner for 40+ yrs I admire your truly professional job. Something that I had never thought of doing.
